Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

The moment his hand closed around hers—

Everything changed.

His fingers were warm, firm, completely different from hers. The contrast sent a strange shiver through her, goosebumps rising along her skin.

Before she could react, he gently pulled her along with him.

Out of the room.

Out of everything she had known.

Her steps felt unsteady as she followed, her eyes moving quickly around the hallway.

People were watching.

Everyone.

Some with wide eyes.

Some whispering.

Some staring in disbelief.

A few looked envious.

Others simply stood frozen, as if they couldn't understand what they were seeing.

But he—

He didn't even spare them a glance.

As if none of it mattered.

As if they didn't exist at all.

He led her forward without hesitation, his grip steady, his pace unhurried yet impossible to resist.

The air outside felt colder.

Sharper.

Real.

Her breath hitched slightly as they stepped out.

And then—

She saw it.

A line of sleek black cars waiting ahead.

Men stood near them, dressed in dark suits, their posture straight, their presence intimidating.

Silent.

Still.

They didn't move.

Didn't speak.

Only watched.

A quiet gasp escaped her lips before she could stop it.

Everything about this—

It felt unreal.

Like she had stepped into a completely different world.

Yet, no one approached them.

No one questioned him.

Because no one dared to.

He walked her straight to one of the cars—a long black vehicle that stood out even among the others.

Without letting go of her hand, he opened the door and guided her inside.

The interior was warm, dimly lit, far more comfortable than anything she had ever experienced.

She hesitated for a brief second before sitting down.

He followed in right after her.

The door closed.

Cutting off the outside world completely.

"Turn on the heater," he said calmly.

His voice was quiet.

But it carried authority.

She turned her head toward him immediately, surprise clear in her eyes.

She hadn't said anything.

Hadn't even realized how much she was shivering.

But he had noticed.

Of course he had.

Her fingers tightened slightly in her lap as she looked away.

A strange warmth spread through her—

Not from the heater.

But from something else.

Something unfamiliar.

Something she didn't know how to name.

Silence filled the car.

But it didn't feel uncomfortable.

It felt—

Different.

As the vehicle started moving, she glanced out the window.

The place she had known all her life slowly disappeared behind her.

Becoming smaller.

More distant.

Until it was gone.

She swallowed softly, her chest tightening.

This was it.

There was no going back.

She didn't know where he was taking her.

Didn't know what waited ahead.

But one thing was certain—

Her life had just taken a turn she could never undo.

And the man sitting beside her—

Was the reason for it all.
