Chapter 9 - EP 9 : UNSAID TRUTH

🌹 THE ROSEGLID INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Episode 9 — "Unsaid Truths"

At

Roseglid International High School

silence was never truly silent.

It just meant people were thinking.

And thinking meant trouble.

Morning came with whispers still lingering from yesterday.

The video.

The confrontation.

The rumors.

Nothing had faded.

If anything—

it had grown.

Ash walked through the corridor like she owned it.

Same confidence.

Same unbothered expression.

But today—

more eyes followed her.

More voices dropped when she passed.

"Main character energy," Blake muttered as she entered the classroom.

Ash dropped into her seat.

"Background character opinion."

Kai laughed. "She's back."

Noah slid a drink toward her.

"Boba."

She took it without looking.

"…you're consistent. I like that."

"Data supports consistency," he replied.

Across the room—

Damien Alexander Sinclair

sat still.

Watching.

Thinking.

Not speaking.

Because now—

he knew.

Or at least—

he knew enough.

The file.

The headlines.

The words.

Memory loss.

It replayed in his mind again and again.

He looked at her.

Laughing with the boys.

Arguing with Blake.

Teasing Kai.

Acting like nothing in the world could touch her.

And for the first time—

he didn't see just chaos.

He saw a gap.

A missing piece.

But he said nothing.

The teacher entered.

Class started.

No one cared.

Ash leaned back slightly.

"Why do we even show up?" she muttered.

Noah answered without looking up.

"Social structure."

She sighed.

"Boring."

Damien's gaze flickered to her again.

Then away.

He wasn't supposed to care.

This was part of the plan.

Get close.

Learn.

Break.

But now—

the rules had changed.

Lunch.

Cafeteria buzzing again.

But quieter when Section F sat together.

Not because of fear.

Because people were watching.

Ash sat as usual.

Relaxed.

Unbothered.

Blake leaned forward.

"So, celebrity, what's next?"

Ash took a sip.

"Thinking of retiring."

Jett scoffed. "Already peaked?"

She smirked.

"I set my own peaks."

Kai nudged Damien.

"You've been quiet."

"Thinking," Damien replied shortly.

"About?"

"Nothing you need to know."

Ash glanced at him.

"…he's getting more mysterious. Should we be concerned?"

Blake grinned. "We're always concerned."

Noah looked at Damien for a second longer than usual.

Then back at his laptop.

Something wasn't right.

After lunch—

the group split.

Some to class.

Some to wander.

Ash walked toward the back grounds again.

Rose River.

Her usual spot.

She sat on the grass.

Music playing softly from her phone.

No headphones.

Again.

"Still not learning," a voice said.

She didn't look up.

"You still following me?"

Damien stepped closer.

Stopped a few steps away.

"I was walking."

"Sure."

Silence settled.

But not uncomfortable.

Not entirely.

He watched her for a moment.

Then—

sat down beside her.

Not too close.

Not far.

She glanced at him.

"…this is new."

"Don't get used to it."

She smirked.

"I won't."

The river flowed quietly.

Wind soft.

For a moment—

everything felt normal.

Then—

he spoke.

"You don't react like other people."

She didn't look at him.

"Other people are predictable."

"You're not."

"Good."

He studied her.

Trying to match the girl in front of him—

with the one in the file.

It didn't fully connect.

"You don't remember things," he said.

Carefully.

Not a question.

A statement.

She paused.

Just for a second.

Then—

shrugged.

"I remember enough."

That wasn't an answer.

But he didn't push.

Because he couldn't.

Instead—

he leaned back slightly.

Eyes on the sky.

"You act like nothing matters," he said.

She turned her head.

"…you act like everything does."

Silence again.

Then—

she spoke.

Quieter this time.

"Maybe it's easier that way."

He didn't reply.

But something in that line—

stayed.

Back near the main building—

Vanessa stood with her group.

Watching from a distance.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"They're getting closer," one girl said.

Vanessa didn't respond immediately.

Then—

she smiled.

Slow.

Calculated.

"Good," she said.

Back at the river—

Ash stood up suddenly.

Stretching.

"Okay, enough peace. It's getting suspicious."

Damien almost smirked.

Almost.

"You don't like calm," he said.

"I don't trust it."

She looked down at him.

"Coming?"

He stood.

"Obviously."

They walked back together.

Not talking much.

But not distant either.

From afar—

Noah watched.

Leaning against a wall.

His eyes moved between them.

Something was shifting.

And he didn't like variables he couldn't calculate.

Evening approached.

The sky softening again.

Section F gathered near the sports ground.

Laughing.

Messy.

Normal.

Ash joined them.

Blake threw an arm around her shoulder.

"Where were you?"

She shrugged him off.

"Upgrading my personality."

"Impossible," he said.

Jett tossed a ball.

"Game?"

Ash caught it.

"Try not to lose again."

They played.

Ran.

Laughed.

Damien watched.

Then joined.

For the first time—

not because of the plan.

Not because he had to.

But because—

he wanted to.

And that scared him more than anything.

Night fell slowly.

The group started to leave.

One by one.

Ash walked ahead.

Hands in pockets.

Damien followed—

a few steps behind.

Then—

his phone buzzed.

He stopped.

Looked.

Unknown number.

Again.

A message.

"You saw the file."

Another.

"Now decide. Are you still playing… or are you falling?"

His jaw tightened.

Another message came instantly.

"Tomorrow. I show you the full truth."

His grip on the phone tightened.

Slowly—

he looked up.

At Ash.

Walking ahead.

Unaware.

His eyes darkened.

"…this isn't over," he muttered.

From behind a distant pillar—

the hooded figure watched again.

Still.

Silent.

Phone raised.

Recording.

A final message sent.

"Phase two ready."

Ash stopped walking suddenly.

Turned slightly.

Like she felt something.

But no one was there.

She frowned.

Just for a second.

Then shook it off.

"…weird," she muttered.

And kept walking.

Behind her—

Damien stood still.

Between truth and feelings.

And for the first time—

he wasn't sure which one would win.
