🌹 THE ROSEGLID INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Episode 10 — "The Next Step"
At
Roseglid International High School
morning didn't feel like morning.
It felt like a countdown.
For
Damien Alexander Sinclair
everything was split in two.
What he knew.
And what he was pretending not to know.
The message from last night still sat on his phone.
Unread.
But memorized.
"Tomorrow. I show you the full truth."
He sat in Section F, eyes unfocused.
Listening without hearing.
Watching without reacting.
The door opened.
And she walked in.
Ashylene Rae Valyne
Same energy.
Same chaos.
Like the world didn't shift under her feet.
"Morning, disappointments," she said, dropping into her seat.
Blake gasped. "She downgraded us."
Ash took a sip of her drink.
"Upgrade yourselves."
Kai laughed.
Jett threw a paper ball.
Noah typed quietly.
Normal.
Everything looked normal.
Damien looked at her.
Longer than usual.
Because now—
he was searching.
For signs.
For cracks.
For anything that matched the truth he saw.
But she was just—
her.
"You're staring again," Ash said without looking at him.
He didn't respond.
She turned her head slightly.
"…you good?"
"Focus on yourself," he said.
Same line.
Same tone.
She frowned.
Just slightly.
Then looked away.
"…boring."
Noah glanced between them.
Something was off.
Again.
The teacher entered.
Class started.
Ignored.
Damien's phone buzzed.
He didn't check it.
Not yet.
Because he already knew.
Lunch came slower than usual.
Or maybe time just dragged.
The cafeteria filled.
Voices loud.
Energy high.
Ash sat with Section F.
As always.
Blake leaned forward.
"So what's today's chaos plan?"
Ash shrugged.
"Thinking of being peaceful."
The table went silent.
Kai blinked.
"…who are you?"
Jett shook his head.
"This is suspicious."
Ash smirked.
"Relax. It won't last."
Laughter broke out.
Damien didn't laugh.
He watched.
Again.
Noticing how easy it was for her.
To fit.
To exist.
To laugh like nothing was broken.
"Earth to Sinclair," Blake waved a hand in front of him.
"You alive?"
"I am," Damien said flatly.
Ash leaned back slightly.
"…you sure? You've been acting like a background character."
That hit.
Just enough.
He looked at her.
Cold.
Sharp.
"Maybe I'm just tired of noise."
She tilted her head.
"Then stop listening."
Silence.
Then—
he looked away first.
After lunch—
the school felt heavier.
Like something was waiting.
Because it was.
4:58 PM.
The same place.
Behind the old building.
Damien stood there again.
Waiting.
Exactly at 5—
the hooded figure appeared.
"You're consistent," they said.
"Get to the point," Damien replied.
The figure stepped closer.
Holding another file.
Thicker this time.
"You saw the basics yesterday," they said.
"Today—you see everything."
They handed it over.
Damien opened it.
More documents.
More reports.
More details.
His eyes moved quickly.
A timeline.
Dates.
Locations.
Then—
one page stopped him.
A report.
Clear.
"Incident involving Valyne family residence—multiple casualties reported."
His jaw tightened.
Another line.
"Surviving child—Ashylene Rae Valyne—found in shock condition."
Another.
"Subject shows signs of trauma-induced memory suppression."
Silence.
Everything clicked harder.
Clearer.
Sharper.
"She doesn't remember any of it," the figure said quietly.
Damien didn't respond.
He kept reading.
Photos.
Blurred.
But enough.
A house.
Damaged.
A child.
Small.
Holding something.
A necklace.
Star shaped.
His grip tightened.
"Why are you showing me this?" he asked again.
The figure stepped back.
"Because you're getting close," they said.
"And you deserve to know who you're dealing with."
Something about that—
still didn't sit right.
"This isn't about me," Damien said.
The figure tilted their head.
"Isn't it?"
Silence.
"Think about it," they continued.
"She doesn't even know who she is."
That line stayed.
Damien closed the file slowly.
"And what do you want?"
The figure smiled faintly.
"Nothing."
A lie.
Again.
Before he could say more—
they turned.
And disappeared.
Again.
Damien stood there alone.
File in hand.
Mind racing.
Truth.
Pieces.
Fragments.
And her.
Always her.
Back at the Rose Bridge—
Ash stood alone again.
Looking at the water.
Thinking.
Her reflection moved slightly.
Distorted.
"…why does everything feel incomplete?" she whispered.
No answer.
Footsteps approached.
She didn't turn.
"Following me again?" she said.
No response.
She turned—
No one.
Her brows furrowed.
"…okay that's creepy."
A breeze passed.
But something felt—
off.
Far away—
hidden—
someone watched.
Phone raised.
Recording.
Back near the old building—
Damien stepped out.
File still in his hand.
His mind—
louder than ever.
He looked ahead.
And saw her.
Standing at the bridge.
Alone.
Unaware.
He could walk to her.
Ask everything.
End the questions.
But he didn't.
Instead—
he stood there.
Watching.
Thinking.
Because now—
this wasn't just a plan.
This was something else.
Something he didn't fully understand.
Something he didn't fully control.
His phone buzzed again.
Another message.
"Now you know."
Another.
"So what will you do with her?"
His grip tightened.
His gaze didn't leave her.
"…I don't know," he admitted quietly.
And that—
was the most dangerous part.
Because Damien Sinclair—
always knew what to do.
Except now.
Back at the bridge—
Ash looked up suddenly.
Like she felt something again.
Her eyes scanned the distance.
And for a second—
they almost met his.
But not quite.
Just missed.
She frowned slightly.
"…seriously, what is that feeling?"
Behind her—
the river flowed.
Calm.
Hiding everything beneath.
Just like her.
Just like him.
And somewhere in the shadows—
the game continued.
Unseen.
Unfinished.
