Lin sat in the car. "So are we going to the hotel?"
"No. Take the car and drive yourself home. It's yours now. I'll take the other car I have. Good night. Be early tomorrow." Li dropped the keys on the driver's seat and walked away.
Lin stared at him speechless. He walked over to meet Zhao. Zhao held him close and put him in the car. "Follow me to the hotel." Zhao uttered.
They drove off to the hotel. Zhao took him in. He met a new set of men seated by the deeper dark. Zhao introduced him. "I brought him here. Li Wei."
Li stared at an older man. He knew immediately, this must be Jade himself. "Li sit down."
Li sat. "I am Jade. I've got a contract for you and I heard you've got the potential for it. Right?"
"Yes sir."
"Good." He reached for a thick leather black bag. "Take this bag of thirty million yuan. Finish the business and get back to Zhao. It'll get to me through him."
"Yes sir. Thank you sir. I won't fail you."
"Of course not. If you do. You'll face the consequences." Jade said.
"Yes sir."
"Good. Now leave. Zhao? Handle the transactions."
"Okay dad." Li felt like he won the jackpot. He felt like Zhao was so lucky to have Jade as his father.
Zhao and Li walked out of the dark room. Zhao whispered in his ear, "Take the briefcases in the new car you just got and know you are watched by the clan. If you think you can run with this money you just got, you can't. It's thirty million yuan. Move crazy and the whole clan will come after you. Trust me when I say this, I can't help you then."
"Noted. I won't fail. What's in the briefcases?"
"When you open them, you'll see them."
Li felt unsure of what he thought, blood? Gold? Diamonds?
He got into the car and placed the money in it. He drove off in the car, he followed the address to the new house. He news now the owner of a new duplex, the latest landlord. He noticed the new gateman and a few other men around either to protect him or kill him.
Li walked off into the house, he quickly locked his door. He turned to his new space, he noticed the interior of the house. Extremely classy and expensive, he moved the bags and the briefcases to the room. He callled Zhao.
"Zhao? I noticed the boxes and I just opened them. What are these? These stones and gold? What are they for?"
"Think smart. Get them sold. Your target is a hundred million yuan."
"What! How do you expect me to get them sold? They are fake and I don't know anyone."
"Li? The money you received came from someone else's sales. Like I said, think smart." He hung up.
Li threw the phone on the bed, when he signed the contract at the office, he expected a romance story not a fraud story. He sat on the bed and noticed he sat on something hard. He pulled the bedsheet off and saw a new set of two phones, and a laptop.
He knew the phones were tracked.
"I need to take a break." His phone buzzed. He stared at the message. All it said was Research.
"Research on who? Who do you think I know? What do you think I know?" And then he just remembered the gamble table, he didn't waste his time after all. He already exchanged his contact at the table. He scrolled down and noticed a few of them sent messages.
He dropped the message, do you need gold? I've got a few for sale and some Jade stones too.
The man replied, No I don't but I know someone who does and they need it urgently for a foreign transaction.
Li smiled. "I'm ready when you are."
He dropped the phone. He opened all the bags of cash. He knew he had a busy day tomorrow. He remembered he went out with Lin.
He called her phone. "Good evening sir!"
From her excited sound, she really had a blast.
"How are you doing? I've got a job for you."
"Okay. I'll get my pen and note." Li waited. "I'm ready sir. Go on."
"Tomorrow, you'll bring two persons. One as my assistant and the other as the accountant."
"What? Are you done with me sir?" She asked sadly.
"No but I need you for something else. It's more serious."
"Oh okay. What is it?"
"I'll need you deliver a package to a man tomorrow early by 5am. I want you hidden and smart. Can you handle it?"
"Yes sir. I'll get the two employees and I'll handle the delivery. Anything else?"
Li exhaled over the phone. "Yes. Don't be at the office tomorrow at all. Stay hidden until I call you out."
"Really? Okay. I will. How will I get the package?"
"Meet me at the Jade industries."
"Okay sir."
"Good." He hung up.
He dropped the phone. He turned to the bathroom. He walked into the space and knew even his old apartment could fit into this bathroom. He showered a bit. He waited for a while until he noticed the phone buzzing.
A message from Shen Hao. Sir please I need a little token from you. Can you help?
Li watched the phone with water still dripping from his body. Yes of course. Name it.
When dialed his number and he picked up. "What's wrong?"
"I just paid off a bit of my loan and I need more to feed and pay my house rent."
"Shen? I'll be sending you ten thousand yuan. Get an apartment and get fit for tomorrow."
"Thank you sir. I will. I'm so grateful." He sent the money after he dropped the call, he waited for a while before he dropped the phone again. He wiped the water off his body, he wore a new set of pajamas.
He moved the briefcases and bag of money to the side. Lin called, "Sir? Can I pick up the package now?"
"Fine. Deliver it now then?"
"No. I can't."
"Then forget it." He hung up.
He shut his eyes to process his sleep.
