Chapter 6 - Carrot Diplomacy

Crane Daoist Robe (Bronze) Equipment Level: 2

HP+100

Physical Resistance +2, Magic Resistance +2

How should I put it? This Bronze equipment looks like trash, and in reality, it is indeed trash.

Compared to the Thousand-Year Peach Wood Sword in Lucien's hands, it is worlds apart.

The only bright spot is probably the addition of 100 HP.

The novice clothing only adds 10 HP and has no bonuses to physical or magic resistance.

However, Lucien did not despise it; having something is better than having nothing, especially since it added 100 HP.

This is equivalent to increasing his own health by more than one-seventh, so what is there to be dissatisfied about!

After all, it is just a level 2 Bronze piece of equipment.

After equipping the Crane Daoist Robe, Lucien went to the novice instructor.

"I want to learn skills!"

There are three ways to learn skills. The first is to find the instructor for each class, where you can learn skills.

The second method is to use skill books, but the drop rate for skill books is very low.

The third method is that if the skills you have mastered reach the Grandmaster level, you can teach them to other players.

If you want to train a skill to the Grandmaster level, without a special encounter, it takes about ten years.

"Do you wish to learn Soul Fire Talisman? It requires 1 silver coin!"

Because he was only level 3, he could only learn the most basic Soul Fire Talisman from the instructor.

"Learn!"

"Ding, you have lost 1 silver coin and mastered Soul Fire Talisman (Beginner) and Talisman Crafting Technique (Beginner)."

Soul Fire Talisman (Bronze)

Proficiency (Beginner): 0 / 100

Basic Magic Attack: 20 + 164 (Own Magic Power)

Cooldown: 1 second

Consumption: 20 MP / Talisman

Learning Soul Fire Talisman also comes with an additional skill.

Talisman Crafting Technique (Bronze)

Proficiency (Beginner): 0 / 1000

Condense mana to craft a normal talisman

Consumption: 20 MP

Cooldown: 5 seconds

The attack power of a Daoist's skills is far inferior to that of a Mage.

However, the cooldown time is much better than that of a Mage.

The basic skill of a Mage, Fireball Technique, has a cooldown of up to ten seconds.

However, to cast most Daoist skills, one must have enough talismans.

Fortunately, talismans can be crafted in both combat and non-combat states.

In a non-combat state, MP recovery speed is one-tenth of one's spirit attribute.

In a combat state, MP recovery speed is only one-hundredth of one's attribute.

After learning the skills, Lucien prepared to go out to level up.

He knew there were still quite a few quests, but those quests were time-consuming and laborious; for him, they were simply not worth the effort.

Moreover, the Novice Village had been around for several years, and there were no hidden quests left.

Next, he had to go to the grocery store to buy carrots.

After all, for a BOSS of unknown level, the reward should not be too bad, right?

He spent ten copper coins to buy ten carrots.

Lucien crafted talismans while walking towards the outside of the village.

Taking advantage of the non-combat state, he could recover 5 MP per second.

It was just enough to offset the consumption of crafting one talisman.

By the time he reached the Little White Rabbit area, he had already crafted nearly one hundred talismans, all of which were placed in his backpack.

The backpack had twenty slots, and in each slot, apart from equipment, all identical materials could be stacked up to 999.

Every ten levels, the backpack would increase by five slots, and some special equipment would also increase backpack capacity.

The area was already crowded with players.

"What kind of BOSS is this! A ten-man team of level 10 players just now couldn't even last for a second before they were all wiped out."

"Fortunately, this BOSS doesn't attack actively, otherwise it would be impossible to leave the village."

"This is too perverted! Is this a BOSS that should be in a Novice Village?"

"Other Novice Villages don't have it, only this one does. Could it be a hidden BOSS?"

A hidden BOSS could drop scrolls for hidden classes.

This caused a stir among the players, but everyone looked at each other, and no one wanted to test the BOSS's sharp claws.

The scene from just a moment ago was still vivid in their minds.

It was obvious that this BOSS could not be defeated just by relying on numbers.

Coupled with the extremely high death penalty, and the fact that there were only ten thousand people in the entire Novice Village,

dying once meant losing a level and being unable to enter the game for twenty-four hours; relying on human wave tactics was simply a joke.

Seeing that no one was making a move, the vast majority of players dispersed.

Lucien, however, approached the BOSS, holding a carrot in his hand.

When the BOSS saw the carrot, it first twitched its nose to sniff it, and then its eyes lit up.

Without a word, it took a bite and swallowed the carrot immediately.

After eating, the BOSS looked satisfied, and tears even appeared in its eyes.

Seeing this, Lucien was stunned. Did it really have to be so moved?

It was just a regular carrot; how could it make the BOSS cry?

"Ding, Jade Rabbit's favorability towards you +50!"

Hearing the system sound, Lucien's body jolted.

Could it be that this BOSS could be tamed as a pet?

Pets were also a major combat force in Battle Online, and some people's pets were even more powerful than themselves.

There are three ways to obtain a pet.

The first is to rely on a pet egg; pets hatched from pet eggs will automatically recognize their master.

However, a pet just hatched from a pet egg is only level 1 and still needs to be taken to level up.

The second is to learn Taming Technique, which can be used to tame monsters as pets.

The third is to cater to their preferences by bringing things that certain monsters like to cultivate favorability; when the favorability is high enough, the other party will automatically recognize you as their master.

Thinking of this, Lucien took out another carrot, and the BOSS instantly snatched the carrot from his hand and began to chew it slowly.

However, this time Lucien did not hear the sound of favorability increasing.

Still, Lucien did not give up and continued to feed the BOSS carrots.

Lucien's strange actions were seen by some players who were still leveling up here.

"That person is so strange, he's actually feeding the BOSS!"

"What's so strange about that? Maybe he wants to tame that BOSS as a pet!"

"No way, just by relying on carrots, he can make the BOSS a pet?"

"That's impossible. To cultivate the favorability of a BOSS, the materials consumed would be astronomical in price; it's simply not something a player in a Novice Village can afford, let alone carrots!"

Soon, all ten carrots in Lucien's hands were eaten by the BOSS in front of him.

And the favorability had already increased to 60 points.

"Ding, congratulations on obtaining Path to the Moon Palace!"

Just as he was preparing to return to the village to buy more carrots, the system prompt sounded.

And the BOSS in front of him became a blur and then disappeared.

Looking at the scroll in his hand, Lucien hurriedly checked it.

Path to the Moon Palace (Secret Realm)

Usage count: 2

Usage level: 30

A scroll recording the path to the Moon Palace; legend has it that the beautiful Fairy Chang'e lives there.

He did know about Chang'e, a character from myths and legends.

And the BOSS just now was also called Jade Rabbit; could it be her pet?

But a Secret Realm, this was something Lucien had never heard of.

In his previous life, Lucien was not a top-tier player and could not access any secret matters.

Forget it, no need to think about it. Since he couldn't figure it out, he would just wait until he reached level 30 to go and see!

He had better go level up first!
