The night kept moving forward, but no one even thought about sleeping.
The mansion was fully lit—alive in a way that didn't feel natural.
As if the place itself knew something important was about to happen.
Veronica stood near the table, arms crossed, trying to stay focused.
But it wasn't easy.
Everything was still too fresh.
The chase.
The revelations.
Leon.
Daniel.
She took a deep breath.
"Alright…" she said, more to herself than to anyone else. "So we know they're active."
Leon stood in front of the computer, analyzing data.
"Yes."
"We know they're after me."
"Yes."
She turned toward him.
"And we know this all started with our families."
Silence answered for a moment.
"That too," Leon said.
Daniel leaned against the wall, watching both of them.
"So what's the plan?"
Leon turned the screen toward them.
"We find the entry point."
"What?"
"Where they're operating from now."
Veronica stepped closer.
"You already have something?"
"I have a start."
He zoomed in on a map.
Several locations marked.
"These are places connected to the fund."
"Companies?" she asked.
"Some."
"And the others?"
Leon looked at her.
"Places where the money moves."
Daniel stepped closer too.
"Laundering."
"Exactly."
Veronica studied the screen.
"Which one is the main one?"
Leon pointed.
"This."
A building.
Far from the center.
"What's there?"
"Officially? A consulting firm."
Daniel let out a quiet laugh.
"Of course it is."
"Unofficially…" Leon continued,
"It's where they organize operations."
Silence fell.
"You sure?" Veronica asked.
"Sure enough."
She took a deep breath.
"Then we go there."
Leon turned immediately.
"No."
"No?"
"You're not going."
She crossed her arms.
"Don't start."
"It's dangerous."
"Everything already is."
"This is different."
"Why?"
"Because it's their territory."
Silence.
"So you're going alone?"
"Yes."
"And you expect me to stay here?"
"Yes."
She let out a humorless laugh.
"You really don't know me."
Daniel had been quiet—
But finally spoke:
"She's going."
Leon looked at him.
"That's not your decision."
"It's not just yours either."
The tension shifted again.
"You two want to decide for me?" Veronica said.
Silence.
"Because that's not happening."
She stepped closer to the table.
"I'm in this."
"I know," Leon said.
"Then I'm going."
Silence lingered.
But this time…
Leon didn't answer right away.
He just looked at her.
And realized—
She wasn't backing down.
"Then we do this the right way," he said.
Daniel raised an eyebrow.
"And that would be?"
"Get in. Look. Get out."
"Simple as that?" Daniel asked.
"No."
"Then what?"
Leon answered directly:
"No improvising."
Veronica nodded.
"Perfect."
Daniel crossed his arms.
"And if it goes wrong?"
Leon looked at him.
"It won't."
Daniel laughed lightly.
"You're very confident."
"I have experience."
Silence settled again.
But this time… controlled.
"We going now?" Veronica asked.
Leon checked the time.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because right now, they're expecting something."
"And when won't they?"
"In the morning."
Daniel frowned.
"Morning?"
"Normal movement."
"Less suspicious."
Veronica nodded.
"Makes sense."
The plan was forming.
And for the first time…
It felt like they were in control.
Or at least… close to it.
Time passed slowly.
None of them really rested.
Their bodies were there…
But their minds weren't.
Veronica now sat quietly, staring into nothing.
Thinking.
Feeling.
And in the middle of it all…
One question remained.
"Leon."
He looked up.
"What?"
"If all of this started with our families…"
He went silent.
"Can it end with us?"
The question lingered.
Heavy.
Real.
Leon answered after a few seconds.
"It can."
"How?"
He held her gaze.
"By doing what they didn't."
"What?"
"Stopping."
Silence.
And it stayed.
Daniel spoke quietly:
"Or destroying everything."
They both looked at him.
"That's also an option."
Veronica looked away.
Because now…
She understood.
This wasn't just about winning.
It was about how it ends.
The sun began to rise on the horizon.
Faint.
But present.
A new phase.
Literally.
Leon stood up.
"It's time."
Veronica's heart sped up.
"Then let's go."
Daniel grabbed the keys.
"I'll drive."
"No," Leon said.
"I'll drive."
"You always need control."
"And you always complicate things."
"Enough," Veronica said.
They both stopped.
"We go together."
Simple.
Direct.
No argument.
The car left the mansion.
The city was waking up.
Movement.
Light.
Normality.
But inside that car…
Nothing was normal.
"Last chance to back out," Leon said.
Veronica stared ahead.
"No."
Daniel let out a quiet breath.
"Thought you'd say that."
The building appeared minutes later.
Discrete.
As expected.
Nothing flashy.
Nothing suspicious.
And that…
Was the most suspicious part.
"This is it," Leon said.
The car stopped.
Silence took over.
"Ready?" he asked.
Veronica took a deep breath.
"No."
Then she said:
"But let's go."
They stepped out.
Walked toward the entrance.
Each step…
Heavier.
More real.
The door opened.
They walked in.
And in that moment…
Without realizing it yet…
They crossed a line.
One they could never come back from.
