Chapter 23 - The Hidden Truth

The base was quiet after the mission. No one was joking this time. Everyone felt it. Something was changing and it was not good. They all gathered in the control room. Mira was already there. She looked serious, more serious than usual. That alone was enough to make everyone pay attention. "We found something," she said. Jenny sighed and dropped into a chair. "Please don't say it is bad."

Mira looked at her. "It is not good." The screen behind her turned on. Lines of light spread across the map of the city. They moved slowly like something alive. Kevin stepped closer. "What is this?" Mira took a breath. "This is the energy network. The one connected to your rings." Louis frowned. "You said it was inactive." "It was," Mira said. "Not anymore." The room went quiet.

Elisa stared at the screen. She could feel it now. The same energy she felt during fights. But this time it was everywhere. Not just one place. Zoe spoke softly. "Something turned it on." Adrian nodded. "And we think it is the same force behind the creatures." Jake crossed his arms. "So every fight we had… it was part of something bigger."

Rayan said, "Yes. Every time power is used, the network reacts." Jenny sat up straight. "Wait. So when we fight, we are making it stronger?" Mira shook her head. "Not exactly. But your powers are connected to it. That means it responds to you." Kevin looked at Elisa. "So we are part of this whether we like it or not." Stebin said, "Then we stop using the rings." Elisa shook her head right away. "No. If we stop, we lose." Everyone looked at her.

She stepped forward. "We were chosen for a reason. That means we are not here to run. We are here to stop this." Zoe nodded. "Then we need to understand it first." Mira changed the screen again. This time an old image appeared. Seven symbols were shown. Each one looked different. Each one had its own energy. "These were found in ancient records," Mira said. "Seven sources of power. Seven guardians." Jenny looked surprised. "So this is not new?"

Adrian replied, "Maybe not exactly like this. But the rings have existed for a long time." Kevin looked closer at the symbols. Then he stopped. "Wait…" Elisa stepped forward. Her eyes locked on one symbol. It was the same one. The same mark they saw before. The one from the screen. The one from the letter. Zoe said quietly, "It is the same."

No one spoke for a moment. Jake broke the silence. "So this has happened before." Stebin asked, "Then what happened to the last guardians?" No one had an answer. The room felt colder. Elisa kept looking at the symbol. This time it felt different. Not just fear. Not just danger. It felt like something calling her.

She touched her ring. It started to glow softly. "I don't think this is just a warning," she said. Everyone looked at her again."I think this is history repeating." Silence filled the room. Far away, hidden in darkness, the same symbol appeared again. It glowed slowly. A voice whispered, "They are starting to understand." Back in the base, the team stood together. Now they knew the truth.

This was not just a fight. It was something that had already happened once before. And now it had come back.
