Cherreads

Chapter 2 - C2: LUCKY BEGINNING

THREE YEARS LATER. He opened the door. Warm air flashed in him. He took in several breaths as he noticed the mixed scent of various stuff like roasted meat and the strong stench of alcohol. Then a warm hand touched his freezing fingers. He turned. A beeming smile stared at him.

"Hey why are you standing here?" A voice came along as the guy dragged him past the vast lively crowd. Once at the counter the guy basically headed behind it as he sat on one of the high chairs before him.

"Found fun?" He spoke as the guy responded with a smile.

"Maybe. Pa told me to take this up for you and why not? I find fun in everything that involves your name." He responded as he prepared a drink and handed it to one of the waiters. Then he looked at the orders.

"What's your drink?" He asked as he prepared a new order.

"The usual." He responded. Cold as ever.

"Okay." He responded as he tossed aside whatever he was preparing and cocked off another bottle. It's green colour was attractive as it was keenly stricken by the blue lights in the bar. The guy poured him the drink as he continued with what he left off.

"What made you come here?" He asked handing in another drink as he finally sat signalling the others to take up the rest of the orders.

"You."

"Don't say that I didn't drag your feet."

"Can you go to school with me?"

"Nervous?"

"Sort off. You know it's a big deal and that old man never cares an inch."

"Starting yet again?"

"Yeah. But not doing his course. I want to try something I love."

"Something to do with speed and those illegal races you always do?"

"Yeah." He responded and sipped his drink yet again. Bitter as always but alcohol free. He was allergic to it. Then a guy sat beside him. Too close. He chocked a bit.

"Rick make me my usual." He spoke. His voice wasn't heavy. Just cute. He turned to look at him as he stood moving his seat from him.

"Okay." Rick stated as he begun shaking the cans and working out his miracle.

"Hi." He stated turning to him. He was silent. He never got to believe he'd meet this guy. The same guy whose photo was...

Rick tossed the drink to him as he took a puff.

"Dew this is Gene. Gene this is Dew." Rick did the introduction.

"So he is the kid that you always talk about?"

"Yeah but don't tease him. He gets angry a little too easy." Rick responded as he added the drink to Dews glass.

"What of Timon?"

"That bitch has his face all over. If I get sighted with him I might have to do a surgery."

"Seems intense." Gene stated trying to join in the pieces of the puzzle he just picked.

"Nothing complicated Gene." Rick stated as he shared Genes drink. Dew stared at his glasd. He always hated it when Rick had his attention on someone else that wasn't him. He trusted a few and those few always seemed to be slipping from him.

He stared at the brown leather jacket. He knew of only one person who owned it. Shyl. Topping it over he was seated beside Gene and Rick was also in the bracket.

"Wait I left Shyl at the table." He told himself as he turned back. Shyl wasn't there.

"Yes it is him. He had some white shirt how did he put on this coat?" He asked himself shrugging the thought off. He decided to ask him on his own. He walked forth trying to be steady. The amount of alcohol he had taken was unbearable.

A hand slid against his. From the glass he turned his eyes to the pale light skinned guy. The guy picked the glass from him as the trio turned shouting.

"No! Don't drink!" Dew stood picking his glass from the guys hand. His silky hair rubbed against the pink corners of his eyes. To him the music slowed down as Dew stared into his eyes for a second. Then blinked before heading back to his seat and taking a final sip of the drink. He stood there silent.

"Rick it's just alcohol!" He repremanded.

"From a different person."

"From Shyl. The leather jacket and Gene are both here." He stated tearfully.

"Look at the guys face. Plus that's not alcohol. If you take it you'll explode." Rick stated as Gene hit his head. He turned to a sulky mode.

"Apologize." Rick stated as he turned to Dew who stared at the bottles and glasses ahead as if in disbelief. He touched him softly on his palm as Dew turned.

"Sorry." He stated and smiled. The exact same smile he gave him yearssy ago. Dew gave a slight node.

"Okay tough mood off now..." Rick begun as the boy cut him off.

"... I came to steal someone from you." He stated pulling Gene from his seat.

"Strong yet drunk." Rick stated as he shook his head.

"Pick the other one." He stated symbolizing Dew. Dew shook his head. This was never part of his plan.

"He seems cold and we want to play a game."

"I hope you'll recal everything you state when you wake up." Gene stated as he pulled him unwillingly.

"Bye Dew." Rick stated as he waved out. Dew raised his middle finger at him as the boy pulled him faster.

"Hey guys I brought you a new friend!" He stated joyfully as he sat by some of his friends.

"Squat over." Another stated as they squeezed up to find him space.

"Name?" One asked. He counted them. Seven. Not unlucky as the other numbers he always got.

"Dirawin." He stated in a drunk tone.

"Don't say that name." A guy slapped him.

"Dew." He cut the chase short.

"So we'll begin from me at this end. I'm Kevin. Third year medicine."

"Vin. First year to be sports science. I'm Kevin's boy." He stated as he held him close."

"Love in the air. It stinks. Venice or Nice third year veterinary med." He stated as they all laughed making odd noises. It was obvious for drink guys.

"Shyl. First year to be architecture." The guy was soft seemingly easy to be wowed. Maybe that is why he was thought of as him earlier. Then his host's turn.

"Jay. First year to be...what was that again?" They all laughed as his confused structure seemed forgetful. This was a different person than the one he met.

"Fine arts!" They all shouted mocking him.

"First. First year sports science. I'm with Nice."

"Just say you're dating the guy that said love stinks." The last person stated as they all laughed. It was a blast. The noise. Dew would never get used to it. He sneaked a peek on Jay who seemed totally in his world. He remembers. Though drunk he remembered him.

"Tiw. First year fine arts." He said clearing the air.

"He seems different from what you said of him." Gene stated as Rick ordered a drink to be delivered to him.

"I don't even know him but we've been together since he was born."

"That tough?"

"Maybe. So what will you do about Shyl?"

"No idea but I'll have to leave soon."

"It'll be tough on him."

"Both of us will have our fair share of trauma." Gene responded as he sipped the last drop of his drink as they watched the others play.
