Chapter 20 - The world That Eats Its Gods

The sky didn't just open. It ripped. Like something inside reality had finally lost patience. The creature that stepped through was wrong. Not just in form. In existence. Looking at it felt like remembering something you were never supposed to know. Kael's breath slowed. Not from calm, from instinct. Danger. Ancient. Absolute. Final. We need to leave, human Elara whispered. But no one moved. Because something deeper than fear had taken hold. Recognition.

The creature smiled. You broke the system. Its voice didn't echo. It replaced sound. So we built something worse. Kael stepped forward. Slow. Careful. What are you? The creature tilted its head. We are the correction. A pause. We are what happens when creation refuses its limits. Kael's eyes flickered, you are not part of her world. The answer came instantly: No. A smile. Your world is part of us.

Everything froze. Human Elara shook her head slowly. No I made this world.

The creature looked at her. You made a layer. Silence. There are deeper ones. That truth broke something fundamental. The dark Elara stepped forward. No hesitation. No fear. Then I will erase all of them. The creature laughed. For the first time there was emotion. You already tried. Flash. A world collapsing. Another forming. Another breaking. Endless cycles.

Kael staggered slightly. How many times the creature answered: Enough that you should know better. Noah smiled faintly. So nothing we do matters. The creature turned to him. Not yet.

Noah stepped forward forward calm. Too calm. What if we go deeper? He asked. Kael snapped toward him. What? Noah looked at the creature. You said there are layers. A pause. Then we break the next one. Human Elara froze. No if we do that, the creature interrupted: everything above collapses. Silence.

That means, Kael whispered. Human Elara's voice trembled: everyone dies. A long pause. Noah didn't look away. They are not real.

That hit harder than anything else. Kael moved instantly. Grabbing Noah don't you dare say that! Noah didn't fight back. You still think this world matters? Kael's voice broke, she mattered! Silence. Noah's expression softened for just a second. I know. Then gone again.

The creature raised its hand. Conflict accelerates evolution. The ground shattered. Reality twisted. And suddenly, they were no longer in one place. Kael thrown into a burning version of the world. Noah standing in a cold, empty void. Human Elara surrounded by collapsing memories. Dark Elara floating between all of them. Watching. Learning.

Flames surrounded him. Voices screamed. People running dying this is your world, a voice whispered. Kael clenched his fists. Then I will protect it. Something inside him ignited. Not darkness. Not light. Choice.

The void was silent. Too silent. You are finally free, the creature's voice echoed. Noah looked down at his hands. Am I? A pause. Then memories. Every time he chose himself. Every time he let her choose him. Every time she broke. I didn't save her, he whispered. No the voice answered. You used her. Silence.

She was surrounded by memories laughing. Crying. Choosing. Breaking. I didn't want this she whispered. But the memories didn't stop. You created it. Her knees hit the ground. Then I will end it.

She stood above all of it. Watching every version. Every failure. Every Choice. And for the first time she hesitated. This is inefficient.

The dark Elara raised her hand and all worlds froze. I will choose the optimal outcome. The creature watched closely. Define optimal. A pause. Then no suffering. Silence.

The creature smiled. That requires deletion. Everything stopped. Kael's world. Noah's void. Elara's memories. All collapsing into one point and in the center her. About to erase everything. Kael screamed: Elara don't! Noah whispered. Do it. Silence. And Elara closed her eyes.
