"What?"
Ava sprang up instantly.
"You said what? She forced a confession out of you, when did you become so useless? Have you always been this useless or have you regressed in the past months because I let you be?"
Ava gritted her teeth glaring at Adam standing before her.
She had come out immediately she saw his text, he had not even bothered calling her.
This incompetent fool, she had finally managed to put her person in the hospital connected to Caroline after a long while but he had fumbled this and all her other plans were hanging by a thread.
That little bitch Madeline and her face which reminded her of Caroline every single day. She had planned to ruin her legs and after that her face then she was slowly going to destroy her life but all this had been ruined by this self absorbed fool standing before her.
In anger, she picked up the tea cup and hurled it straight at him.
"CRASH"
Adam didn't dare move. He stood still as the cup came flying at him but just before it got to him, the man seated beside him pulled him away and the cup crashed to the floor.
"Tell me exactly what you told her, I mean everything. If you miss out just one word then your sister would miss a finger is that clear?"
Adam shook, he knew well enough that Ava's words were not just threats. She was someone who always found joy in other people's misery and always carried out her threats.
"She… she saw Elsa Quinn and suspected something, she threatened to go to Old master Quinn to tell him I was exchanging sexual favours with his daughter. Forgive me Madam, but I figured Elsa Quinn is a fatter cow you wouldn't want to lose right now so I had to say something". Adam quickly explained.
The more Ava thought about it, the angrier she became. "How exactly did she trace it back and suspect me in the first place. Just a little more and she would have been taken care of for good. If she reveals my involvement you are done for understand?"
By now Adam had calmed down "Madam be rest assured, all she knows is you bought a drug for her but as far as any one is concerned, the drug is not harmful to the body at all. You are just a caring mother who heard of a drug and remembering your child struggles you bought her one. I am sure Mr Myers will understand".
Adam was quite confident at Ava's act of playing a perfect wife and mother. Over the years no Mr Myers had never suspected her or found out her true nature. She had the ability to spin the truth in front of a person and he wouldn't suspect a thing. Besides the drug was not harmful anyway unless taken with anti depressants but he was quite sure Madeline would not tell anyone she was taking them as this would further ruin her public image and disappoint fans.
"I think to be safe, you should go to Mr Myers first. Take the wheel and spin the narrative in your favour. We can't afford his anger". Said the other man with concern.
Adam shook his head "The guilty party always complains first, and besides how did she know that Madeline knows. That will only prove the point that Madam and I are working together".
Ava also nodded her head at his explanation she turned to the man "you think that old man will believe me, once he suspects one thing, he will kick me to the lurch. He is slipping away, hiding this from me, saying this her emotions rose slightly and your incompetence is making things worse for me" she screamed.
Everyone kept quiet. They had anticipated her outburst. Any time things were not going along to plan or her way in general, it was always them who bore the fore front of her anger.
Ava stamped her hands on the table, looking at the man " such suggestions are unreliable, better think of something quickly, and I need some cash arrange it".
The man who was the financial officer at the Myers group heard this and shook his head "Madam this would not be possible, if I falsify any more accounts, it would be noticed. It's best if you ask the chairman for money".
Ava gritted her teeth, "ask the chairman for money, you think I haven't tried that approach, fix me up with something before Tuesday". She stated her words final.
The man tried to say something but Adam pulled him slightly shaking his head to stop him.
Ava took a deep breath, she could not do anything, all she could do now was pin her hopes on Madeline not saying anything in order to hide the fact she was taking anti depressants from every one. She turned to Adam "Just to be safe, let's make some countermeasures. Falsify data and make it look like she was abusing drugs, that should hold her down for a while if need be".
Just then, her phone rang. It was Kaya. She quickly instructed them on further matters before heading out and answering the call. As soon as she did, a shriek followed through
"Mom, I got in. I really got in". Another scream followed…
"Slow down" Ava chided " you got in where?"
"Let's all survive, that new variety show by Director CS. Top artistes are going to be there. Mom I am going to be famous. Kaya went on excitedly.
Ava on the other hand frowned. If this variety show was by Director CS, and it was filled with top artistes, how did Kaya get invited? "Did Jake or your father pull some strings for you?"
Kaya frowned Jake couldn't wait to ruin her and Thomas hated her presence how would they have helped her get in. But she also didn't want to tell her mother how she really got in so she nodded "I think it's dad tho, or maybe someone from production saw my file and pulled me in to please dad. Either way mom, I am going to be on the biggest variety show of the year"
Ava smiled "Congratulations what do you want for dinner, and... you should get a present for your dad"
Kaya paused slightly before replying half heartedly "I will… I will, but mom I want dumplings. I have not had them in a long while and do you want to know who my partner for the show is going to be?"
