Adam's eyes widened at Madeline's actions, he had heard various rumours about her but none projected her this wild. "Miss Myers, this is inappropriate. He said with a smile but before he finished Madeline had already moved behind him, his tie still in her hands. She circled it around his neck then bent down to whisper in his ears "Who paid you money to kill me?"
"What do you mean… what are you talking about. Doctor Adam sprung up from his seat immediately. I swore an oath, an oath you have insulted numerous times since you came into this office. I am a doctor I save lives, why would I want to kill you. He spoke as fast as he could his whole face red from anger. "Miss Myers leave my office or I would have to call security…
Madeline looked at him with a smile before walking to his table and taking a recorder she had hidden when she sat there. Waving it at him "Earlier on, when my assistant came by to pick up my drugs she must have dropped this. I am sure if I play it, there would be something interesting I could show Old master Quinn."
"You..you are bluffing"
"Would you like to take your chances… how do you think he would react when he finds out his daughter is exchanging sexual favours with her doctor. Oh she continued… he is probably going to think you forced her to do it. You have just five seconds…
Madeline began counting as Adam paced paced around the room just when she thought he was going to refuse, he finally relented. He slumped back to his chair "It was Ava. The drug wasn't going to kill just do some damage to your nerves and leave you crippled. Ma.. Madeline believe me I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen. I had no choice she was going to hurt my family".
"Did Ava kill my mother?" Madeline instantly interrupted his sob story.
"No.. did she not die by suicide?" Madeline studied his expression and he looked genuinely confused so she let it be. The person at the top of that list was now Doctor Anthony and if anyone else had something to hide, she would find out one by one after all she was not in a hurry. She picked up her bag and headed out but Adam stopped her "Er… Miss Myers, the recorder".
Oh.. my bad. Catch, she replied as she threw the recorder to him. Adam instantly caught it and then threw it to the ground stomping it aggressively till it broke into pieces. Madeline smiled "Just so you know, there is nothing in the recorder. It's … empty" her voice trailed as she left the room.
Adam stood in room pulling at his hair, a scream threatening to tear out his throat. He realized he had been played by Madeline. He quickly pulled out his phone to make a phone call but stopped. He stared at the name on the screen but couldn't bring himself to press the dial button….
Meanwhile outside the hospital, Madeline got into a cab and headed back to her apartment. She decided to send a text to Zachary about her findings. She contemplated for a little while before changing her mind, intending to give him a call. However, her hands paused for some seconds at the screen. She had seen several documents on his table earlier coupled with several partnerships oversees, she figured he would still be really busy at this time.
After a while, Madeline decided to send a naughty message, after all Zachary seemed like someone who would rarely check their messages.
Her fingers hovered across the screen before she decided [My precious hubby, I miss you… miss you so much. After all I heard today, I just want you to hold me. Too bad I can't go home tonight. You should come to my place instead so I can hold you and have a good sleep] She typed with a smile on her lips and her eyes twinkling mischievously.
After sending the message out for several minutes and no response, Madeline finally put down her phone disappointed. Just then her phone pinged with a text. She smiled as she opened it to read but it was not Zachary but Jake. [ The promotional shoot for let's survive together is tomorrow by 10am. You need to be punctual and be on a good behaviour. Don't have to much interactions with unfamiliar people and call me if anything goes wrong.] Madeline frowned at the message as it was not what she was expecting. She opened her chat with Zachary and saw he had already read her message but didn't reply.
She put down the phone and closed her eyes to rest. She soon arrived home and moved straight to shower. Serena had left but not before tidying the place and making dinner. Just then the doorbell rang, thinking it was Serena she walked to open the door In her bath towel. As she opened her door she froze. It was Zachary.
"Can't sleep without holding me?" he asked with a smirk. Under the beautiful night sky, for some reason, his presence made her heart ripple. Her hands flew to her chest immediately pressing on it lightly.
"Well… when can I come in?"
"Oh sorry I… she hadn't finished her sentence when she slipped and her bath towel came loose. Zachary immediately moved to catch her but she immediately curved her legs wrapping the towel around his head so he wouldn't see anything before picking up a blanket on the couch to cover herself. Zachary took off the towel and stared at her.
"Where did you learn to do that?"
"I don't… I do not know"
The two of them stood in the living room staring at each other before Madeline sneezed hard. Seeing Zachary still looking at her with an enquiring gaze she sighed " I really don't know, I have this blanks in my memory. I do not remember a lot of things from the past anymore"
"Go put on some clothes, let's eat"
Madeline eyes travelled down to the package in his hands. It was Korean food from her favourite brand. She smiled at him as she muttered "Hubby I thought you were coming to… eat me"
Zachary eyes darkened at her words as his gaze travelled on her body. Madeline caught his gaze and swallowed hard as Zachary moved closer to her, she grabbed her towel and ran up instantly. Zachary eyes followed all the way through till she disappeared in the corner.
