Chapter 15 - Sleeping Hollow Disease

Chambers Grand Hospital, the main hospital in Chambers City. Most of the doctors here were Commander Rank level. Three of the main doctors were at the Beast Tamer Lord rank—their beast pets specialized in medical expertise.

On the outside, the hospital was a 12-story white stone structure reinforced with beast-forged alloy—not even an earthquake or thunderstorms could shake it.

The internal divisions were divided with floors.

Mia Hill, Felix's youngest sister, who was in a coma, was located on the sixth floor. Felix was way familiar with the direction for he had been visiting here many times, so he led Krisha and Lucia while being exposed to countless cameras capturing them.

It was inevitable, Felix and Krisha walking side by side immediately became the public interest.

However, both of them were careless as long as they were uninterrupted.

The 5th to 7th floors were the Coma and Unknown Illness Wing.

It was where the current crisis was centered.

Felix knocked on the D-5 room and entered. It was not a private room, so there were five more patients accompanied by their visitors, present inside the room.

Mia Hill was covered with the privacy curtain near the wide-glass window.

Felix carried a basket of fruits as he entered inside, followed by Krisha and Lucia.

He saw his mirror-like face in a female version, sleeping peacefully. She's currently fourteen years old and she has been in a coma for two years already.

She was among the victims of what the doctor diagnosed as Sleeping Hollow Disease.

It was a type of disease where the patient fell into a coma with an unidentifiable cause.

As of now, the Sleeping Hollow Disease has existed before Chambers City was established and Mia was the last patient alive.

Most of the Hollow Disease died once their comatose state reached five years. Some died even before that, causing Felix to be anxious.

It was one of the reasons why he was desperate to earn money and became an adventurer, so that he might be able to find a cure.

Not even S-grade cities have found the cure yet, so finding one was slim to none. However, it was known that the outside of the city, where beasts roam and space rifts appeared, contained millions of mysteries that more often than not become a cure for an incurable disease from the past.

Despite the chances of finding one in a span of two years or more was slim to none, Felix wouldn't want to give up on his younger sister as long as he was still alive.

He grabbed the hand of his younger sister and smiled. He put the basket of fruits on the table and began to caress her forehead.

He whispered in her ear, "Mia, I know you can hear me. I brought my friend with you. Her name is Krisha, the daughter's mayor. She summoned a penguin as her beast pet—I seemed to recall it's your favorite pet, right?"

Krisha, who caught his words, was surprised. She glanced at her Frostwing Penguin in her embrace and finally decided to let Mia touch it.

Felix gave way to Krisha, as the latter placed the Frostwing Penguin's butt on Mia's open palm and said, "It's cold, right? That's my penguin, it's a three star beast."

Mia's finger moved slightly, causing her to be utterly surprised. Krisha was now certain that Mia was listening to her.

She said, "He's still a chick, but when he grows older, I'll make him touch you by himself.

Oh, his name is PengPeng. It suits him, right?"

Lucia, behind her, closed her eyes and tried her best not to laugh. She was still not used to the name her young miss had given to her beast pet.

Krisha, without staring at her, had an idea she was trying her best to hold back her laugh. The first time she heard it, she laughed so loudly that Krisha ignored her for hours.

Krisha glanced at Felix, curious if he found her pet's name funny because he would surely suggest changing his name—even though PengPeng seemed to like it.

To her surprise, Felix stared at Mia with a facial expression that appeared to be painted with complete shock.

She pulled her beast pet to her embrace and went closer to Felix, asking, "Hey, are you okay?"

Felix barely made a response as he continued to stare at Mia in a daze.

He was currently chatting with the Guide.

"W-What did you call the disease again?"

[It's a Spirit Meridian Withering Syndrome—that's what the mortal realm used to call it. This is based on the memory of an alchemist immortal who managed to cure it.]

"S-So, do you know the cure?"

[Of course. I could remember it.]

Felix trembled.

A sudden grasp on his wrist however woke him up from his stupor. When his consciousness returned to reality, he was taken aback by how close Krisha's face was.

He backed away and his cheeks reddened.

He turned towards the wide-glass window and asked, "W-What are you doing?"

Krisha raised her eyebrows and replied, "I should be the one to ask that. Did you see something that stunned you?"

Felix's eyes widened. He gazed at Krisha and was about to say something when the private curtain was pushed aside and Mia's doctor appeared.

She was quite stunned that there was a visitor, but she managed to compose herself and greeted Felix.

She was extremely familiar with him.

"Been a while since I've seen you. You've become an internet sensation now, huh?" She teased.

Felix was startled by her appearance and bowed deeply.

He said, "Nice to meet you again, Doctor Eleanor. Been a while."

Doctor Eleanor beamed a smile—so radiant that even Krisha was mesmerized by her beauty.

She bowed deeply and glared at Felix—the latter was bewildered by her piercing gaze.

Krisha said, "Nice to meet you, Doctor Eleanor."

"Oh, isn't this Krisha? Congratulations on your first summon, by the way."

"Thank you."

"By the way, Doctor Eleanor." Felix straightened his back and stared at her with a solemn expression. "Can I talk with you privately?"

Doctor Eleanor was surprised. She sensed how serious Felix was and said, "Alright. It'd better be important to not waste my precious time."

Felix nodded and said with a confident tone, "Of course, it is. It'll definitely pique your interest."

Doctor Eleanor was amused. She walked forward and said, "After I note down my spiritual reading on your younger sister."
