Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Gate of the Void

The Kunlun Mountains were silent, save for the rhythmic humming of the Phoenix Heart in my chest. I stood at the mouth of a cave that didn't exist on any map. My 175cm frame was silhouetted against the moonlight, my twin wings—one of shifting shadows and one of pure silver—cutting through the freezing mist.

"This is it," Xiao Yan whispered, his hand resting on the hilt of his lightning blade. "The place where the Xiao Family's records end. The Forbidden Gate."

I didn't answer. My purple eyes were fixed on the stone entrance, carved with symbols that seemed to writhe like living snakes.

10... 9... 8...

The vision came fast. I saw the stone doors sliding open, but instead of treasure, a surge of Void Energy erupted, turning the mountain into a crater. In the center of that explosion stood a figure I recognized all too well.

3... 2... 1...

"Back away, Yan! Now!" I commanded.

I threw my wings forward, creating a protective dome of energy just as the seals on the gate shattered. A shockwave of violet fire roared out, leveling the trees around us. From the dust, a holographic projection flickered to life. It was a man in a police uniform, his face weary but kind.

"Abba..." the name escaped my lips like a prayer.

It was my father, Imtiyaz. This was a message recorded ten years ago, hidden behind a blood-lock that only I could open.

"Shifa," the projection began, his voice echoing through the canyon. "If you are reading this, the world has labeled you a Villain. They did the same to me. They call it the 'Golden Key,' but it is not a key to a vault. It is a key to the Void Realm—a source of infinite energy that the Elders want to weaponize."

Xiao Yan stepped forward, his eyes wide. "So the Key... it's not an object?"

"No," the projection continued. "The Key is the DNA of the Empress. Shifa, your blood is the bridge. You were born with the Hero's lineage and raised with the Villain's strength. Only you can decide if the Void becomes a sun that lights the world or a black hole that consumes it."

Suddenly, my wings began to vibrate. The black and silver didn't just mix; they fused into a Radiant Gold. My 175cm frame felt lighter, more powerful, as if I were no longer just a human, but a goddess of balance.

"The Xiao Family didn't want to kill me to stop a Villain," I realized, my voice cold and sharp. "They wanted to harvest me to unlock the Gate."

I turned toward the dark opening of the cave. The real Gate of the Void was now open, waiting for its Queen.

"Yan," I said, looking at the Hero who had chosen to stand by me. "The secret is out. Now, we don't just fight for survival. We fight to take back the world they stole from us."

I stepped into the darkness of the Void, the golden light of my wings illuminating a path that no one had dared to walk for a thousand years. The golden light from my wings was the only thing standing between us and the absolute crushing pressure of the Void. As Xiao Yan and I stepped deeper into the cavern, the stone walls began to dissolve, replaced by a swirling vortex of purple and black energy. We weren't just in a cave anymore; we were standing at the edge of a different dimension.

"Li Xian, look!" Xiao Yan pointed his lightning blade toward the center of the vortex.

Floating in the middle of the chaos was a crystalline heart, pulsing with a rhythm that matched my own. It was the Source of the Void. Around it, four ancient stone statues stood guard, their eyes glowing with a malevolent red light.

"They've been waiting for the DNA match," I whispered, my 175cm frame tensing as the statues began to move. Their stone skin cracked, revealing bodies made of liquid metal.

One Sentinel lunged at me, its fist moving faster than a bullet.

10... 9... 8...

In the vision, I saw the Sentinel freezing time for a split second, striking my heart before I could even blink. It wasn't just fast; it was manipulating reality.

3... 2... 1...

"Yan, cover the left! I'll take the core!"

I didn't dodge. I accelerated. My golden wings snapped shut and then flared open, releasing a shockwave of 'Sovereign Energy' that countered the Sentinel's time-freeze. I collided with the lead guardian, my fist glowing with the power of the Golden Key.

CRACK!

The liquid metal shattered under my touch. But the other three were closing in. Xiao Yan let out a roar, his blue lightning intertwining with my golden aura. For the first time, a 'Hero' and a 'Villain' were fighting as one soul.

"Li Xian, now! Reach for the Heart!" Yan shouted, blocking a lethal strike meant for my neck.

I flew toward the pulsing crystal. As my fingers touched the cold surface, a surge of memories flooded my mind—not just mine, but my father's, and the ancestors before him. The Golden Key in my blood hummed in perfect resonance.

A pillar of gold and violet light erupted from the center of the mountain, piercing through the earth and shooting straight into the heavens. In that moment, every person in Shanghai—from the richest Elder to the poorest child—felt a tremor in their soul.

The Void wasn't a weapon anymore. It was mine.

I turned back to the remaining Sentinels, my eyes now burning with a divine gold fire. With a single wave of my hand, the liquid metal guardians turned to dust.

"The Xiao Family wanted a weapon," I said, my voice echoing like a goddess. "But they accidentally created a Queen."The Void Heart didn't just pulse; it sang. A haunting, low-frequency melody that vibrated through my bones and re-wrote my DNA in real-time. As my fingers sank into the liquid-crystal surface of the Heart, the golden veins on my wings began to bleed into my skin, forming intricate, glowing tattoos across my collarbone and arms.

"Li Xian, the cavern is collapsing!" Xiao Yan's voice cracked through the thunderous roar of the shifting dimensions.

He was right. The reality around us was fraying at the edges. The obsidian floor was shattering into a thousand floating shards. But I didn't feel fear. For the first time in my life, I felt... Complete.

[ Class Change: Empress of the Void Realm ]

"Yan, hold onto me!" I commanded. My voice wasn't just a sound anymore; it was a physical force that stabilized the crumbling platform beneath his feet.

I pulled my hand back from the Heart. In my palm, a miniature sun of violet and gold energy swirled—the concentrated essence of the 'Golden Key.' I didn't just possess the power; I was the power.

Suddenly, a spectral image of the Great Elder appeared in the center of the vortex. He wasn't there physically, but his astral projection looked horrified.

"Impossible!" the Elder shrieked, his ghostly form flickering. "No mortal can survive the integration of the Heart! You should have been vaporized!"

"That's the difference between us, Elder," I said, my 175cm frame hovering several feet off the ground, my two massive golden wings casting a shadow that reached the ends of the dimension. "You wanted to steal the heart. I let it choose me."

With a single flick of my wrist, I released a pulse of 'Sovereign Will.' The Elder's projection shattered into a million pieces, his connection to the Void severed forever.

The mountain shook one last time as I wrapped my wings around Xiao Yan. In a burst of golden speed, we shot upward, breaking through miles of solid rock and ice. We didn't need the tunnel anymore. I was the light that carved the path.

We emerged into the night sky of Shanghai, hovering thousands of feet above the city. The clouds parted in a perfect circle around us, lit by the golden fire of my wings. Below, the city lights looked like tiny, insignificant sparks compared to the sun I held in my hand.

"The world is going to hunt you even more now," Xiao Yan whispered, looking at my transformed, glowing eyes.

"Let them come," I replied, looking down at the Eclipse Tower in the distance. "A Villain is a threat. A Hero is a symbol. But an Empress... an Empress is a Law."
