Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 11:SHADOWS OF THE PAST

The night refused to calm.

Even after the presence vanished… even after the whispers faded…

Something lingered.

Something heavy.

Lira stood alone once more, her silver eyes dimmer now not weaker, but focused inward.

"Survived…" she repeated quietly.

Behind her, Ronan watched carefully.

"I don't like that word," he said. "It means whatever we're dealing with… isn't new."

Lira didn't respond immediately.

Because deep inside her

Something was shifting.

Memories.

Not clear… not whole…

But breaking through.

Fragments of a life she didn't fully remember.

"I need to see," she said suddenly.

Ronan frowned. "See what?"

"My past."

The voice within her stirred.

"You are not ready."

Lira's jaw tightened slightly.

"I don't have a choice."

A pause.

Then

"Then be prepared for the truth."

Without another word, Lira closed her eyes.

The wind around her slowed… softened… then stilled completely.

Her breathing became steady.

Controlled.

Ronan stepped closer, uneasy.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

No answer.

Then

Her eyes snapped open.

Blinding silver light burst from them.

And the world around her

Shattered.

Darkness.

Endless.

Cold.

Then

A flicker.

Light.

A memory.

Lira stood… but not as herself.

She was… different.

Stronger.

Dressed in flowing silver that shimmered like liquid moonlight.

A crown rested on her head.

And before her

Thousands of wolves knelt.

"Your Majesty…"

The voices echoed.

Respectful.

Loyal.

Powerful.

"I remember…" Lira whispered.

But the scene shifted.

Violently.

The sky turned red.

Fire spread across the land.

Wolves running.

Screaming.

Falling.

Betrayal.

War.

Her chest tightened.

"No…"

Another figure appeared.

Cloaked in darkness.

Familiar.

Too familiar.

Standing before her.

"You trusted them," the figure said coldly.

"And they destroyed you."

Lira's breath caught.

"I know you…" she whispered.

The figure stepped closer.

"Of course you do."

For a brief moment

The darkness around the figure flickered.

And Lira saw it.

A face.

Not fully clear

But enough.

Her eyes widened in shock.

"You were there…" she said.

"When I died."

The figure tilted its head slightly.

"Yes."

The memory surged again.

Pain.

A blade.

Piercing through her chest.

Her own blood.

Her own people turning against her.

"You weren't just there…" Lira said, her voice shaking slightly.

"You were part of it."

Silence.

Then

A soft, chilling laugh.

"I was more than part of it."

The memory cracked.

Splintered.

Shaking under the weight of truth.

"I ended you."

Lira's eyes snapped wide.

Power surged violently through her.

"No… that's not possible"

"You were too powerful," the figure continued calmly.

"Too loved… too feared… too difficult to control."

The flames in the memory rose higher.

"You were a goddess among wolves."

A pause.

"And gods must fall."

The vision began to collapse.

But one final truth echoed

"You were not betrayed by strangers…"

The figure's voice darkened.

"You were betrayed by your own."

Lira's eyes flew open.

The real world slammed back into place.

She staggered slightly but didn't fall.

The wind exploded around her violently.

Ronan rushed forward.

"Lira!" he called. "What happened?!"

But she didn't answer.

Her expression,

Was no longer calm.

Her eyes burned brighter than ever before.

Not just with power.

But with something else.

Rage.

Pure.

Cold.

Focused rage.

"They killed me…" she said quietly.

Ronan froze.

"What?"

Lira's fists clenched at her sides.

"My own people…" she continued.

Her voice trembled slightly but not with weakness.

With fury.

"They destroyed me."

The air around her began to crack under the pressure of her rising power.

"And the one hunting me now…"

Her eyes darkened.

"They were there."

Ronan's expression hardened.

"So this isn't just an enemy…"

"No," Lira said.

"This is unfinished business."

The wind roared louder.

The ground beneath her feet split slightly.

"I was a queen…"

Her voice deepened.

Layered again with that ancient echo.

"A goddess…"

Her gaze lifted slowly.

"And they thought killing me would end everything."

A dangerous, terrifying calm settled over her.

"They were wrong."

Ronan took a slow step back.

Not out of fear,

But because he could feel it.

Something had changed.

Again.

"You're remembering everything now…" he said quietly.

Lira nodded once.

"Not everything."

Her lips curved slightly.

"But enough."

She turned toward the dark forest ahead.

The place where the enemy had appeared.

"They wanted me gone…"

Her eyes glowed intensely.

"They failed."

The wind circled her like a storm ready to break.

"And now…"

Her voice dropped.

Cold.

Final.

"I'm coming for all of them."
