~Katherine's POV
"He is still under the effect of the anesthesia," the doctor explained calmly. "He will wake up once it wears off."
I nodded slowly.
"So he is okay?" I asked carefully.
The doctor gave a reassuring smile.
"Yes," he said. "He should wake up soon."
A few minutes later, the doctor and the nurse finished their checks and quietly left the room. The door closed softly behind them, and the room became calm again.
Mathew immediately moved closer to Jasmine's bed and began entertaining her. He started making funny faces and telling her small jokes, and Jasmine laughed so loudly that it filled the room with warmth. Watching them together made my heart feel lighter. For a moment, it almost felt like the terrible day we had just gone through had never happened.
I glanced toward Aaron, who was standing quietly beside Hanith's bed. He was watching his son carefully, as if he was trying to memorize every small detail about him.
I took a slow breath before speaking.
