THE CEREMONY
One month had passed since Shukumei was chosen by the Five.
The day had finally arrived.
The initiation ceremony for the Second Grandmaster of Light was set to begin.
Golden sunlight stretched across the Land of Sakura, illuminating the village in a radiant glow. The air buzzed with anticipation as preparations reached their final stages.
Inside his home, Shukumei stood before a mirror, adjusting his formal attire. His expression was calm but beneath it lay a storm of emotion.
Today, everything would change.
Suddenly
A sound.
He turned quickly.
"Hamari?"
From another room, he heard her retching.
Without hesitation, Shukumei rushed to her side. He found her leaning forward, clearly unwell.
"Hamari!" he said, kneeling beside her. "What's wrong?"
She wiped her mouth, catching her breath.
"I'm… okay honey," she insisted softly.
Shukumei frowned.
"You don't look okay."
She looked at him her expression shifting.
"There's something I need to tell you."
A NEW LIFE
Shukumei's concern turned to confusion.
"What is it?"
Hamari placed a gentle hand over her stomach.
"I'm pregnant."
Silence.
For a brief moment, the world stopped.
Shukumei's eyes widened, processing her words.
"…We're… having a child?"
Hamari nodded softly.
"Yes."
Then His face lit up.
A joy unlike anything he had ever felt spread across him.
"A child…" he whispered.
He placed his hand over hers, overwhelmed.
"I'm… going to be a father…"
A soft laugh escaped him, filled with disbelief and happiness.
After a moment, he looked at her again.
"Do you know… if it's a boy or a girl?"
Hamari shook her head, smiling.
"Not yet. But… I want a daughter."
Shukumei chuckled.
"I was hoping for a son."
He paused.
"So Inochi can have someone to protect… someone to grow strong with."
At that moment, the door slid open.
Inochi stepped out, fully dressed.
"What are you talking about?"
Shukumei turned toward him, smiling.
"Inochi… you're going to have a sibling."
Inochi froze.
"…Really?!"
Hamari nodded.
"Yes. They'll be here in the winter."
Inochi's face lit up.
"I want a little brother!" he said excitedly. "When is he coming?!"
Shukumei laughed.
"Not that soon."
He then glanced toward the window.
"…It's time."
He turned back to them.
"I need to meet with the elders first. You two come to the ceremony after."
Hamari nodded.
"We will."
With one last look, Shukumei stepped out.
THE NEW AGE OF SHINOBI
The ceremonial grounds were filled.
Villagers, shinobi, elders everyone had gathered.
At the center stood a massive statue of the Buddha. Before it, a great gong rested.
Shukumei approached.
The leaders of the hierarchy stood waiting.
"You're ready," one of them said.
Shukumei nodded.
"I am."
Moments later…
GONG!
The sound echoed across the entire village.
Silence fell.
Karin stepped forward, her presence commanding.
"Today…" she began, her voice clear, "we stand together to honor the life of our first Grandmaster of Light Haru Yaskue."
A wave of emotion moved through the crowd.
"But we must also move forward."
She raised her hand.
"It is our duty to carry on his legacy. To preserve the light he left behind."
A pause.
"With great honor… we present to you…"
The crowd leaned in.
"The Second Grandmaster of the Land of Light…"
She turned.
"Shukumei Hotoke."
SHUKUMEI THE SECOND GRANDMASTER
The crowd erupted.
Cheers.
Applause.
Voices calling his name.
Shukumei stepped forward, calm yet powerful.
Before him, the leaders presented a robe a golden-yellow dragon robe.
A symbol of authority.
Of legacy.
Of light.
Shukumei bowed deeply.
Then, slowly He put it on.
The moment he did the wind shifted.
Without hesitation, Shukumei stepped forward then leapt.
He soared into the sky, rising above the village, his cloak flowing behind him like a blazing sun.
The crowd roared louder.
Below, Hamari gripped Inochi's hand, smiling with pride.
"Look!" Inochi shouted. "It's Master Shukumei! He looks so cool!"
Hamari laughed softly.
"Yes… he does."
Her eyes shimmered.
That's the man I love…
Above them, Shukumei raised his arm, waving to the people.
But within his thoughts spoke.
This is it, Haru… I've become the Second Grandmaster.
You entrusted me with your will… with your son…
His expression hardened with resolve.
I swear… I will protect this village.
I will carry your legacy.
Not as a duty…
But as your brother.
A faint smile formed.
Thank you… Haru.
MISSION ASSIGNED
One week later The office of the Grandmaster.
Shukumei sat behind his desk, the golden robe draped behind him.
Across from him stood Yamata Orochi.
"I need you to summon Kenji Midori… and Smoke Sensai" Shukumei said.
Yamata nodded.
Without hesitation, he released a small serpent from his sleeve.
It slithered toward the window and disappeared into the distance.
"The message will reach them," Yamata said.
Shukumei nodded.
"Good."
KENJI AND SMOKE
Moments later the door opened.
Kenji entered first.
Behind him Smoke.
A mysterious figure, cloaked entirely in black, his face hidden but eyes show behind a mask.
A faint haze surrounded him, as if he were never fully present.
Shukumei's eyes sharpened.
"I have a mission for you both."
They stood silently.
"You will travel to the Land of Shadows."
Kenji nodded.
"To inform Itami Hinotori that you have become Grandmaster?"
"Exactly," Shukumei replied.
He placed a scroll on the table.
"This is a peace pact.
Deliver it to the Kurayami leadership."
His voice grew firm.
"We will maintain peace."
Kenji stepped forward, taking the scroll.
"We understand."
Without another word
They left.
THE LAND OF FIRE
Their journey was swift.
Soon, they reached the border of the Land of Fire.
Flames flickered in the distance. The air was hotter. Heavier.
Smoke spoke first.
"This route is faster."
Kenji frowned.
"It's also dangerous."
He looked ahead.
"I'd rather avoid conflict."
Smoke let out a low chuckle.
"Or… you're afraid?"
Kenji's eyes narrowed.
"I'm not afraid."
"Then prove it."
Silence.
Then Kenji stepped forward.
"Fine."
KENJI & SMOKE VS KAI
They moved through the trees
Then suddenly…
SHING!
Shuriken flew toward them.
Kenji reacted instantly.
"Wind class blowing whistle"
A gust erupted, deflecting the blades.
A figure emerged.
A young shinobi in a red kimono, with brown hair and glowing yellow eyes.
"Kai," he said coldly.
"Why are you here?"
Kenji stepped forward.
"We're on a mission. Sent by the Grandmaster of Light."
Kai's expression darkened.
"Haru… your people…"
His fists clenched.
"They're the reason my friends are dead."
The air grew tense.
Smoke stepped forward slightly.
"Then you'll see them again soon."
Kai smirked.
"We'll see."
He formed a seal.
"Fire Class phoenix Hawk Technique!"
A massive flaming hawk erupted forward.
Kenji reacted instantly.
"Metal class metal barrier"
A shimmering shield formed blocking the attack completely.
Kai's eyes widened.
"Not bad…"
He leapt forward… Kenji was kicked into the ground.
Kai turned and Punches flew toward Smoke.
Smoke the attack then attempt to strike but Kai landed a hit, sending Smoke back.
Smoke's body dispersed into smoke.
Kenji rose, steadying himself.
Kenji rushed at Kai, drawing his blade as they clashed, sparks flying with every strike.
The sound of their blades echoed across the battlefield.
Kai, an elite swordsman known for his precision and skill, managed to overpower Kenji, forcing him to the ground.
With a swift kick, Kai sent Kenji sprawling and raised his sword, aiming to finish him off.
But as Kai's blade came down, Kenji transformed his body into solid metal.
The sword struck him and shattered on impact.
Kai's eyes widened in shock. "Metal Class… wait. I know who you are, You're Kenji of the Midori Clan… also known as the Metal Vortex."
Seizing the moment, Kenji infused his metallic body with lightning, sending a powerful shock through Kai.
The force sent Kai flying backward, injured and stunned.
From a distance, Smoke watched the battle, his eyes narrowed and calculating, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Kenji then weaves a sign and speaks
"We end this now."
He formed a seal.
"Nature Style Elemental Dragon technique!"
Four dragons of different elements surged forward Striking Kai.
He crashed to the ground.
Before he could rise Smoke reformed above him.
Pinning him down with his foot on Kai's chest.
A kunai formed in his hand Flames igniting around it.
"This is the end."
SMOKE'S PERCEPTION
"Stop."
Kenji's voice cut through.
"That's not our mission."
Smoke didn't move.
"Our mission is peace."
Smoke tilted his head slightly.
"Peace… requires action."
Kenji's eyes narrowed.
"That's not what the Grandmaster ordered."
Silence.
Then Smoke struck.
The blade pierced Kai's heart.
Instant.
Final.
Kenji froze.
Smoke stood, unfazed.
"If I didn't do that," he said calmly, "this mission would have failed."
He turned toward Kenji.
"Emotion is weakness."
His voice was cold.
"Remember that."
Kenji stared at him a chill running through his body.
Something wasn't right.
But for now They continued forward.
Toward the Land of Shadows.
A SHADOW IN LIGHT
Far away In the Land of Light Shukumei stood beneath the sun.
Unaware.
That while a new era of peace had begun a shadow had already started to grow within it.
