THE WATERFALL
Upon arriving at the waterfall nestled within the mountains of the village, Inochi stood still for a moment, taking in the calming presence of nature. The sound of rushing water echoed through the air, blending with the gentle sway of the surrounding trees.
With a focused expression, he removed his shirt and placed it aside before sitting cross-legged on the ground.
Slowly, he closed his eyes.
He began his meditation.
Inochi centered both his mind and body, allowing himself to become one with the environment. He focused on the rhythm of the cascading water, imagining himself as fluid—formless, adaptable, and ever-moving.
"I am water…" he whispered internally.
His breathing slowed. His aura steadied.
The deeper he sank into his meditation, the more the world around him seemed to fade—until only the sound of the waterfall remained.
KENJI SENSEI
Suddenly, Inochi's senses sharpened.
He felt it a presence.
His eyes snapped open as he quickly rose to his feet, instinctively reaching for his sword and slowly unsheathing it.
"Who's there?"
A familiar voice answered.
"Relax."
Kenji stepped into view from behind the trees, a faint smile on his face.
Inochi exhaled in relief. "Oh Kenji Sensei! You scared me."
Kenji chuckled lightly. "Good. That means your awareness is improving."
Inochi sheathed his sword and grinned. "What brings you here?"
Kenji crossed his arms. "I see potential in you. I figured I'd help you train."
Inochi's eyes lit up instantly.
"Really?! That's perfect!" he said excitedly. "I want to master water-class techniques so I can use the Elemental Dragon Technique!"
Kenji raised a brow. "Ambitious."
Then his tone became more serious.
"But slow down. That kind of technique requires discipline, control, and time. You can't rush mastery."
Inochi nodded, though his determination didn't fade.
KENJI TRAINS INOCHI
Kenji walked toward the riverbank, gesturing for Inochi to follow.
"When I trained to use the Elemental Dragon Technique," Kenji began, "it took me six months just to gain proper control over all five elemental auras."
Inochi blinked in surprise. "Six months…?"
Kenji nodded. "And that's after already having experience with each element. Your father was the one who taught me."
At that, Inochi's expression shifted slightly—pride mixing with determination.
Kenji continued, "I'm glad I get to teach you. Not just for your growth but so this technique continues to live on. It deserves to be passed down properly… without losing its essence."
Inochi smiled. "I won't let you down."
FOCUSING
Kenji motioned toward the water.
"Sit. Continue where you left off."
Both of them lowered themselves to the ground.
Inochi closed his eyes once more, steadying his breathing. He cleared his thoughts and focused on the sound of the flowing water, letting it guide his awareness.
He began forming hand signs slowly.
The air shifted.
The water along the riverbank trembled slightly.
Kenji's eyes widened just a bit.
"Good," he said quietly. "Stay focused. Don't break your concentration."
Inochi formed another sign.
Suddenly, the water rose into the air lifting in a smooth arc before crashing down directly onto him.
Splash!
Inochi gasped as he was completely drenched.
MOTHER NATURE
Kenji burst into laughter.
"Well," he said, trying to contain himself, "it looks like the water has accepted you."
Inochi wiped his face, slightly embarrassed but smiling.
"So that means… I can use water techniques now?"
Kenji nodded. "It means the element is responding to your aura. That's the first step."
AURA CONTROL
Kenji stood up and began walking along the riverbank, signaling Inochi to follow.
"If you want to master water," he said, "you need control not just power. Let me show you something."
WATER TSUNAMI
Kenji stopped and formed a serie of hand sign to the ground.
"Water Class: Mini Tsunami."
With a swift motion, the river surged upward, forming a powerful wave that rose nearly ten feet into the air before crashing forward.
Inochi's eyes widened.
"That's incredible!"
Kenji nodded. "This is primarily a defensive technique. It's designed to counter fire-based attacks."
He turned to Inochi. "Now you try. Focus your aura and expand the water before releasing it."
Inochi nodded and formed the signs and touches the ground.
He concentrated, extending his aura outward.
The water began to rise slowly at first, then stronger forming a wave nearly five feet tall.
Kenji blinked in surprise.
"On your first try…?"
Inochi released the wave, letting it crash forward.
Kenji crossed his arms, impressed. "You're a fast learner."
WATER CLASS TIGER BULLET
Inochi turned eagerly. "Can you show me an offensive move too?"
Kenji smirked slightly. "Of course."
He pointed toward a distant tree.
"Water Class: Dragon Bullet."
Kenji formed the signs and extended his hand.
A concentrated sphere of water shot forward at incredible speed—
BOOM!
It pierced straight through the tree trunk.
Inochi's jaw dropped. "Water can do that?!"
Kenji nodded. "It's not about the element it's about pressure, speed, and control. Water becomes deadly when condensed and accelerated."
He looked at Inochi.
"Your turn."
PRECISION TRAINING
Inochi took a deep breath and formed the signs.
He focused his aura into his palm and released it a slow-moving water bullet drifted forward.
Kenji shook his head slightly. "More aura.
More focus."
Inochi tried again.
This time, the projectile moved faster but veered off target.
"Again," Kenji said calmly.
Inochi steadied himself, inhaling deeply.
He focused entirely on the center of the tree.
His aura condensed.
He fired.
CRACK!
The water bullet pierced straight through the trunk.
Inochi stared at his hand in disbelief.
Kenji smiled. "That's it."
PROGRESS AND POTENTIAL
Kenji placed a hand on Inochi's shoulder.
"You've made excellent progress today. But don't forget this is only the beginning."
He gestured toward the river.
"Continue meditating. Build your connection with water. Nature responds to those who understand it."
Inochi nodded, determined.
REST AND DISCIPLINE
Kenji sighed lightly. "That's enough for today. You've used a lot of aura."
Inochi shook his head. "I want to keep going. I can't lose to Tosuke."
Kenji smirked. "You won't improve if you exhaust yourself. Rest is part of training."
Reluctantly, Inochi nodded.
Kenji walked him back toward the village.
"We'll continue tomorrow," he said. "Same place."
WELCOME HOME
When they arrived, Inochi bowed.
"Thank you, Kenji Sensei."
Kenji waved as he left.
Inochi entered his home, where Hamari greeted him warmly.
"Welcome back. How was training?"
Inochi smiled. "Great. I'm getting stronger."
She chuckled. "Go take a shower. I'll prepare dinner."
FAMILY MOMENT
After cleaning up, Inochi sat down at the table.
"I have exams coming up," he said. "I need to get stronger… I don't want to lose—to Tosuke or anyone else."
He paused.
"…And I want to protect Kurai."
Hamari smiled softly. "You've grown fond of her, haven't you?"
Inochi looked away, slightly embarrassed.
SHUKUMEI'S INVESTIGATION PT. 2
At that moment, Shukumei entered the room.
"Inochi," he said, "how is your training progressing?"
Inochi nodded. "The water responds to me now. I've learned two techniques but I still have a long way to go."
Shukumei smiled faintly.
" will train you myself when I have time."
Then his expression grew serious.
"I've uncovered more information… about the shinobi from the Land of Fire."
Inochi leaned forward.
"His name was Kai."
Shukumei continued, "He was the son of the Fire Grandmaster…
Inochi's eyes widened.
"…What does that mean?"
Shukumei's gaze hardened.
"It means… this could escalate into war."
Silence filled the room.
But then Shukumei placed a reassuring hand on Inochi's shoulder.
"Do not fear," he said firmly. "As Grandmaster, I will do everything in my power to prevent that outcome."
Inochi nodded slowly.
Outside, the wind carried the petals of the sakura trees into the night.
The peace they knew… was beginning to tremble.
