The school day stretched longer than usual.
Christopher tried to focus---on lectures,on jokes from Evan ,on Leo's quiet presence beside him--but his mind kept drifting back to one thought .
Zia .
By lunch ,he slipped a small folded note into the book she'd left on her desk earlier.
No names.
No explanations.
Just a place.
Store room.After last bell.
Zia found it an hour later.
Her heartbeat betrayed her calm face.
The corridors emptied slowly after school.voices faded. Footsteps disappeared.
The store room smelled faintly of dust and old paper. Light filtered through the high window,soft and golden.
Christopher was already there, leaning against a shelf ,hands in his pockets.
Zia stepped inside and closed the door quietly.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Comfortable silence.
The kind that didn't ask questions.
"You okay ?" Christopher asked softly.
Zia nodded. "I am ...here."
That was answer enough.
She moved closer --slow ,deliberate .Close enough that he could feel her warmth. Close enough that backing away would've meant lying to himself.
"You looked uncomfortable with Jason today ," he said ,not accusing. Just observing.
Zia exhaled."I don't feel seen there ."
Christopher swallowed.
Before he could respond, Zia reached out --fingers curling lightly into the front of his uniform, grounding herself.
Then she did it.
She leaned in.
The kiss was gentle at first--hesitant,unsure--then real.Lips meeting lips.A quiet promise made without words.
Christopher froze for half a second.
Then he responded.
Careful,soft.like he was afraid to break something precious.
When they pulled back,foreheads resting together, both breathing unevenly.
"This doesn't change anything, " Christopher said quietly.
Zia smiled. "It changes everything. Just not outside this room."
He smiled back--small ,genuine.
" Secret ," he agreed.
Outside, sofee watched the closed store room door from the end of the corridor.
And frowned.
