THANE'S POV
I held my little mate's body in my hands; she was so beautiful. Running all the way to my chambers, 'Tell the doctor to be in my room in the next five minutes,' I mind-linked my beta as I dropped my mate on my bed. She looks so pale and small. I want to protect her at all costs. A knock came at my door. "Come in," I replied harshly for being interrupted. The doctor came in with a few nurses, my beta following them behind. 'We need to change her clothes,' the doctor said. The loudest growl came out of my mouth as I snarled at the doctor. 'No one looks at her body except me,' I growled. Marching towards the doctor, who was shaking in fear. 'Good,' Dimitry, my wolf said. 'You have to calm down. She needs to change her clothes, but the doctor wouldn't do it. It is going to be female nurses.' My beta dragged me out of the room; I made a promise to punish him after she wakes up. I have so many questions, like 'Who is she? Where did she come from? Why can't I reach her wolf side? What happened?' I don't even know where to start.
It's been 4 hours, and they aren't out of the room yet, and nobody is talking to me. I stood up wanting to break down the door; it was pulled open as they all came out. 'I need to speak with you, Alpha.' I don't know the name of the doctor. Nodding, I walked into my room, where my mate lay down; she was wearing one of my shirts. 'Go ahead.' I sat beside her as my beta closed the door, standing beside it. 'Alpha, she is stable now, but there is something wrong.' Narrowing my eyes at him, he continues, 'She is not healing, but she has a werewolf gene; she is healing like a human.' I stared at my mate confused. I nodded for him to go. 'Don't let anyone know about this?' I heard my beta say, 'Yes, Beta Ethan.' The door opened and closed, signalling that I am alone with my beta and unconscious mate. 'What are you going to do?' 'Find out everything about my mate from those filth in the dungeons and check every werewolf pack to know which one she belongs to.' Bowing his head, he left. She looks so peaceful; my eyes roam around her face, taking pictures of every curve and mark on her face in my memory. My eyes darken as I see the bandages and cuts all over her body. I stare at her white-dyed hair; it looks natural, but that can't be. 'Alpha, Gamma 'Ivan is back,' I sighed because I have to go. 'Wait in my office,' I mind-linked him. Planting a kiss on my mate's forehead, I left the room.
'The council is here,' Ivan informed me. The news travelled faster than I expected, and it hasn't been up to 7 hours. Walking into the meeting room, I am met with the whispers. I hate noise; it's like a bug in my ears. Sitting at the head of the table, 'My king, we've heard that you have a woman in your custody?' I looked at the first one to break the silence that I was enjoying. Waiting for an answer that I am not giving, he clears his throat but is still met with my silence. 'Why did you call this meeting?' It was Ivan that asked, turning my chair so I am facing the glass windows. I stared at the forest like it was more interesting than this meeting. 'We want to know if the child is your mate.' 'When he is ready to tell you who is in his custody and the position he or she has, he will contact you.' My beta spoke; I wondered when he came in. Bowing, the council left, but not without whispering to themselves about how I snubbed them. I think I need to pay them a visit one by one; maybe that will smooth their anger and my boredom. It is only when I hear two hearts beat that I turn around. 'What do you have?' I asked my beta. 'They didn't know where she came from; they found her passed out in the forest and decided to help her.' Wanting to sleep with her is now helping her, assholes, I thought. 'What about the pack she belongs to?' I asked. 'Well...the thing is that she doesn't have any record at all, like nothing comes out when I try to find her name through her description. I don't think she is even from any pack, but she couldn't be rogue. I am confused; I really need my mate to wake up and answer all my questions. The moon goddess blessed me with her luck as a guard barged into the meeting room; bowing his head, he whispered something into my beta's ear. Smart guy knows not to talk to me. 'I think your little mate has awoken from her slumber and is now threatening anybody who dares to come close to her with a kitchen knife.' I am amused by her. And also she has injured two of our best warriors within a blink of an eye' Standing, I walked out of the room. Standing at the top of the staircase, I saw my mate, and she was wearing my shirt. I should be turned on, but not with the unmated wolf staring at her legs. 'I am getting out of here, so everyone stand back,' she yelled, pointing her knife around. She looked crazy but still hot. 'Where the fuck is the exit?' she cursed, frowning at the language. 'Tell your fucking alpha that I am leaving here and he can't do anything to stop me,' and she is challenging me. Amused, I head down the stairs. 'Why don't you tell me yourself, little mate?' She tensed up before slowly turning towards where I stood. Ocean blue eyes met my brown eyes; she opened her lips to say something but closed them back, biting her bottom lip. My eyes watched the movement; she gasps as I am sure she can see my eyes are pitched black. Taking a step forward, she took a step backward; smirking, I took more steps forward as she too took more steps backward till her back hit the wall. Trying to run in the opposite direction, I caged her by placing my hands at both sides of her body. Her breath hit my face as I stared at her; she looked so good. 'GET OUT EVERYONE!!!!' I mind-linked everyone. 'Why don't you tell me what you were saying earlier?' My voice was hoarse as I stared at her.
