Chapter 20 - Tease

Slowly, almost regally, Silas rose from the depths, like Piccolo in DBSSH movie.

He simply ascended—water streaming off him in silver sheets, body completely untouched by the cold or the wet.

He hovered a foot above the surface, bare feet inches from the rippling black mirror, arms loose at his sides.

Steam curled lazily from his skin as the remaining droplets flash-evaporated in the cool night air.

He stepped forward onto solid ground as though the hole had never existed. The moment his foot touched concrete, the rest of the water began to boil away—rising in thick, ghostly pillars of steam that spiraled upward and vanished into the rafters. In seconds the hole was empty again, only wet stains and faint mist remaining.

Silas turned to face them, "Well," he said, voice low and smug, lips curving into that trademark smirk, "now you know how strong I am."

He knew exactly what he was doing.

The casual display, the slow undress, the effortless annihilation, the dramatic exit—it was all bait. And from the wide-eyed, slack-jawed looks on their faces, it had worked perfectly.

The stray's energy hadn't just been defeated; it had been erased so thoroughly that not even a whisper of demonic residue lingered.

Only Silas remained, standing there like he'd just finished a light workout.

He bent down, picked up his pants, and stepped into them without hurry. Shirt next. Shoes last.

"Alright," he said once he was fully dressed, brushing imaginary dust from his sleeve, "who's up for ramen? I saw a little shop a couple blocks back when we came here."

He started walking—right through the middle of them—hands in his pockets, shoulders relaxed.

No one moved at first.

Rias blinked, then let out a soft, incredulous laugh.

"He did that on purpose, didn't he?"

"Yep," Kiba replied immediately, smirking as he crossed his arms. "Definitely."

Akeno's giggle bubbled up—bright and delighted. She broke into a quick, graceful run, catching up to Silas and looping her arm possessively through his.

"My, my, Silas," she purred, pressing close enough that he could feel the warmth of her through their clothes. "You really know how to make an impression."

Rias rolled her eyes fondly but hurried after them anyway, not about to be left behind. She fell into step on Silas's other side, chin high, though her cheeks were still faintly pink.

Koneko stayed rooted a moment longer, staring at the now-empty hole. Her expression was unreadable—except for the tiniest widening of her eyes.

'…Cool,'she thought.

Then she jogged forward, slipping past everyone to walk directly in front of Silas like a small, silent honor guard.

Kiba lingered last.

He glanced back at the dry, empty pit one final time—eyebrows raised in quiet respect—then shook his head with a small, amused smile.

"Show-off," he muttered under his breath.

And followed at his own easy pace, hands in his pockets, the faint echo of their footsteps fading into the Kuoh night.

....

The weekend passed quietly—almost uneventfully. Time moved forward without anything particularly noteworthy happening on campus. Students rested, some studied, others wasted their days however they pleased.

But one event did occur—something that would quietly ripple through Kuoh Academy. The perverted dragon, Issei Hyoudou, died. And just like in the anime, he was reborn as a devil.

On a Monday morning, he rose from his bed feeling… different. His body felt lighter, stronger somehow. His senses were sharper, his mind strangely clear yet confused at the same time. He stared at his hands, clenching and unclenching them slowly as if trying to confirm that he was truly alive.

The memory of the fallen angel, the spear of light, and the crimson-haired girl who saved him still lingered in the back of his mind.

Everything had changed for him.

But Issei wasn't the main character of this story.

So let's move back to someone far more interesting.

Silas.

At the moment, Silas was sitting comfortably inside the Student Council office alongside Sona Sitri and her peerage.

The office itself was neat and organized, just as one would expect from Sona. Sunlight streamed in through the tall windows, illuminating the polished wooden desks and neatly stacked paperwork spread across the room.

Every member of the council was busy.

Pens scratched across paper, documents were sorted, and quiet discussions occasionally passed between members as they handled their daily responsibilities.

Sona's peerage consisted mostly of girls. Elegant, disciplined, and frighteningly efficient. With the exception of one unfortunate soul.

Saji Genshirou—the lone male among them.

Silas sat lazily on the couch near the wall, leaning back comfortably as if the office belonged to him. One arm rested along the back of the couch while his other hand loosely held his phone, though he wasn't actually using it.

He looked bored. Very noticeably bored.

His eyes drifted around the room as he watched everyone working. Normally he didn't mind sitting around and observing, but today it felt unusually dull.

For the first time …hee couldn't wait for the bell to ring so school could start.

Sona noticed. Of course she did. She always noticed. Her eyes briefly lifted from the documents in front of her, landing on Silas. She studied him for a moment—the relaxed posture, the wandering gaze, the faint boredom written on his face.

After a few seconds, she quietly stood up.

"I'll be back during break," she said calmly to the room.

The other council members didn't question it. They simply nodded and continued their work.

Sona walked toward Silas. Her heels made soft clicking sounds against the wooden floor until she stopped directly in front of him.

Silas looked up. For a brief moment, Sona hesitated. A faint blush appeared across her cheeks.

"Would you… like to go for a walk?" she asked.

Silas turned his head toward her, mildly surprised—but only for a second.

A small smile appeared on his face.

"Sure," he said easily. "That would be nice."

Without another word, the two of them left the office. The door closed softly behind them. The room fell silent again.

For several seconds no one spoke.

Then—

Saji slowly lifted his head from his desk. His eyes drifted toward the door.

"…Is that guy dating Miss Sona?" he asked.

His voice carried a mixture of confusion, disbelief, and mild concern.

He was, after all, the only guy in the room. Tsubaki Shinra sat calmly at her desk nearby, glasses resting neatly on her face as she continued reviewing paperwork.

She didn't even look up at first. But after a moment, she slowly turned her eyes toward Saji.

She stared at him. Silently. Her expression completely unreadable. Then she simply looked back down at her papers and continued writing.

Saji sighed softly.

'…I'll take that as a no,' he thought.

....

Outside, the air was cool and calm. Silas and Sona walked side by side along one of Kuoh Academy's quiet pathways, the sound of their footsteps mixing with the distant chatter of students scattered across campus.

The trees lining the path swayed gently in the wind.

A calm moment. Neither of them spoke for a little while. Eventually they stopped near the edge of the courtyard where the sky was clearly visible above the school buildings.

Silas tilted his head slightly as he looked up.

Gray clouds had begun gathering overhead, slowly spreading across the sky.

"Looks like it's going to rain," he said casually.

Sona nodded.

Her gaze briefly shifted toward him before returning to the sky.

"Yes," she said softly.

There was a short pause before she spoke again.

"I heard Rias has a new pawn."

Silas hummed quietly. "Yeah, I heard that too." He placed his hands into his pockets. "Kinda surprising… but honestly, it might be the right choice."

He glanced at her. "Seeing how they kinda lack power-wise, like I said before."

Sona nodded slightly. "Yes, I remember." She adjusted her glasses gently. "How do you think this will fix that?" she asked.

Silas shrugged.

"Well, the guy has a Sacred Gear," he said. "And those aren't something to joke about." His gaze drifted across the campus. "From what I've heard anyway."

He exhaled slowly. "But in the end… we'll just have to watch and see."

Silas turned toward her fully.

Sona looked up at him. Before she could react— Silas casually reached out and patted her head.

"I'll see you later, Sona."

Then he turned and began walking away, heading down the stairs that led back toward the main school building.

Sona froze in place. Her face slowly turned red. She stood there silently, watching his back disappear into the distance.

'Why does he keep doing that in public…?' she thought.

Her fingers lightly touched the spot where he had patted her head.

'At least this time none of my peerage members saw.' She let out a small breath. Still blushing.
