Silas walked towards the entrance and felt numerous eyes on him.
It was much calmer than yesterday, and the conversations were much more tame.
Silas smiled to himself. Soon the novelty will be over and I can blend in.
He entered the school and made his way towards his locker. I wonder what my first class is today?
He arrived at his locker and fiddled the lock open, he looked at the schedule.
English… sigh.
I picked up my English books, just then I felt something, a cold aura, right at my locker.
I closed the locker and turned my head to the right. There stood a cute and petite girl, with amber eyes.
"Hello!" She said with a bright smile.
Silas raised an eyebrow. Are we this close?
"Hey."
Alice seemed unbothered by the unenthusiastic response.
"I saw that you sat alone at lunch yesterday, so I wanted to invite you to sit with me and my family today."
Silas was thoughtful. He liked the front row, but sitting at the Cullen table… that's more of the stage's territory.
He hesitated, then said.
"We can see."
Alice nodded with a smile, it was as if he had already agreed.
"What class do you have now?" Alice asked.
Silas raised the book in his hand so she could see.
"I got English."
As he said that he saw a hint of pity flash in Alice's eyes. Was there something wrong with English?
"Well, I got history first class." She said as she started to walk away, but she turned around one last time.
"I'll see you at lunch." She smiled and walked away with a little bounce in her step.
Silas shook his head. Was he being manipulated? Heh, it's not that easy.
He walked towards the English class.
As he arrived and walked in, the teacher arranged a seat for him. It was furthest down in the right corner. Arguably the most desired spot.
He put down his books and sat down, the classroom was quite empty, he was one of the first to arrive.
Silas looked out the window… it was just as dark and depressing as usual.
Suddenly he felt the table vibrate and a loud sound was heard. He turned his head and saw that someone had put down their books beside him. He turned his head upward and saw a beautiful but cold face.
Rosalie?
Silas just took a look then turned to look out the window. She didn't seem to like me much, her face was quite cold and she looked like I had offended her.
Sigh.
"Aren't you gonna greet your deskmate?" Rosalie said, face expressionless.
Silas turned to look at her, she was now seated.
"Hello, deskmate, I'm Silas, 17 years old, and I like…"
"STOP! The name was enough."
Silas nodded. This girl think she can outsmart me? That's just a pipe dream.
"Aren't you gonna introduce yourself? Or should I already know you?"
Rosalie frowned in displeasure, but a hint of embarrassment flashed in her eyes, she had indeed expected him to know her. After all, most boys in school did.
"I'm Rosalie."
Silas nodded.
"Ohh."
Rosalie frowned but didn't bother with it.
"Do you now Emmett, big guy?" Rosalie asked.
She wanted to find out if the good brother crap was mutual.
Silas didn't answer immediately. What was her plan? Did she want to use this to show Emmett we weren't good brothers?
Hiss. How vicious. It's true what they say: The more beautiful the woman, the more vicious her heart.
Hmm. Should I play along? But I don't want her to be right.
Silas smirked.
"Emmett, of course I know him, he's my good brother."
"I would face the siege of a thousand arrows, and walk a thousand miles on burning embers for him."
Rosalie looked surprised, then sneered. These two… they sing the same symphony.
"Then if he is your good brother then what is his favorite food?"
Favorite food? Isn't that blood?
Silas shook his head and said.
"I don't know, but it doesn't matter."
Rosalie frowned.
"Then what about, favorite color?"
Silas shook his head.
"Favorite sport?"
This time Silas responded.
"Baseball."
Rosalie looked a little surprised.
"What about his girlfriend?"
Silas frowned, what was her plan?
"Ohh, I've heard a little about her, I can't remember her name, but Emmett said she was beautiful, kind, gentle, broad minded… indeed, only such a good woman is deserving of my good brother."
Rosalie was a little embarrassed.
Then Silas looked at her.
"Why are you asking me this? Are you trying to get information out of me? Don't think about it, my good brother would never betray his girlfriend and… someone like you isn't worthy of him."
"It's better to give up, there are more men out there, of course none as good as my good brother, but if they reach… 10-15 percent of him, then you've caught a steal."
Rosalie was fuming. What was this idiot talking about? Was she not Emmett's girlfriend… wife even.
Silas ignored her and turned to look out the window. He knew she was Emmett's girlfriend, wife, mate whatever you wanna call her. But he just wanted to mess with her.
The class started and during the class, Silas felt Rosalie shoot him angry glares.
Soon the teacher told them to discuss the question on the board in pairs.
Rosalie turned to him.
"Do you know who I am?"
Silas frowned, isn't she gonna let this go?
"No. But you will probably tell me."
Rosalie looked angry, she raised her chin slightly and said.
"I'm Emmett's girlfriend."
Silas sighed inwardly. But outwardly he let out a chuckle mixed with a sneer.
Rosalie heard this and frowned.
"What!?"
Silas turned his head slightly and looked at her out of the corner of his eye.
"Stop being delusional. He would never go for you."
Rosalie was distraught.
"Believe what you want."
Just then the teacher spoke out to gather their attention.
"So what answer have you arrived at?"
The students started to give their answers.
As Silas gave their answer, the class ended.
He stacked his books and stood up, then grabbed his books and walked out. Not once did he pay Rosalie's resentful glares any attention.
CHAPTER END.
