"Where are we going?" Arabella asked as she walked beside the king through the grand hallway, her soft footsteps echoing against the polished marble floors of the palace.
"You will see," Enzo replied smoothly.
A knowing smile tugged at his lips as he guided her toward his bedchambers. The guards standing outside immediately lowered their heads the moment they saw him approach.
Arabella felt small walking beside the king. The guards' stares made her uncomfortable, and she knew many of them considered her unworthy of him. Truthfully, she did not even want to stand beside him. The palace was filled with schemes and constant targeting. If only the king would grow bored of her and send her away or simply leave her alone, she thought.
Enzo turned slightly toward Lily, who had been following several steps behind them in silence.
"You are dismissed for the day. Arabella will be spending the day with me," Enzo said calmly.
