'He wants my help? Is this some kind of joke? What can Ivan Obolensky want my help with? Or does he suspect my identity and is trying to gauge me out?'
Whatever the case might be, Daniel was not going to fall for it. But he could not refuse Ivan's request without even hearing him out. That would just invite unwanted trouble.
So with a heavy sigh, Daniel decided to hear Ivan out.
"As my conditions say, I will not take any job related to the Den or the wrong side of the mafia. I do value my life a lot. Other than that, I am willing to take on most tasks… as long as you pay my prices."
Daniel waited for Ivan to say something to him, but Ivan seemed too busy looking at him with an amused expression on his face. Daniel coughed to get his attention back, and Ivan blinked before he broke that staring competition.
"Hmm, I understand. Luckily, my request this time has nothing to do with the Den or the wrong crowd. It's a simple protection request."
