"So, Connor, will you buy me a drink for a change?" I joked, fully expecting him to tell me to f*ck off.
"Alright."
I was shocked to hear the actual answer. "What? Really?"
"Yeah. But only one, though. I don't have much, but you always buy me drinks." He said this while swirling the liquid in his glass, his movements hesitant. He seemed nervous while saying this. He turned to look at me, giving me that half-assed smile I wanted to keep in my sights for a good while. "It's nothing compared to how many you've bought me, but you'll have to make do for now, haha!"
"Heh. That's... that's totally fine." I sat beside him, surprised by the pleasant sensation blooming in my chest. He's an odd one for sure, acting difficult to find only to make a comeback so easily.
"Ruben! Give Xavier whichever drink he wants to try tonight!" Connor called out, beckoning the bartender back.
"Oh, you'll invite him in the end?"
"Yeah, haha! What will you order, Xavier?"
