"Ah… It's Connor."
"Right. Nice to meet you. Sorry to keep you. Don't you worry, I'll make sure Xav gets home safe."
"Hey, I was talking to him. You're getting in the way, Alex."
"Really? He said he's going home though…"
"O-oh, it's fine, you guys should keep catching up. Don't worry about me." I told them, knowing that if my intuition was right, at least Xavier's night wouldn't go to waste. "Bye Xavier, see you some other time."
"…"
"It was nice to meet you, Alex."
"Same, have a nice ride."
"Thanks…" I gave Xavier a sorry smile as I crossed the street, since he seemed annoyed by how things wrapped up. I sighed at how no other time would come, probably… but at least if he wasn't happy going home without someone, if that friend's one of those special friends… I guess he'll be fine.
I managed to get to the bus stop right on time, feeling a bit bummed that we had to end the nicest chat we've ever had with a hurried bye like that.
