"What's wrong? Are you just going to drink tonight?"
"Why?"
"See those guys over there? They've been checking you out for a while now." Ruben gestured with a tilt of his chin, and I turned to look. They seemed to know their way around; I could see they had more than enough experience to make anyone's night memorable. What's more, one was short, around Connor's height to boot—exactly my style, with a handsome face and a slim build. But...
"They have good eyes, but I'm not interested… Also, bring me the one Connor always orders."
"Do you miss him that much?" Ruben smirked, taking back the glass.
"What? I don't miss him," I said, feeling a prickle of annoyance at the know-it-all tone he was using. "Don't make stuff up."
"Really? You want the drink he orders even though you aren't fond of it. If you don't miss him, then what? Want me to bring you snacks too?"
"Just make the damn thing."
