"The tone you use, Sir. It feels like you do think I'm stupid."
"My tone? Ha!" I was pissed off, utterly dumbfounded to hear this. I had things to set straight. "You've talked to me like this from the beginning and I haven't found fault with you. The tone I use is the same I use with everyone else. Aren't you being unfair?"
"Me? Unfair?" Her eyes widened, her pupils blooming with shock.
"Of course. If I were the kind of person to fire you just like that, you wouldn't be standing here to begin with. You didn't even know who the CEO was when we first met. Saying I am testing you now is unfair. If I wanted to do that, I would have done so long ago. I believe my actions are enough proof of what I truly value in my employees."
She went quiet. A heavy silence filled the space between us as she looked down at her shoes. "When you put it like that, Sir... I guess you're right."
Huh? She agreed just like that? I blinked, caught off guard by her sudden retreat.
