Chapter 6 - 6. When Friendship Turns Into Jealousy

Today was Aarav and Myra's engagement day.

Both of them had chosen a beautiful twinning outfit for the ceremony.

Myra was wearing a stunning blue and golden designer lehenga, paired with expensive jewelry, soft glamorous makeup, and her hair styled open elegantly. She looked confident and radiant.

Aarav had also matched her outfit by wearing a blue and golden sherwani, perfectly embracing the charm of traditional Indian culture.

Soon, Chahat arrived.

She was dressed in a simple green lehenga. Her look was very minimal — light makeup, simple styling — yet she looked naturally beautiful and graceful.

Chahat walked towards Aarav and Myra with a warm smile.

"Congratulations," she said softly.

"Thank you," Aarav and Myra replied together.

Aarav looked at Chahat for a moment and said honestly,

"Chahat, you look really beautiful today… even without heavy makeup. I must say, you are naturally very pretty."

Hearing this, Chahat lowered her eyes shyly and smiled.

But standing beside them, Myra felt a sudden sting of jealousy.

She glanced at Chahat and laughed mockingly.

"Seriously, Aarav? Look at her dress. It looks so old-fashioned… and cheap. She has no dressing sense. And that makeup… it looks like she got it done from some cheap beauty parlor."

She laughed loudly.

Aarav frowned slightly.

"Myra… these days I really don't understand you," he said.

Before the situation could become awkward, Chahat gently said,

"It's okay, Aarav. I'm not hurt. Myra didn't say anything wrong."

Soon all the guests had arrived, and the engagement ceremony began.

Myra picked up the ring to place it on Aarav's finger.

But just as she was about to slide it onto his finger, the ring slipped from her hand and rolled away… stopping near Chahat.

Chahat quickly bent down, picked up the ring, and walked towards Myra to return it.

But some guests around them began whispering strange things.

Those whispers made Myra feel even more insecure.

Without saying anything, Myra took the ring and completed the ceremony by placing it on Aarav's finger.

The function soon came to an end.

In the following days, Myra's behavior toward Chahat started changing.

She was no longer talking to her the way she used to.

Since there were many wedding functions coming up, shopping had to be done.

Aarav wanted Chahat to join them for shopping.

But Myra refused.

"For my happiness, please don't come," she told Chahat.

And Chahat quietly agreed.

Then came the Sangeet function.

Chahat had secretly prepared a special dance performance for Aarav and Myra.

She wanted to make Myra happy again.

During the performance, Chahat beautifully expressed their friendship through dance.

Slowly, Myra's anger began melting.

But suddenly—

Above the stage, there was a large chandelier hanging.

It started loosening.

Aarav noticed it first.

His eyes widened.

Without thinking, he ran toward the stage.

Just as the chandelier was about to fall on Chahat, Aarav quickly pushed her backward to save her.

They both lost balance and fell on the floor, with Aarav landing beside her.

Thankfully, both of them were safe.

For a brief moment, the scene looked almost unexpectedly intimate.

And that moment was enough to trigger Myra's anger.

She rushed forward, pulled Chahat toward her—

And slapped her hard.

"How shameless can you be?" Myra shouted.

"How dare you do this with your own best friend's fiancé?"

Her voice trembled with jealousy.

"You're jealous, aren't you? Because I got someone like Aarav — tall, handsome, rich — and you didn't!"

Aarav immediately turned toward Myra with anger.

"Myra! How can you think something so disgusting?" he said.

"Do you even realize how lucky you are to have a friend like Chahat?"

"Whenever you needed her, she stood beside you. She even lied to her own family for you. And this is how you treat her?"

He stepped forward.

"Chahat is my friend too. And I didn't like the way you behaved with her."

"Apologize to her… or I won't marry you."

Hearing this, Chahat became nervous.

"Please don't fight because of me," she said quickly.

"Myra, if there is any misunderstanding, we can talk about it calmly."

But Myra shook her head coldly.

"There is no misunderstanding."

She pointed at Chahat.

"And from now on, you will not attend any of my wedding functions."

Silence filled the room.

What more trouble will Myra's insecurity create for Chahat?
