Chapter 22 - New Spells - Secrets Of Conjuration - Chapter 22

Marcus spent some time in Dragon Bridge Town, a mead in his hand; he kept looking around and discovered.

Truth be told, he was really having fun. Experiencing all these new locations and looking at the daily lives of the people gave him a lot of fun.

It was like playing Skyrim but a more vivid and more realistic experience.

"Dragon Bridge Village or Town was not big in the game."

"It is not big here too, compared to Solitude and most likely other cities."

"I guess about five to ten thousand people live here, and that is it."

Marcus was not able to find any alchemy tables in the whole town, as it said that if they needed potions and other materials, they just ordered them from Solitude.

East Empire Trading Company was more than enough to provide them what they want in large quantities.

"It seems like I should be focusing on other locations."

"Now that I have free time in my mind and would like to spend a little bit more time here before leaving, I should look for spells." Marcus thought.

He knew that general traders usually have some novice spells in their hands. It is not like he wanted to find higher-level spellbooks and valuable books that would increase his understanding power.

At this stage, every piece of knowledge and spellbook would be useful to him.

Marcus looked around and then moved.

Luckily for him, there was a general store, almost ten to fifteen of them.

"It must be because they are pretty close to Solitude, so it is easier to sell their products here."

Marcus chose one of them and entered.

As it was morning time, all of them were open.

The man behind the counter saw Marcus enter and smiled.

"Hi."

"What are you looking for?" he asked.

Marcus thought for a moment and asked.

"Do you have any spellbooks here?"

The man thought for a moment.

"I have few, but you must look and understand if they are spellbooks."

"I am not very well versed in spellbooks, as I am not a mage myself..."

Marcus nodded, and the man put three books on the table.

"Hmm."

Marcus touched the books and smiled.

"Nothing impressive."

These three books, he can understand with one glance through his memory and understanding of the series.

It was sort of knowledge that was ingrained within him, the same as him being able to recall many things about the lore.

The books are "Candlelight," "Conjure – Familiar," and lastly, "Illusion Spell – Calm."

Marcus looked at the man and asked.

"How much do you want for these three spells?"

The man thought for a moment and remembered that almost no mages or people come to buy spellbooks.

Sometimes, they buy it and then try to give it back and take their septims back because they are not able to understand it.

"I will give all these three to you, ten septims each."

Marcus shook his head.

"These are spellbooks."

"But they are not that great and pretty common. You know easily, they are not worth ten septims each."

The man took a deep breath and then.

"Okay."

"I have a hard time selling those books, and they are a problem to me mostly."

"So, what about five septims per book?"

"Fifteen septims for three of them."

Marcus thought.

"Yeah," he said and then counted fifteen septims and placed it on the counter. The man's eyes shined, and he got the septims.

"Good."

"Thank you for buying from me," he said.

Marcus nodded and asked.

"Do you have a book catalogue?"

The man shook his head.

"I only have ten or fifteen books. I do not buy or order many books, as people in Skyrim are not the kind that read books."

Marcus nodded.

"Can I look at them?"

The man nodded.

"Of course."

He then picked up a small crate and then placed it on the counter.

"All of the books are here; you can buy them for five drachmas each."

Marcus looked at the books and found nothing interesting that would be useful to him, even for passing the time.

He then nodded at the man and left the general store.

As he left the general store, he saw some of the civilians talking with the guard.

There are more than a hundred of them.

"We should kill those bandits."

"We should do something!" said many of them.

Marcus nodded.

"So many people got the news about the caravan and bandits."

He did not care about these people and just went back to the tavern. He wanted to stay one more night and at least learn one more spell before leaving the Dragon Bridge.

It is always great to have more spells in his arsenal. Especially, these novice-level spells are fundamentals of all schools of magic.

Learning them would give him ideas and increase his general understanding of magic.

Which is valuable for him.

He entered the tavern and went to the side of Fadia and paid her one gold septim.

"I want to extend my stay one more day and the other five for the drinks and food."

Fadia smiled.

"If only more people like you were here in my tavern." She took the gold septim and then nodded.

Marcus went back to his room, closed his door, and then opened the "Conjure – Familiar" book.

Compared to Candlelight and Calm Spell, conjuring a spiritual wolf was more interesting.

He also wanted to experience and understand how conjuration worked.

He then started reading; the more he read, the more he smiled and nodded. For him, weirdly, it was not that hard to learn and understand the concept of it.

He believed learning a novice-level spell that is not Alteration, where he focused his intent and point after leveling up, would take him one week.

"Connection with the planes and paying "Magicka" to conjure spirits from the other planes..."

"Simple but also interesting," he said as he kept on reading.
