Chapter 27 - Swampway Inn - Journey - Chapter 27

After Marcus killed the last bandit, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment.

This was better than the first time. At least this time he did not vomit his heart out.

"Now."

He thought and then checked the pockets and belongings of the bandits. He found a total of ten septims in their bodies.

He looked at the horses and thought.

"I still have a long way to go..."

"I can sell the horses, but I do not want to handle them."

He thought and then took the saddles from the horses and broke the ropes that were tied to the trees and slapped their butts as the three horses ran to the wilderness.

After he got what he wanted, he looked one more time at the corpses of the bandits and nodded as he went back to his horse and started riding.

-

Five hours of riding later, he stopped and looked.

"I am getting close to the swamp."

"I should keep using the main road."

He said, and then before continuing to ride, he sat down on the ground to rest for a moment. As he was resting, he heard weird sounds around him and then looked to the right.

"Oh."

"Nirnroot..." he said and took one of them and placed it in his bag.

He is interested in the nirnroot, but it is not a big interest.

He remembers what happened to the last guy who was researching Nirnroots, and he did not want to be in the same state as him in the future.

After taking the Nirnroot, he sat down again and ate some beef as he rested. Ten minutes later, he continued to ride.

Inside of a small cave, ten Norsemen were sitting around the fire; one of them, the man that is older and looks pretty strong, shook his head.

"Those three idiots are not back..."

One of the younger Nord bandits said to the big man as he looked pretty anxious.

"Did something happen to them?"

The old and big nord shook his head.

"They may be dumb, but they lived their whole life in the forests; they should have no problem..."

As the ten-man group waited and sat down, forming a circle in the fire. They did not know that their friends were never coming back at all.

-

While Marcus kept on riding, he saw a big, tavern-like building.

"I do not remember a tavern existing on this road."

"It seems like I should stop assuming locations of the places that I know."

"In the end, distances between cities, size of the cities, and the number of people are all different."

"It is only natural that there are more inns and taverns."

As he got close, he noticed there are many carriages and people around the big building, and there are also kids and women too.

"They look like commoners."

He rode his horse, and as he got close, one of the young boys came to his side and started talking.

"Welcome to the Swampway Inn."

Marcus nodded and asked.

"I do not remember this inn?"

The young boy smiled and nodded.

"It was opened three weeks ago; we are mainly dealing with caravans and people travelling."

"Do you need food and drink? I can also tend your horse."

Marcus nodded and gave five drakes to the young man for the horse and went to look at the inn.

As he entered, the smell of great food and heat hit his face.

"Oh, it is comfy to be in," he said and then went to the counter.

The area was really big and crowded; it was also two stories. He believed upstairs only consisted of the rooms.

He made his way, and then one of the young women, a Redguard, spoke to him.

"Hi, mister, what can I get you?" she asked.

Marcus said.

"A mead and some hot stew would be great."

The redguard woman nodded and then said.

"It is five drakes."

Marcus nodded.

He noticed that it was a little bit more expensive, but he expected it. In the end, these places are not in cities, and them finding regulars is harder, and they should make more money compared to taverns in the cities.

Not to mention, he also saw fifteen to twenty guards around the inn, patrolling the general area and everything.

Those people need to be paid too.

After paying for the food and drink, he waited, and he heard some people talking about the incident of carriage and huge bandit attacks.

"It must be something rare for such a caravan to get attacked."

"They are pretty quick to hear the news also," Marcus thought.

The beef stew arrived with some bread and one mead. He stopped listening to others and focused on the food.
