Chapter 24 - Leveling Up - Necromancy Questions - Chapter 24

Marcus noticed that two people were coming at him.

Truthfully, he did not want to get involved with him, but he wanted to hear why they were coming to him.

He knew that Vigilants are not evil individuals generally, so there is no reason to be much cautious.

As he made a habit of it, his Oakflesh was active and his hands ready to cast "Flames" if something bad were to happen.

"Sorry to intrude on you at this time of hour," started. The woman is vigilant with some apologetic look in her eyes.

Marcus looked at her, and then she added.

"I am Nalia; this is my friend Aridas."

"We would like to talk to you because you are the only one who looks like you can speak to us."

Marcus smiled and asked.

"What makes you think like that?"

"Aridas," the man spoke.

His voice was rough but kind.

"You are the only one who wears robes similar to a mage, or at least a scholar."

Marcus nodded and then made a hand sign that they could pull out chairs and sat.

The two Vigilants of Stendarr then took some chairs and ordered mead and some other snacks to the table.

"My friend and I are both Vigilant Of Stendarr."

"I wonder what you do?" Nalia smiled.

Marcus answered simply.

"I am a wandering alchemist, not a master but great enough to make a living from it."

"Oh." Nalia nodded as she looked at Aridas.

"It is rare to encounter an alchemist. I would say even more than mages."

Marcus nodded.

Aridas, this time added.

"Truthfully, we are looking for a group called Mystic Necromancy Coven."

"You heard about them?"

Marcus shook his head and said.

Necromancy and coven-like organizations do not interest me in the slightest. I would prefer to not know about them."

Aridas nodded.

"You are not wrong. Necromancers are a dangerous kind of mage."

At that time, Fadia arrived with meads and snacks, placed them on the table, and Aridas paid one septim for everything.

Fadia looked one more time at the table and one more second at Marcus and then left.

"You know, we heard two or three of them left the coven for the time being and are working with the bandits."

"The reason we are here is mainly because of finding those two or three necromancers," she said as she drank from the mead.

Aridas continued.

"Necromancers alone are already dangerous people; when they form groups, it's even worse. Work with bandits that have no moral codes or anything, and they become much more dangerous."

Marcus nodded.

"While they form the mind, the bandits create the muscle for them."

Aridas nodded.

"Precisely."

"As you can imagine as an alchemist, finding ingredients is sometimes hard."

Marcus nodded.

The atmosphere turned cold for a moment as Nalia spoke.

"For necromancers, ingredients mean corpses and parts of Men or Mer bodies."

Marcus nodded again and kept his silence. It is better to not speak much.

Knowledge is an important value in this world. Showing that he has much and is capable of forming complex ideas may not be the best idea.

He does not want to get involved in the matters of Necromancers, Dark Magic Organizations, and Cults, not to mention Vigilant of Stendarr matters, as they mainly deal with Daedra Worshippers and Daedra themselves.

"As I said, I don't know anything about those types of people."

"I just live my life in silence and peace; that is all."

Nalia and Aridas looked at each other and then nodded.

They spent twenty more minutes talking about towns and other simpler things and then left the table without adding much to it.

They understood that Marcus was kind and did not mind them, but it did not mean that he was interested in adding anything to their purpose or wanted them around much more.

It is more than likely that he just accepted them into his table due to reasons of not getting suspected or having problems with them.

They understood these points and believed. There is no more reason to force an alchemist or an individual like Marcus to keep talking.

They did not want to be known as bullies to civilians and people.

After Marcus left alone, he kept on drinking and ate some more food before leaving to go to his room to rest.

The times passed quickly in Dragon Bridge Town; other than going around picking up some common flowers that he could use to make potions, he spent his time in the tavern.

Eating, drinking, and reading more about Conjure – Familiar.

He did not want to multitask his research for the time being.

Only after he is capable of casting Conjure Familiar. He will learn "Candlelight", which would be easier for him due to his understanding of Alteration, and also learn the spell "Calm" from the Illusion School.

One week later, Marcus opened his eyes in the morning and said to himself.

"It seems like all the research I have done and theories paid off."

"I firmly believe that I should be able to cast Conjure – Familiar with not much of a problem..."

"I also feel that I leveled up some kind of way."

As Marcus thought, he focused within his soul and mind, and then a numeric value of Magicka manifested within his mind.

"170"

"That should be it," he commented, and then he again focused on the schools of magic to put the perk point on one of them.

Perk Points did not work like how they worked in the game; it just was "will to increase understanding."

When he decides on one of the perk points, his understanding and capability of the study of the perk school he chooses increase and nothing more.

Due to his understanding and capability increases, it also costs less magicka and less power to achieve the same effects or achieve higher-level effects.
