At the police station, Mark found out that Nathan had been arrested. He went to the holding cell to check then demanded his release when he noticed it was true.
"What happened?" Mark asked and Nathan gently shook his head.
Meanwhile, in the sewers, Nathan and Peter continued to find a way out. As they searched they heard the thudding footsteps of the towering monster.
They quickly made their way back and joined the other. The master of the monster went around shining a flashlight into people's faces.
He did the same to Peter then to Nathan.
"Him, bring him," the man commanded. The monster grabbed Nathan and threw him over his shoulder.
The creature's skin felt like fine-grit sandpaper. It had no warmth with skin as thin as paper. It smelled like clay and made little groans as it walked.
They walked into a room. In the middle was a shrine where a picture of a woman sat. A couple of candles were lit near an open book.
On another table was a basin of water. The monster forced Nathan to his knees.
"Listen, I don't know why you are doing this but you need to let everyone go," Nathan pleaded with him.
The man ignored him as he chanted something.
"You can't kidnap all these people and go unnoticed. Their families will come looking," Nathan warned.
"Let them come," the man said, and dipped his fingers into the basin of water. He placed each set of fingers on one side of Nathan's temple.
"I don't mean to torture you but this is going to hurt," the man forced his fingers into Nathan's head.
Nathan screamed in pain and the man's pupils turned white.
"Explain to me how you ended up in a holding cell? You were supposed to be following us," Mark suggested.
"It was just a misunderstanding," the man said and the Nathan at the precinct parroted his words.
"They ran my ID and could not find my details," the man in the sewer said, and the Nathan at the station once again parroted his words.
"Oh, it's my fault. I should have told you, it takes a day for IDs to be integrated into all governmental databases," Mark explained as they walked out of the police station.
The man pulled his fingers out of Nathan's head. He immediately fell to the ground and the screaming stopped.
"Is he dead?" the man asked the the monster groaned and shook its head.
"Take him back," the man did, and the monster did as he was told.
