( Jay's pov )
Dinner was unusually quiet that night.
The soft clinking of cutlery against plates echoed around the table, but something about the atmosphere felt… different.
I looked up from my food when my father cleared his throat.
"Jay," he said gently.
I paused. "Yeah?"
My mother and father exchanged a glance before looking back at me.
My stomach tightened slightly.
Whenever my parents looked at each other like that, it meant something important was coming.
My father leaned forward slightly. "We've been thinking a lot about your future."
I frowned a little. "My future?"
My mother smiled softly. "You've worked so hard with your architecture studies. We're really proud of you."
My mother smiled softly. "You've worked so hard with your architecture studies. We're really proud of you."
A small warmth spread in my chest, but confusion quickly followed.
"Okay…?"
My father continued, his voice calm but serious.
"We think you deserve the best opportunities. Opportunities that will help you grow… both as an architect and as a person."
My fingers tightened slightly around my fork.
Something about his words made my heart start beating faster.
"We've decided," he said slowly, "to send you abroad to continue your studies."
For a moment, I thought I heard him wrong
"…Abroad?"
My mother nodded gently.
"Yes, sweetheart. There's an excellent architecture program there. It will open so many doors for you."
" You can choose any country you like , Canada , Australia or Norway "
The room suddenly felt very quiet.
My mind raced.
Abroad.
different country. A new university. A new life.
A fresh start.
Part of me felt nervous.
But another part of me…
felt something else.
Freedom.
"We believe in you, Jay," he said softly. "And we want you to chase your dreams as far as they can take you."
I looked down at my hands for a moment, my thoughts spinning.
Maybe this was exactly what I needed.
A new place.
A new chapter.
A chance to build something beautiful… not just with buildings.
(NEXT DAY )
( Keifer's Pov )
I wasn't supposed to hear it.
I was just walking past the courtyard after class, my mind somewhere else completely.
Then I heard her voice.
Jay.
My steps slowed instantly
She was sitting under the big tree near the campus benches. Noah sat across from her, leaning forward slightly while she spoke.
I shouldn't have stopped.
But my feet refused to move.
"…my parents told me yesterday," Jay was saying quietly.
Noah looked surprised. "Wait—seriously?"
She nodded.
"They want me to continue my architecture studies… abroad."
For a second, I thought I imagined it.
Abroad?
That didn't just mean distance.
That meant oceans.
Time zones.
Years.
Noah looked at her carefully. "Are you going to go?"
Jay looked down at her hands for a moment.
Then she nodded slowly.
"Yes."
One word.
One simple word that felt like a knife twisting in my chest.
Because suddenly everything became real.
The distance between us.
The fights.
The way she looked at me like I was nothing.
And now…
She was leaving.
Leaving this city.
Leaving this life.
Leaving me.
Noah smiled softly. "You should go. Opportunities like that don't come often."
Jay gave a small nod. "I think… it's the right thing to do."
My throat tightened.
Of course it was the right thing.
She deserved a fresh start.
She deserved peace.
And I was the reason she needed one.
I slowly stepped back, my chest aching in a way I didn't think was possible.
Because for the first time since everything fell apart, a terrifying thought crossed my mind.
Maybe this time…
I wasn't just losing her.
Maybe I was losing her forever.
Hey loves 🩷💐
I hope you like my book and I just wanted to ask you guys something
Where do you want jay to go for further studies?
From the above countries
Canada , Australia or Norway?
I know Norway was unexpected 😭🥲. But I added it because it is my favorite country and I felt like it would be more peaceful for jay to stay
But seriously pick what you guys want ✨️🤍, I am ok with all of them
I can't add London and New York- because she lives in London and her hometown is new York
Also how many years should she stay abroad ?
So comment the country you like from above 3 and I'll pick the one with most.
