Jay's POV
The cold air hit my face the moment I stepped out of the airport.
I pulled my coat tighter around me, my breath turning into soft white clouds in front of me. Everything looked different here. The buildings were quieter, the streets calmer, and the sky stretched endlessly above the city.
For a moment, I just stood there with my suitcase beside me.
A new country.
A new university.
A new life.
It felt strange… but also peaceful.
The taxi drove past rows of clean streets and tall buildings until the university finally came into view. The architecture instantly caught my attention.
Glass walls. Clean lines. Modern structures mixed with older stone buildings.
My heart fluttered.
This… this is where I'm going to study.
As I walked across the campus, students passed by speaking different languages, laughing, carrying sketchbooks and design models.
For the first time in a long time, my mind wasn't full of heavy memories
It was full of ideas.
Buildings I wanted to design.
Spaces I wanted to create.
Dreams I wanted to chase.
I stopped near the edge of the campus where a beautiful view of the snowy city stretched below.
My phone buzzed in my pocket.
For a second, my heart skipped.
Old habits.
Old expectations.
But when I looked at the screen, it was just a welcome message from the university.
I slipped the phone back into my coat.
Maybe the past would always be part of me.
But standing there in the cold Norwegian air, watching the snow fall gently over the city, I realized something quietly.
This chapter of my life wasn't about heartbreak anymore.
It was about building something new.
Just like the buildings I dreamed of designing.
And this time…
I was building myself.
( First day of university)
The cold Oslo air brushed my cheeks as I walked toward the gates of Oslo International Academy.
This was it. My first day.
My room had been unpacked hours ago, and the space already felt like a little home.
But now, stepping onto the campus, everything felt big, new, and just a little intimidating.
Students walked past me, carrying sketchbooks, laptops, and backpacks. They spoke in different languages—Norwegian, English, and others I couldn't quite place. The modern glass-and-stone buildings reflected the pale Scandinavian sunlight, making the campus feel alive and full of possibility.
I adjusted my bag over my shoulder and took a deep breath. This is it, Jay. A new chapter.
My first class was in the Design Hall, a spacious building with floor-to-ceiling windows. Students were sketching, measuring, and discussing projects animatedly. The energy was inspiring
I found an empty seat near the back and opened my notebook, letting my eyes wander. For a moment, I just watched the others, trying to feel the rhythm of this new place.
A friendly voice broke my thoughts. "Hi, are you new here?"
I looked up to see a girl around my age with a bright smile, holding a set of colored pencils.
"Yes," I replied " Jasper Jean Mariano, you can call me jayjay"
" I'm Hannah," she said, extending her hand. "You're in architecture too, right?"
I nodded. "Yes. First year."
Her smile widened. "Welcome! Don't worry, it's a lot at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Want to sit together?"
I hesitated, then smiled. "Sure."
As I slid my notebook closer to hers, I realized something. For the first time in a long time, I wasn't thinking about anyone from back home.
I wasn't thinking about heartbreak. Or regret.
I was just thinking about my future, my studies, and the life I was building here in Oslo.
And that thought made my chest feel light, almost weightless.
Maybe moving so far away… was exactly what I needed.
