Chapter 9 - A Quick History Lesson (Chapter 9)

"Are you able to tell me more about this world? About the Demon Lord Empire?"

Christian asked as they all continued to eat breakfast by the campfire. He knew the Archangels were very close to the Creator God and carried out his will. From that fact, he concluded they knew at least the basic knowledge of the countries around them and their rulers. It would be good information for him to know as well.

Castiel decided to take over speaking. He spoke in a measured tone and pace. "This world is made up of many different kinds of species, cultures, and philosophies. While the Creator God and other deities let people have free will to do what they desire, he still sends angels to accomplish certain missions. We are the Archangels in charge of overseeing them and carrying out his most important duties."

Christian nodded. Castiel continued speaking.

"In regards to the Demon Lord Empire, it is fairly peaceful these days. The Demon Lord used to be more violent and territorial. However, ever since his defeat at the hands of the Dragon Army, he had to retreat and relinquish some of his hold over his country," Castiel said as he took a sip of water.

"You may be asking, what is the Dragon Army? Well, it is a group of dragons and their keepers that allied together to take a stand against the Demon Lord for being too demanding on them. They had a civil war with the Demon Lord's troops and won. The dragons are a very powerful bunch. They do not have a country of their own, but they do have a place within the Demon Lord Empire that they have full control over called: The Dragon's Domain," Castiel told them as they all listened intently.

"Are the dragons friendly?" Christian asked. This was an important question.

Seraphina chimed in. "Yes! They are friendly as long as they think you do not pose a threat to them or mean them or their people harm. There are not many dragons left because of infighting, but one dragon could take down a human army for reference. The most powerful dragons could probably take down nations if they really wanted to."

That sent shivers down Christian's and Rhea's spines. Christian decided to pivot topics.

"Hey Rhea," he said while turning to face her. "If you are the second princess, that means I assume the first princess is your older sister? Is she next in line for the throne?"

"She is my older sister, yes. Her name is Bella. She is next in line for the throne since our father does not have any sons. Since all the attention is placed on Bella, hardly any of it is placed on me. I do not seek the throne either. Politics can be a massive headache, and plus it will be many centuries most likely before the King and Vampire Progenitor, our father, dies," Rhea said as she patted Darya's head. Her tail wagged back and forth.

"That makes sense," Christian said as he tossed a frisbee that was lying near him for Flaro. "So the Vampire King doesn't mind you exploring around and doing what you want at all? No one will come after you here?"

Rhea nodded. "Most likely they won't send anybody as long as I write back that I am alive or show up every now and then. I assure you truly that you are safe. I am quite capable on my own if I can know what is going on ahead of time. Though your Elemental Archon Wolves can give anybody a hard time."

Christian raised an eyebrow. "Elemental Archon Wolves?"

Seraphina decided to be the one to explain. "Yes. Elemental Archon Wolves are the kind of wolves that Darya, Flaro, and the other pups are named after. These wolves are extremely rare. There are only six of them in the world. Each wolf rules over an entire element and wields mastery over it to an extreme level of control. The elements being: earth, wind, water, and fire. Flaro represents fire while Darya represents water. Though I had no idea they would mate with each other, but it is possible as you can see. Those pups are going to grow into some very strong magic wolves."

Christian took a moment to process it all. He had no idea the wolves he saved were so powerful and rare. Not to mention they decided to stay with him at his campsite and essentially name him their master.

The power of the Gods. He told himself that was the answer. If my wolves are so powerful and they got very injured, that means something out there is even more powerful.

Christian decided to speak his mind on these thoughts. "Hey Seraphina and Castiel, I found these wolves very injured when I first met them and then I took care of them. Does that mean something even more powerful lies out there?"

They both nodded back to him. Castiel had a grave expression on his face. "That is one of the reasons why we are here. These wolves of yours can take on the majority of the monsters in this forest. However, some monsters we may not know even about can be a lot more powerful. It is wise that we are here even if you have your blessings. There are forces and curses you do not know about yet completely."

I regret asking. Christian gulped. "Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad you guys are here as well."

"We are glad as well! Castiel and I are so used to more serious and fast-paced missions that we enjoy being able to live a little more here. Also, don't mind if Castiel comes off a bit mean or cold, that is just how he is. Just know if you are in need of physical protection, call out to him first before me. He is much, much stronger when it comes to physical combat."

"Good to know!" Christian replied back as he stood up from the log as they all started cleaning up things from breakfast. "Do you have any recommendations on how to strengthen our campsite more and anything else we should build before any trouble may come?"

Both Archangels nodded. Seraphina smiled and gestured toward Christian. "Follow us!"
