Chapter 38 - Reno Leaves Whitebeard at a Loss for Words

[Aboard Whitebeard's Ship]

Whitebeard pondered deeply upon hearing Reno's words. After a long pause, he finally raised his head and asked, "What will be the biggest change in the sea in the next few years?"

Roger had indeed shared his plan with Whitebeard, but without specifying the timeline. Hence, Whitebeard asked such a question. He reasoned that Roger wouldn't share such a plan with a mere child, so he had to verify Reno's claims carefully.

Hearing the inquiry, Reno thought to himself, As expected, Roger must have discussed his plan with Whitebeard!

Reno answered directly, "The biggest change? That would be Uncle Roger's last words before his death. They will ignite chaos across the seas and usher in the Great Pirate Era!"

Whitebeard's eyes widened in shock. Internally, he was stunned. Roger is still contemplating how to carry out this plan, yet this boy not only knows about it but also knows how it will unfold. It seems this kid really can glimpse into the future.

Roger had indeed confided in Whitebeard about his vision to trigger the Great Pirate Era but hadn't yet figured out the specifics. Reno, however, had just outlined the result. Whitebeard could no longer dismiss Reno's claims.

"Can you describe the scene you saw?" Whitebeard asked, still processing the revelation.

Reno closed his eyes dramatically, pretending to concentrate before speaking slowly. "It's a tall iron platform. Uncle Roger is seated atop it, flanked by two men wielding long blades. Marines surround the area, and beneath the platform, a massive crowd gathers—countless people…"

At this point, Reno stopped, confident Whitebeard could deduce how Roger would carry out his plan.

Reno then opened his eyes and added, "That's all I saw. And you must promise not to reveal my ability to anyone else!"

Whitebeard, now more composed, nodded. "Don't worry, kid. I understand the gravity of the situation. There are others in the world with abilities akin to foresight. But rest assured, I won't speak of this if you wish to keep it private."

Satisfied with Whitebeard's promise, Reno pushed forward, "Alright then, what about Kozuki Oden? What do you want to know?"

Whitebeard's expression turned grave. "Oden's strength is already among the world's elite. What kind of person could possibly kill him?"

Reno smirked inwardly. Finally, Whitebeard was taking him seriously. He replied, "Kozuki Oden doesn't get killed—he's driven to his death. He's manipulated and deceived without even realizing it. Frankly, that big oaf is clueless!"

Reno proceeded to "half-truth" his way through the explanation, mixing genuine details with creative embellishments. His words left Whitebeard bewildered yet convinced.

But Reno wasn't entirely wrong. Oden's demise was indeed the result of schemes and manipulation, not a straightforward defeat.

Whitebeard reflected on Oden's straightforward and unguarded personality. If someone were to plot against him, Reno's scenario seemed entirely plausible.

Finally, Whitebeard looked at Reno and said, "If you foresee anything else of significance, come directly to me. It's getting late. We'll set sail for Wano tomorrow."

Reno, elated that Whitebeard had agreed, immediately replied, "If that's all, I'll be off now!"

Watching Reno leave with a spring in his step, Whitebeard mused, This kid may have a sharp tongue, but he means well. Still, his mouth could use some work.

Had Reno heard Whitebeard's thoughts, he would've shouted indignantly, I'm only doing this for Hiyori's sake! What happens to Oden is none of my business!

Whitebeard remained quiet for a moment before dismissing Reno. "You can go now. On your way out, tell Marco to come in."

"Got it!" Reno responded cheerfully.

Floating leisurely, Reno exited the room and made his way to the deck.

When Reno reached the deck, he spotted Marco sitting cross-legged in the middle, explaining things to the crew while keeping them away from the cabins.

The crew, having been ejected earlier, was now congregated on the deck. Most were still groggy, trying to understand what had happened.

Seeing the bewildered crowd, Reno floated up behind Marco, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, "Pineapple-head, Whitebeard wants to see you. He's waiting inside."

Hearing the nickname "pineapple-head," Marco's face darkened with frustration. He clenched his teeth and shouted, "You little brat! How many times have I told you not to call me that? Do you want me to teach you a lesson?"

Unfazed, Reno teased, "You'd have to catch me first, Pineapple-head! But the problem is, can you?"

In recent days, Reno had made it his mission to provoke Marco, often leaving the latter seething. While Marco had initially given chase, Reno's increased speed rendered such pursuits futile.

With no other recourse, Marco resorted to verbal sparring, which often ended in Reno claiming victory.

The rest of the crew, meanwhile, had taken to enjoying the daily spectacle. Snacks in hand, they treated the antics as prime entertainment.

"You little punk!" Marco growled. "Just wait! Once I figure out how to catch you, I'll make sure you regret ever crossing me!"

Chuckling, Reno called after him, "Pineapple-head, you're such a weirdo. Always thinking about spanking me! Keep dreaming it's never going to happen!"

"HAHAHAHA!"

The crew erupted in laughter, their previous confusion forgotten as they doubled over at Reno's cheeky remarks.

Marco quickened his pace, determined to leave the scene, as if fleeing some monstrous embarrassment.

The crew continued to revel in the exchange, their laughter echoing across the deck.
