Chapter 32 - The Day Mira Sees His Face

Mira barely slept after waking up that morning.

The sentence from the dream kept echoing in her mind again and again.

"You're not the only one dreaming."

She had tried convincing herself it was just another strange dream line.

But somehow it felt different.

Too specific.

Too serious.

Mira sat on the edge of her bed and stared at the floor.

"If two people can share a dream…"

She stopped herself immediately.

"No."

"That's impossible."

Dreams came from the brain.

Science explained that clearly.

People didn't connect their dreams like phone calls.

And yet…

The rooftop conversations felt too real to ignore.

The morning passed slowly.

She got ready for work, drank her tea, and left the house like usual.

But today her mind felt unusually alert.

Every little detail around her seemed sharper.

The sounds of traffic.

The movement of people.

The sunlight reflecting off buildings.

Everything felt strangely vivid.

On the bus ride to the office, Mira leaned against the window again.

Her headphones were in, but she wasn't really listening to the music.

Her thoughts were still stuck on the rooftop.

"Maybe this isn't the only place we can meet."

The sentence replayed in her mind.

"What does that even mean?" she whispered.

At the office, Mira tried focusing on work again.

But today she felt restless.

After finishing a few tasks, she checked the time.

Lunch break was approaching.

She grabbed her phone and headed toward the café she usually visited.

The café was a little busier than usual.

People were standing in line for coffee.

Mira ordered her tea and waited near the counter.

Her eyes wandered around the room casually.

Then suddenly…

She froze.

Her heart skipped a beat.

At a table near the window…

Someone was sitting with their back partially turned.

Tall.

Calm posture.

Dark hair.

Something about the figure felt strangely familiar.

Mira frowned slightly.

"Why does that look familiar?" she murmured.

The person turned slightly to reach for their cup.

And Mira's breath stopped.

For a moment, the entire café felt silent.

Because she had just seen his face.

Her brain refused to process it immediately.

Her heart started beating faster.

"That's… not possible," she whispered.

The face she had just seen looked exactly like the one from the rooftop.

The same calm expression.

The same thoughtful eyes.

The same quiet presence.

Mira quickly looked down at her tea cup.

Her hands were slightly shaking now.

"This is coincidence," she told herself.

"There are millions of people in the world."

"Someone could just look similar."

But deep down she knew something.

This didn't feel like similarity.

It felt like recognition.

Her curiosity slowly won over her fear.

Mira carefully looked up again.

The man was now looking at something on his phone.

Completely unaware of her.

Or at least… that's what she thought.

Then suddenly…

He looked up.

Directly toward her.

For a brief second, their eyes met.

And Mira felt something strange.

Something familiar.

Almost like the same quiet moment they shared on the rooftop.

Her heart started racing.

Because the look in his eyes felt exactly the same.

Calm.

Curious.

Almost like he recognized something too.

But the moment ended quickly.

A friend at his table said something and he turned his attention back to the conversation.

Mira sat completely still.

Her mind was spinning with questions.

"That can't be him," she whispered.

"It's impossible."

The rooftop was a dream.

Dream characters didn't walk into cafés in real life.

And yet…

The resemblance was too perfect.

Mira picked up her tea but barely drank it.

Her eyes kept drifting back to the table near the window.

The more she watched him, the stronger the strange feeling became.

Something about his presence felt… familiar.

After a few minutes, the group at the table started standing up.

They were preparing to leave.

Mira's heart began beating faster again.

For a moment, she considered walking up to him.

Just to confirm.

But what would she even say?

"Excuse me, do you appear in my dreams every night?"

She almost laughed at the thought.

The group walked toward the café exit.

Just before leaving, the man paused for a brief moment.

He glanced around the café once more.

And his eyes stopped on Mira again.

For a second…

Something strange passed across his expression.

Not surprise.

Not confusion.

Something else.

Something almost like recognition.

Then he turned and walked out of the café.

Just like that.

Mira sat frozen in her chair.

Her heart was still racing.

Her mind was trying to make sense of everything.

Finally she whispered quietly to herself,

"Did he recognize me too?"

Outside the café window, the city moved normally.

People walked past.

Cars drove by.

Life continued like nothing strange had happened.

But Mira knew something.

If the person she saw was really connected to the rooftop…

Then the dreams weren't just dreams anymore.

They were the beginning of something much bigger.

And much more mysterious.
