Chapter 36 - The Conversations Mira Doesn't Remember

Mira sat frozen in her chair.

The café suddenly felt quieter than before.

"Chapter 12 of our rooftop conversations."

His words kept echoing in her mind.

But the more she tried to think about it…

The more confused she became.

"I never told you my name," Mira said slowly.

He tilted his head slightly.

"You did."

"When?"

"About two weeks ago."

Mira frowned.

"That's impossible."

"Why?"

"Because we've only had a few conversations there."

He shook his head gently.

"No."

Her heart skipped.

"We've had many."

Mira stared at him.

"How many?"

He leaned back slightly, thinking.

"Maybe… twenty?"

Her mouth opened in shock.

"Twenty?!"

She lowered her voice again when someone nearby glanced over.

"That's impossible."

"Why?"

"Because I remember only a few."

He studied her face carefully.

"You remember the first time you appeared."

"Yes."

"And the night it rained."

"Yes."

"And the night we talked about music."

Mira nodded.

"Right."

He folded his arms.

"That's only three."

Her stomach dropped.

Three?

That couldn't be right.

She had been dreaming about the rooftop almost every night.

But now that she tried to recall the details…

Everything felt blurry.

"What do you mean only three?" she asked nervously.

"You've been there almost every night."

Mira felt a strange chill.

"No… I haven't."

"Yes, you have."

She shook her head slowly.

"If that were true, I would remember."

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked thoughtful.

Then he said something quietly.

"What if you just don't remember when you wake up?"

Mira froze.

The idea hit her like cold water.

Because it explained something she had never questioned before.

Sometimes she woke up feeling like the dream had been longer.

But the details disappeared quickly.

"You're saying…" she whispered,

"…I forget most of the dreams?"

He nodded.

"Exactly."

Mira leaned back in her chair.

Her mind was racing again.

"That's not normal."

"Dreams aren't always easy to remember."

"But you remember everything."

"Yes."

She looked at him suspiciously.

"How?"

He shrugged slightly.

"I don't know."

Mira crossed her arms.

"This is getting creepier."

He smiled faintly.

"A little."

Silence fell between them for a moment.

Then Mira asked the question that had been forming in her mind.

"If we talked so many times…"

"…what else did I say?"

He looked at her with a small amused smile.

"You talked a lot."

"About what?"

"Your childhood."

"My childhood?"

"Yes."

Mira's eyes widened.

"What did I say?"

"You told me you used to dance in your room when no one was watching."

Mira nearly choked on her tea.

"How do you know that?!"

He raised an eyebrow.

"You told me."

Her face turned slightly red.

"That was private."

"You didn't seem to think so at the time."

Mira covered her face with her hands for a moment.

"Oh my god."

Then she quickly looked up again.

"What else?"

He thought for a moment.

"You also said you don't understand why people get emotionally attached to celebrities."

Mira blinked.

That sounded exactly like something she would say.

Because it was true.

She had always thought those feelings were unrealistic.

But hearing someone repeat her own thoughts back to her…

Felt strange.

"You told me that on the rooftop?" she asked.

"Yes."

"And I just forgot?"

"Yes."

Mira rubbed her temples again.

"This is unbelievable."

Then he leaned forward slightly.

"But there's something even stranger."

Her heart tightened.

"What?"

He looked directly into her eyes.

"You told me something about the rooftop."

Mira frowned.

"What about it?"

He spoke slowly.

"On one of the nights…"

"…you said the rooftop felt familiar."

Mira's stomach dropped.

"I said that?"

"Yes."

Her mind tried to search for the memory.

But nothing appeared.

Just empty space.

"What did I mean by that?" she asked.

He shook his head.

"That's the strange part."

"You said you didn't know."

Mira felt uneasy now.

"Why would the rooftop feel familiar?"

He looked toward the cafe window for a moment.

Then back at her.

"Because you said…"

"…it felt like you had been there before."

Mira's heart started beating faster again.

"That's impossible."

"Is it?"

She looked confused.

"I've never seen that rooftop in real life."

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he studied her expression.

Then he asked a quiet question.

"One thing I've been wondering."

"What?"

He leaned slightly closer.

His voice softer now.

"Are you sure that rooftop only exists in dreams?"

Mira's breath caught.

Because suddenly…

She wasn't sure anymore.
