Chapter 37 - The Rooftop That Shouldn't Exist

Mira couldn't stop thinking about what he had just said.

"Are you sure that rooftop only exists in dreams?"

The question stayed in her mind long after the café conversation ended.

She had laughed it off at the time.

But now, sitting alone in her room that night, it didn't feel funny anymore.

It felt unsettling.

Her room was quiet.

Outside, the distant sound of traffic from the street drifted through the window.

Mira sat on her bed with her laptop open, staring at a blank search page.

Her fingers hovered over the keyboard.

She knew what she was about to do was ridiculous.

Still…

She typed slowly.

"rooftop café Pune night view."

Dozens of images appeared.

Tall buildings.

Restaurants.

Terraces filled with lights and people.

But none of them looked like the rooftop from the dream.

Mira sighed and leaned back.

"Of course not," she muttered to herself.

It had been a dream.

A place her mind had created.

That's what dreams did.

They mixed memories and imagination together.

There was no way a place like that actually existed.

Still…

Something about the rooftop felt too clear to be imaginary.

The wooden floor.

The small round tables.

The quiet atmosphere.

And the view of the city lights stretching far into the distance.

It had never looked like a random dream location.

It felt real.

Mira closed the laptop and rubbed her eyes.

"I'm overthinking again," she whispered.

That was one of her worst habits.

Thinking too much about things that didn't need thinking.

She stood up and walked to the window.

The night sky was dark, with only a few stars visible above the city lights.

Her reflection stared back at her in the glass.

"Get some sleep," she told herself.

Maybe she would see the rooftop again tonight.

Maybe everything would start making sense.

But that night…

The rooftop didn't appear.

Instead, Mira woke up suddenly at 3:17 AM.

Her heart was racing.

Her room was completely silent.

For a moment she didn't know why she had woken up.

Then she realized something strange.

She had dreamed something.

Something important.

But just like before…

The memory was already fading.

Mira sat up quickly.

"No, no, no…"

She grabbed her phone and opened her notes app.

Whenever she had interesting dreams, she sometimes wrote them down.

Maybe that would help.

She closed her eyes and tried to remember.

Fragments appeared in her mind.

A staircase.

Metal railings.

A door at the top.

And the rooftop.

Her fingers started typing quickly.

"Stairs… metal railing… door… rooftop… city lights…"

She stopped.

Something else appeared in her mind.

A sign.

Mira's eyes snapped open.

"A sign?"

Her heart began beating faster.

She could suddenly see it clearly.

A small sign next to the door on the rooftop.

Something written on it.

But the words were blurry.

She closed her eyes again and focused harder.

"Come on… what did it say?"

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then suddenly—

The words appeared.

Clear.

Sharp.

Mira's eyes opened wide.

Her fingers slowly typed the words into her phone.

"Skyline Residency – Terrace Access."

The room felt colder suddenly.

Because those words sounded like a real place.

A real building.

Mira quickly opened her laptop again.

Her hands were shaking slightly now.

She typed into the search bar.

"Skyline Residency Pune."

The results appeared instantly.

An apartment building.

Located only 15 minutes away from her office.

Mira stared at the screen in disbelief.

"That's impossible…"

She clicked on the images.

The photos showed a tall modern building.

Glass balconies.

A parking area.

A lobby entrance.

Then she found one photo that made her heart stop.

A photo taken from the top floor terrace.

Mira slowly leaned closer to the screen.

Her breath became shallow.

Because the photo looked…

Exactly the same.

The wooden floor.

The metal railing.

The open view of the city lights.

Even the small round tables.

Everything matched the rooftop from her dreams.

Mira whispered the words slowly.

"It's real."

Her phone suddenly buzzed on the table.

She jumped slightly.

A message.

From him.

She opened it.

The message was short.

Just one line.

"I think I found the rooftop."

Mira stared at the message.

Her heart began racing again.

Because she had just discovered the same thing.

At the exact same moment.

She typed quickly.

"Skyline Residency?"

Three dots appeared instantly.

He was typing.

Then his reply came.

"Yes."

Mira felt a chill run down her spine.

Because now there was no doubt anymore.

The rooftop from their dreams…

Was a real place.

Her phone buzzed again.

Another message.

"We should go there."

Mira stared at the screen for a long moment.

Part of her felt excited.

Part of her felt nervous.

Because something about this situation felt bigger than a coincidence.

Finally she typed back.

"Tomorrow?"

His reply came almost immediately.

"Tomorrow night."

Mira looked out of her window again.

The city lights stretched endlessly across the darkness.

Somewhere out there…

Was the rooftop that had existed in their dreams.

Long before they even knew each other.

And tomorrow…

They were going to stand there.

In real life.

But Mira had a strange feeling in her chest.

A quiet warning she couldn't explain.

Because something about that rooftop…

Felt like it was waiting for them.
