Fairy Tail: The Journey
Chapter 10
The moment Kai and Mira stepped into the guild, dozens of eyes turned toward them.
"Ohhh, Mira is back!"
"Welcome back, Mira!"
"Mira! Fight me!"
Natsu charged at her without hesitation.
Before he could even finish his sentence, Mira's expression shifted.
Her calm smile disappeared, replaced by her old delinquent aura.
BAM.
Natsu was sent flying with a single punch.
"You punk, can't you see I'm busy?"
She turned and bonked both Natsu and Gray on the head.
"Owww!" ×2
Gray clutched his head with teary eyes.
"Mira, why are you hitting me? I wasn't even doing anything!"
A vein popped on Mira's forehead.
"You perverted bastard."
Her voice was cold.
"Trying to act innocent now? Don't think I forgot what you told Elfman."
Gray froze.
"B-Because of you, he stripped while fighting a beast and got beaten up by me."
Gray raised his hands defensively.
"Ahem… Mira, listen, I wasn't trying to—"
Bonk.
Bonk.
"Owwww! Sorry! I won't do that again!"
Mira huffed and crossed her arms.
"You better not."
With that, she turned and walked toward Makarov to report her mission.
Kai, meanwhile, casually walked over and sat beside Cana.
"So, how's your training going?"
He leaned back slightly.
"If I'm correct, you might be a candidate for the next S-Class evaluation."
Cana paused mid-drink and looked at him.
"Even if I am… so what?"
She sighed and leaned her head back.
"Against monsters like Erza and Mira… do I even stand a chance?"
Kai laughed lightly.
"Hey, if you give up before you even try…"
He glanced at her.
"How are you supposed to get stronger?"
Cana rolled her eyes.
"What's the point competing with monsters like you?"
Kai smirked and tossed her a bottle.
"Here."
Cana caught it and looked at the label.
"Premium stuff."
Kai shrugged.
"Can't find it anywhere in this world."
Cana's eyes lit up instantly.
"Kai… why don't you just marry me?"
Kai's mouth twitched.
"I think you don't need that much alcohol—"
Cana hugged the bottle like her life depended on it.
"Nope! Not giving it back!"
Kai laughed and stood up.
Cana watched him walk away while taking a sip.
"…Dumb Kai."
She muttered under her breath.
Then she took another drink and sighed in satisfaction.
"Truly premium stuff."
At that moment, Makarov called out.
"Brat! You can go now."
Kai turned back.
"The moment you reach the Heartfilia estate, you can start the mission."
Kai nodded.
"Okay, old man."
He turned toward the guild and raised his hand.
"Guys, don't miss me too much. I'll be back in a few days."
After saying his goodbyes to Mira, Cana, Gray, Natsu, and Happy, he walked out of the guild.
A brief silence followed.
Wakaba sighed.
"Master, you could have let him rest."
Macao nodded.
"Heartless old man."
One by one, the guild members started agreeing.
Makarov's face turned red with anger.
"SHUT UP, YOU LAZY BUMS!"
He pointed at them furiously.
"GET YOUR ASSES OUT AND DO SOME DAMN JOBS!"
Within seconds, a full-blown brawl broke out inside the guild.
Tables flipped, magic flew, and chaos returned once again.
A few hours later, the guild doors opened.
A red-haired girl in armor walked inside.
The moment her gaze swept across the hall, everyone froze.
Erza Scarlet had returned.
She looked around slowly, her sharp eyes analyzing everything.
Then she began scolding everyone.
Some for doing missions poorly.
Some for not taking missions at all.
No one dared to argue.
After finishing, she calmly sat down and began cleaning her swords.
Mira walked over and sat beside her.
Erza raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing?"
The nearby guild members wisely moved away.
Mira smiled innocently.
"What are you talking about?"
Erza narrowed her eyes.
Then she noticed a faint mark on Mira's neck.
Mira wasn't even trying to hide it.
Erza's eyes widened slightly.
A dangerous aura formed around her.
She slowly turned toward Makarov.
"…Is Kai back?"
Makarov broke into a cold sweat.
How did she figure that out?
He coughed awkwardly.
"Ahem… he was."
He forced a smile.
"And he's already on an escort mission."
He added carefully.
"If you had come earlier, you might have met him."
Erza's expression darkened.
"Master…"
The next moment she grabbed him and started shaking him violently.
"How could you send him on another mission?!"
"He just completed his first S-Class mission!"
Makarov's soul nearly left his body.
When she finally stopped, he looked half-dead.
Erza turned toward Mira.
"You think just because you were here… you win?"
Mira smiled sweetly.
"Oh?"
She leaned closer.
"Let me tell you what happened then."
And she did.
Every detail.
Erza's face turned bright red.
Then her expression hardened.
"S-So what?!"
She crossed her arms.
"I've done that before too!"
Mira's smile widened mischievously.
"Oh really?"
She tilted her head.
"I don't think you have the guts."
A vein popped on Erza's forehead.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"
Within seconds, the two strongest girls in the guild started fighting.
Meanwhile—
Kai sat inside a train, quietly looking out the window.
The scenery passed by in a blur.
He sighed softly.
"…I wanted to meet Erza before I left."
