OLIVIA'S POV
Olivia wakes in Adrian's bed and for exactly three seconds she doesn't remember anything. Then the memories crash into her like a wave.
The fever. Adrian's hands on her forehead. The way he stayed with her through the night. And worst of all, what she said when her body was burning and her mind couldn't filter the truth anymore.
"You're someone I could love."
She sits up slowly and realizes she's wearing one of his shirts. Not her own. His. It smells like him. Like expensive cologne and something else she can't name. Something that makes her chest hurt.
The penthouse is silent. Adrian is already gone.
Olivia checks her phone. 7:15 AM. His assistant texted an hour ago saying he'd gone to the office. Of course he did. He's running. She knows this without being told because she'd run too if someone had just confessed feelings to her while feverish and vulnerable.
