Chapter 5 – Shadow Nexus
When Karn finally left the facility that evening, the sky above the desert had already turned dark. The floodlights around the Lockheed Martin complex illuminated the massive fences and security towers like a prison for secrets.
As always, he passed through the final security checkpoint.
A guard scanned him with a handheld device while another examined his belongings.
"Open your bag."
Karn did as instructed.
Inside were normal things—documents, a laptop, some tools used for AI research. Nothing unusual.
The guard glanced at the phone-shaped device in Karn's pocket.
"What's that?"
"My phone."
The guard briefly inspected it before handing it back.
It was impossible for him to know that the device contained something far more advanced than anything humanity had ever. created Zangika.
The most sophisticated alien AI Karn had ever imagined.
The guard waved him through.
"You're good."
Karn stepped outside the facility gates and exhaled slowly.
"Easy," he muttered.
Zangika's voice echoed inside his ear.
"Do not become overconfident. The first step of every successful infiltration is believing it is easy."
Karn raised an eyebrow as he walked toward his car.
"What does that even mean?"
A soft laugh echoed in his ear.
"You do not need to understand it."
By the time Karn reached home, exhaustion had already begun creeping into his body. The past weeks had been nothing but constant work—repairing Zangika, studying alien technology, and pretending to be a normal intern at one of the most secretive facilities on Earth.
He dropped his bag on the couch.
Zangika spoke again.
"You should sleep."
Karn stretched his arms.
"Already?"
"Yes. Beginning tomorrow we will be working much harder."
He walked toward his bedroom.
"For invading a military facility?"
"For surviving it."
Karn laughed softly and collapsed onto the bed.
Within minutes he was asleep.
The next morning began with an annoying sound.
"Karn."
No response.
"Karn."
Still nothing.
Then—
"Karny baby. Wake up."
Karn groaned loudly and turned over.
"Oh god…"
A digital sensation squeezed his shoulder lightly through the neural feedback interface in the device beside his bed.
"Wake up."
Karn finally opened one eye.
"…Zangika?"
"Good morning."
"Don't start the day like that."
"Why not?"
"Because it's morning."
He sat up slowly and rubbed his face.
"Alright," he said after a moment. "Let's review the situation."
Zangika waited patiently.
"We're planning to invade a government facility where they are kepting a ufo protected by soldiers, security systems, surveillance networks, and possibly experimental military tech."
"Yes."
"And steal alien technology from inside a classified spaceship."
"Yes."
"And you think this is possible?"
"Correct."
Karn stared at the ceiling for a few seconds.
"…This feels completely impossible."
Zangika laughed.
"You humans always say that before doing something interesting."
He sighed heavily.
"Fine."
"Basement."
The basement laboratory had become their secret headquarters.
Worktables covered with tools.
Alien metal fragments stored in sealed containers.
A 3D printer modified with experimental modules.
Several robotic arms.
Computers running nonstop calculations.
Karn dropped into his chair.
"Alright. Explain the plan."
Zangika's tone shifted slightly—calmer, more analytical.
"To reach the alien vessel we must bypass multiple layers of military security."
"I know."
"Therefore we require equipment capable of avoiding detection, storing materials, and protecting you."
Karn nodded slowly.
"So we build armor?"
"Not armor."
"A suit."
"Like Iron Man?"
A pause.
"We could. But we lack sufficient materials."
Karn leaned back.
"Then what kind of suit?"
"A portable technology platform."(that doesn't sound cool)
He blinked.
"What?"
"In simple terms," Zangika continued, "you will wear something that looks like normal clothing but functions as a highly advanced technological system."
Karn thought for a moment.
"So… a normal outfit that secretly contains alien technology, storage systems, and defensive capabilities?"
"Correct."
"…And it also has to look cool."
"Yes."
Karn sighed.
"Looks like I'm doomed."
The first step was materials.
Specifically, turning the alien Aerolium metal into usable fabric.
Karn stood beside the industrial furnace while examining a small piece of the metal.
"This thing is tougher than anything on Earth."
"That is why we will not use it alone."
"Meaning?"
"We combine it."
"With what?"
Zangika processed for a moment.
"Neuro-fiber fragments."
Karn frowned.
"From your previous repair materials?"
"Yes."
"They are extremely flexible."
"But not strong."
"That is why we mix them."
Karn scratched his head.
"…I still don't understand."
"In simple terms," Zangika said patiently, "we will melt the Aerolium and blend it with neuro-fiber fragments. The two materials cancel out each other's weaknesses."
"So negative plus negative equals positive?"
"Your mathematical explanation is… painful, but acceptable."
Karn shrugged.
"Let's try it."
The first experiment failed instantly.
The mixture hardened too quickly and shattered the machine's extrusion head.
Second attempt.
The metal became brittle.
Third attempt.
The fibers snapped like glass.
Fourth attempt.
The furnace overheated.
Karn wiped sweat from his forehead.
This is ridiculous."
"Continue."
Attempt five.
The mixture flowed slowly through the extrusion nozzle.
A thin silver thread emerged.
Flexible.
Strong.
Shining slightly under the lights.
Karn picked it up carefully.
"…We did it."
Zangika responded calmly.
"yup we did baby t."
He stretched the thread slightly.
It bent without breaking.
"Oh this is going to look amazing."
Creating the fabric was only the beginning.
Next came the real challenge.
Embedding technology.
The suit required:
• energy conduits
• neural feedback mesh
• micro-sensors
• environmental scanners
• and most importantly…
Vortex storage integration.
Karn stared at the diagram displayed on the monitor.
"So basically we're trying to connect a pocket dimension to clothing."
"Yes."
"…That sounds insane."
"Most advanced technology does."
Karn sighed and started working
For three days Karn secretly smuggled threads out of the research facility using the small vortex pocket he had partially constructed.
At home the basement turned into a textile factory.
They ordered an industrial sewing machine.
Connected it to the modified 3D printer.
Fed the Aerolium fibers into the system.
Then began programming the weaving patterns.
The machine jammed repeatedly.
Sometimes the threads tangled.
Sometimes the stitching collapsed completely.
Karn lost count of how many meters of alien material were wasted.
Finally, after a full week of work, the machine produced the first completed outfit.
Black pants.
A black shirt.
And a long coat with an attached hood.
Karn held the coat up.
"…It actually looks normal."
"Of course."
"But what about metal detectors?"
"They will not recognize the material."
"And sweat?"
"The 0.1 percent chemical treatment prevents irritation."
Karn blinked.
"You added something without telling me?"
"Yes."
"…You're scary."
Over the next month the real engineering began.
Integrating the Shadow Nexus system.
The core idea was simple but powerful.
Instead of embedding all technology inside the suit directly, the suit would act as a remote interface connected to the vortex storage space.
Zangika explained it using a simple analogy.
"Imagine cloud gaming."
Karn nodded.
"The heavy processing happens somewhere else, but the user experiences it locally."
"Correct."
"In our case the vortex space stores the technology."
"And the suit accesses it remotely."
"Exactly."
Karn leaned back in his chair.
"That's actually genius."
"I know."
Two months passed.
Karn balanced two lives.
Daytime: AI research at Lockheed Martin.
Nighttime: secret engineering.
Finally the day arrived.
Testing.
Karn stood in the basement wearing only his underwear.
Zangika laughed softly.
"You look ridiculous."
"You told me to remove everything."
"Correct. I simply enjoy observing the results."
"Can we focus?"
"Very well."
Karn picked up the glasses and placed them on his face.
"Ready?"
"Always."
He tapped the frame twice.
"Shadow Nexus."
A faint humming sound filled the room.
Light particles appeared around his body.
First the hood formed.
Then the shirt.
The pants.
Gloves.
Boots.
Finally the long black coat wrapped around him like flowing shadow.
Karn stared at himself in the mirror.
"…Oh my god."
"You like it."
"I look amazing."
Zangika chuckled.
"My love, you look magnificent."
Testing movement came next.
Karn took a step.
Then another.
The suit moved perfectly with his body.
Sensors adjusted temperature.
Energy conduits balanced power flow.
"Feels comfortable."
"Good."
"Almost like wearing normal clothes."
"Because that was the design."
He walked toward the basement window.
"Let's test it outside."
Night covered the city when Karn jumped out of the window.
He landed smoothly on the ground.
"No fall damage."
"Correct."
Then he ran.
At first slowly.
Then faster.
Streetlights blurred past.
Wind roared against his ears.
Zangika reported calmly.
"Current speed: forty kilometers per hour."
Karn pushed harder.
"Fifty."
"Seventy."
"Eighty."
He laughed loudly.
"This is insane!"
"Do not exceed current limits."
"Why?"
"Because the suit and your body require further calibration."
Karn slowed slightly.
Then noticed something strange.
"…Wait."
"Try jumping."
He did.
His body launched upward.
For a moment he floated.
"Step."
"What?"
"Step."
Karn placed his foot forward.
Something solid appeared beneath it.
Another step.
He was walking through the air.
"…I'm walking on air."
"Not exactly."
Zangika explained calmly.
"Miniature drones are generating temporary support fields beneath your feet."
Karn landed on a rooftop.
"That's still amazing."
"Agreed."
Karan jumped again
But suddenly Zangika's voice changed.
"…Karn."
"What?"
"Power levels dropping."
"What?"
The suit flickered.
Energy lines faded.
Zangika's voice became distorted.
"Core… unstable…"
"Zangika?"
The Shadow Nexus began dissolving around him.
"Karn… emergency landing…"
He fell.
Straight through the roof of a house.
CRASH.
Wood splintered.
Dust exploded everywhere.
Karn landed directly on a bed.
Pain shot through his back.
"Zangika?!"
Silence.
The suit had vanished.
The glasses flickered weakly.
"…Zangika?"
No answer.
For the first time since activating the Shadow Nexus…
The AI was completely silent.
(Suit name is shadow nexus)
