2. SECOND ENCOUNTER

CHAPTER TWO.

The storm had passed by morning, sunlight stretch across the city, like nothing had happened the night before. The street was still wet, reflecting the blue sky, and the top building is above them. For most people, it was just another normal day. But for Lena Hart, Something about the previous evening stayed in her mind. She sat at her desk inside a small newsroom where she worked , Flipping slowly through her notebook. The office buzzed with quiet activities.. Phone rang Occasionally, keyboard clicked, and reporters move in and out carrying papers and coffee. Lena Try to focus on her article, but her mind kept drifting. Back to the café, back to the quiet man sitting by the window. Adrian , She didn't know why she kept thinking about him. It had been such a simple meeting, a spilled coffee, short conversation, not special. And yet something about him felt different, mysterious. Lena Sighed and drop her pen onto her desk." Why am I even thinking about this?" She whispers to herself. Her coworker, Daniel glanced over from the deck beside her."You're talking to yourself again?" Lena Smile sheepishly ." Just thinking" That's dangerous for journalist, Daniel joked. We are supposed to write first and think later. Lena rolled her eyes. " I will remember that." She looked back at her notebook, trying to force herself to concentrate. But Adrian's calm voice echoed in her mind. " Love stories rarely ends the way people expect." What kind of person say something like that someone who had been hurt maybe. Someone who had lost something important. Before she could think about it any longer her editor's voice echoed across the room. "Lena"! She looked up, " Yes?" Did you finish the community story?. "Almost done "she replied. " Good I need before lunch," the editor walked away. Lena turned back to her desk and finally forced herself to write. Her fingers moved quickly now, capturing thoughts and shaping them into sentences. But even as she worked, a part of her kept drifting back to Adrian. Later that afternoon Lena , stepped out of the office building, stretching her arm slightly as she breathe in the fresh air. The sky was clear the city looks alive, She checked her phone briefly, then slipped it back into her back. I deserve a break. She said to herself instead of heading straight home she decided to walk. She passed familiar street, small shops, and café filled with people laughing and talking. Everything felt normal, comfortable until she saw it a bookstore. Lena Slowed down. She hadn't planned to Stop, but something about place drew her in. Maybe it was the quiet atmosphere she loved, or maybe she pushed the thought away and stepped inside.A soft chime echoed as the door closed behind her. The scent of books, old pages, And Fresh ink filled the air. Lena Smile immediately, this is nice she murmured. She walked slowly between the shelves, running her fingers slightly along the spine of books, romance, mystery, poetry every Section called out to her in its own way. She passed in front of a shelf and picked up a novel."Let me guess," A voice behind her, calm, our Familiar. "Love story." Lena froze. Her heart Skipped. Slowly, she turned around.Adrian stood there . For a moment she just stared at him. " You have got to be kidding me," She said. Adrian raised an eyebrow slightly. " That bad?" " No" she said quickly, just unexpected.? A smile Touch his lips. Seems we have a habit of that. Lena Let out a soft laugh. " Okay , Now I am convinced. Either you are following me or the universe playing some kind of joke.." I am not following you." " Good she said. Because that would be concerning. She held up the book she had picked and yes, you guessed right love story.Adrian glanced at the cover." Do they ever end well?" Lena tilted her head. Some do most don't . She studied him for a moment." You really don't believe in happy endings do you?" Adrian didn't answer immediately. Instead, he stepped closer to the shelf Picking up another book absentmindedly. It's not about believe he said quietly it's about reality. Lena folded her arms . " Spoken like someone who's been hurt ." Adrian glanced at er. And you?? She smiled slightly.
