Chapter 14: Environmental Zones
After reading the requirements for becoming a Primitive Planet, Alicia stayed quiet for a while.
The next realm was clearly different.
Until now, most of her growth had been simple—gather energy, level up, expand, stabilize.
But these new requirements were asking for something more.
A proper world.
Not just land.
Not just life.
A complete, functioning environment.
Alicia looked through the list again.
Create at least 3 complete environmental zones.
She slowly scanned her planet.
There were already forests, rivers, rocky areas, open plains, and oceans.
At first glance, it looked like she already had what the system wanted.
But after observing more carefully, she understood the difference.
Those were just terrains.
Not fully developed zones.
They existed, but they were still rough and incomplete.
A proper environmental zone needed more than shape.
It needed balance.
Conditions.
Life that matched the environment.
Alicia thought for a moment, then came to a conclusion.
"…So I need to stop decorating and start developing."
That sounded about right.
She decided to begin with the forest region.
It was already one of the most active places on her planet. Many beasts moved through it regularly, and plant life had spread well there.
Activating Terrain Creation, Alicia worked carefully this time.
She deepened parts of the forest floor, raised small slopes, and thickened clusters of trees where Life Energy was naturally denser. Then she adjusted the nearby river slightly, guiding a few smaller streams through the region.
The effect was immediate.
The forest felt cooler.
More alive.
More connected.
Water now moved naturally through the area. Plants near the streams became healthier, and smaller creatures began gathering around the damp, shaded sections.
Several beasts also shifted their usual paths, naturally settling into parts of the forest that suited them better.
Alicia observed the changes quietly.
"…Okay. That worked better than I expected."
The system responded.
Ding!
[Environmental Development Progress Detected]
Forest Zone stability increased
Alicia felt quietly pleased.
One step forward.
Next, she turned her attention to the rocky highlands.
Compared to the forest, this area was much harsher—harder ground, less plant life, steeper slopes.
Still, a few beasts already preferred it.
That meant it had potential.
Using Terrain Creation again, Alicia raised several natural stone ridges and formed elevated ledges, narrow climbing paths, and shallow cave-like hollows.
She even guided a small trickle of water down one side of the highlands so that some hardy plants could eventually take root there.
Soon, the area felt less like random stone terrain and more like a true environment.
It had shelter.
Natural pathways.
Distinct conditions.
The beasts there reacted quickly, with some moving into the caves and others claiming higher ledges as resting spots.
Alicia watched them.
"…Interesting. So some of you prefer height over cover."
That was useful.
Different environments were already encouraging different behaviors.
The system chimed again.
Ding!

Rocky Highland Zone stability increased
That made two.
For the third zone, Alicia chose the open plains.
Compared to the forest and highlands, the plains looked a little underdeveloped.
They weren't bad—just empty.
Alicia adjusted the land more subtly this time.
She smoothed some areas while leaving gentle rises and dips in others. She encouraged the spread of shorter grasses and low vegetation, then created a few shallow basins where water could occasionally collect.
The region slowly began to feel different.
Not empty.
Open.
Clear.
Useful.
Several humans naturally drifted toward the area, likely because it gave them better visibility and easier movement.
Alicia noticed that immediately.
"…That makes sense."
If she were a weak little human surrounded by beasts and forests, she would probably also choose the place where she could actually see danger coming.
The system appeared once more.
Ding!
[Environmental Development Progress Detected]
Open Plains Zone stability increased
Alicia checked the requirement list.
[Primitive Planet Requirement Updated]
Complete environmental zones: 3/3
She paused.
Then smiled faintly.
"…Done already?"
For the first time, Alicia felt like she had shaped her world with actual intention.
Not just making land.
Not just making life.
But developing a functioning world.
That felt… satisfying.
And a little addictive.
