The forest did not feel the same anymore. Even though everything looked normal on the surface something had changed the moment the rings disappeared. The black box still lay there half buried in the ground but now it looked empty and lifeless as if its purpose had already been fulfilled. The five scientists stood around it in silence trying to understand what they had just witnessed. No one had expected the rings to simply vanish like that and the fact that they moved on their own made it even more unsettling. This was not just a discovery anymore this was something far beyond science.
Dr. Adrian Voss was the first to speak. He said that whatever those rings were they were not ordinary objects and they were definitely not meant to stay locked inside that box. Mira slowly nodded and checked her device again but this time the readings were different the strong energy signal they had followed was now scattered in different directions across the world.
Rayan let out a quiet breath and said that the rings did not disappear they spread out. Selene looked at the readings carefully and then said something that made everyone stop thinking for a moment. She said the rings are looking for something or someone.
Leo looked confused and asked what that meant. Selene replied in a calm voice that felt certain the rings have chosen their owners.
For a moment no one said anything.
Then Adrian stood up and looked at the empty box again. He said if that is true then there are now seven people out there who are connected to something we do not understand and if those rings have power then those people are either going to become something extraordinary or something dangerous.
Mira added that they cannot leave this to chance. If the rings hold that much energy then they need to find those people before something goes wrong. Rayan agreed and said that if the wrong person gets control over that kind of power it could be a disaster.
Leo hesitated for a moment and then asked what if they are not dangerous what if they are just normal people who do not even understand what is happening to them. Selene replied that makes it even more important to find them first.
Adrian took a deep breath and made the decision. He said they will track the energy signals and locate every single one of those seven individuals no matter where they are. He also said that once they find them they will not reveal everything immediately they need to observe them first and understand how the rings work.
Mira looked at him and asked where they would even do something like that because they cannot bring seven unknown people into a public lab. Adrian paused for a second and then said they will not.
They will build their own place. A hidden one. A place where no one can find them. Rayan smiled slightly and said a secret base. Selene nodded and said that would be the safest option. Leo looked a little nervous but he understood that there was no other way. The decision had been made. They would leave everything behind their current work their lab their normal lives. From this moment on their only goal would be to find the seven chosen ones and understand the power of the rings.
As they prepared to leave the forest Adrian looked back at the black box one last time. It now looked completely ordinary like it had never held anything important but he knew that was not true.
Something had started here. Something that could change the world. And now it was already out there. Waiting to be found.
