The next morning felt different from all the others. No one said it but everyone knew something was about to happen. The training was no longer enough. It was time to step outside. Adrian called all seven of them into the control room. The main screen was already active showing a city map with a flashing red point. Mira stood beside it and said we have our first situation. Rayan added it is not too big but it is real.
Jenny raised an eyebrow and said not too big still sounds dangerous. Leo replied every mission is dangerous if you are not ready. Elisa stepped forward and asked what is happening.
Mira explained that there had been strange energy readings in a nearby area. Small at first but growing stronger. Selene said it could be a minor corrupted soul or something forming into a larger threat.
Kevin looked serious and said so this is our test. Louis smiled slightly and said finally something real. Stebin cracked his knuckles and said I was waiting for this. Jake stayed quiet but his eyes showed excitement.
Zoe looked at Elisa and asked are we ready. Elisa paused for a moment. Then she said we have to be. That was enough.
Rayan activated another system and the floor beneath them opened slightly revealing their suits. Each suit matched their energy color and power. They looked advanced strong and almost unreal. Jenny looked at hers and said okay now this feels like a movie. Stebin said yeah but this is real. They stepped into their suits.
As soon as they wore them the connection between them and their rings became stronger. The energy flowed more smoothly now like it was guiding them. Adrian said remember stay together and do not lose control. Selene added observe before you attack.
Within minutes they were on their way. The location was an abandoned industrial area just outside the city. The air there felt heavy and strange. As they arrived the ground looked damaged like something had already started forming.
Zoe whispered something is not right. Suddenly a dark figure appeared. It was not fully human and not fully monster. Its form shifted slightly as if it could not stay stable. Its eyes glowed faintly and the air around it felt cold.
Jenny said okay I take back what I said this is definitely dangerous. The creature let out a low sound. And then it attacked. Stebin reacted first rushing forward with his strength and hitting it. The creature moved back but did not fall. Kevin followed using his control to push it away creating space.
Louis moved fast circling it while Jake released a burst of power that shook the ground. Zoe focused and pushed the air around the creature slowing it down. Jenny tried to control her electricity but it sparked wildly at first. She shouted I am trying okay.
Elisa stepped forward. Her eyes locked on the creature. She raised her hand and focused her energy. This time it was stronger more controlled. A beam of light shot forward hitting the creature directly. For a moment everything stopped. The creature let out a loud sound and then slowly began to fade. The darkness around it disappeared.
And then it was gone. Silence returned. No one moved for a few seconds. Then Jenny said did we just win. Stebin laughed slightly and said looks like it. Kevin nodded but said it was not easy. Louis added but we did it together. Jake looked at Elisa and said that last attack that was something else. Zoe smiled faintly and said we are improving.
Elisa looked around at all of them. They were not perfect. They made mistakes. But they fought together. And they won. Back at the base Adrian and the others were watching everything. Mira said their coordination is already forming. Selene nodded and said especially her. Rayan smiled and said this is just the beginning. The team returned to the base tired but excited. For the first time they had faced real danger and survived. That night they did not feel like strangers anymore. They felt like a team.
Seven guardians. Their first mission was complete. But far away in the darkness something else had already begun to wake up. And this time it would not be easy.
