Dong, the door opened again, and Eddie staggered in. Seeing him, Jill rushed over to support her boyfriend. "Eddie, you don't look so good."
"I'm fine, I just want to eat something. Beautiful lady, please bring out everything edible here. Tonight's bill is on me, everyone drink as much as you like," Eddie said grandly.
"Hey, it's you, the big eater. You're really punctual," Kevin greeted with a smile.
"Director Eddie, you are truly too kind," Uncle Mark also greeted with a smile. Having been a security supervisor for so long, he had only met one Umbrella researcher who was so easy to talk to.
Jill shook her head, wondering why her boyfriend had changed so much, and seemed to have become even stronger.
Only Alyssa, the field reporter on the side, looked at Eddie thoughtfully, as if recalling some news material. Had she seen this scene somewhere before? She couldn't quite remember. A big eater? It seemed like news that had happened somewhere, she shouldn't forget it, but her head hurt, a throbbing headache whenever she thought about it, accompanied by a palpitation.
Chapter 23 Jill's Serum Enhancement!
There were no lavish meals in the bar, but there were plenty of simple canned foods: potato chips, canned soybeans, fries, and crisps, etc. All were things that looked good but weren't very useful, but better than nothing.
Only after consuming almost an entire bar's food inventory did Eddie feel a little better. If it weren't for Eddie's ability to continuously pay with his card, the bar owner would have suspected he was deliberately looking for trouble.
Jill had been watching her boyfriend with great concern until Eddie, satisfied, drank a beer and she asked, "Eddie, how do you feel? Are you still hungry?"
Eddie shook his head. "No, much better. The fast digestion tablets I invented were meant to relieve bloating, but the potency was too strong, leading to excessive stomach acid secretion, so I had to eat. Haha, I made you worry."
"You really are something, experimenting with medicine on yourself!" Jill chided, as it was a very dangerous thing to do.
"Don't worry, Jill. I think Eddie is a man with a great destiny. How many people working at Umbrella are normal? Haha!" Kevin raised his glass and joked.
Chris was very sad. He had just been about to confess to Jill, but then Jill had a boyfriend. Damn it, they were even living together. Thinking of this, he immediately picked up a bottle and chugged it down, the bitter wine burning his heart!
Joseph also joined Chris, bottle after bottle, chugging away. He was very disheartened today; his attempt to flirt had failed, and so many colleagues had witnessed it, which was very embarrassing.
"Tonight's tab is on me. I just finished a project today, something that helps with eating. It's a health product that many people will find useful. What exactly it is, I can't say; the company has a confidentiality agreement," Eddie laughed, speaking as if it were true.
In reality, he had quickly deciphered the T-Virus vaccine and then observed the changes when the two merged, also adding a bit of the Progenitor Virus.
After neutralization, a very strange substance was obtained, which could greatly enhance strength without causing uncontrollable rampage.
After a series of experiments, Eddie combined this substance with a modified vaccine, removing certain components, to create a brand new serum.
After the experiment, it was known that this serum was a serum that repaired his weaknesses. After destroying the experimental animals, Eddie used the specially modified serum on himself.
As expected, he felt hungry again, so he came to the bar to eat and drink. This time his mind was very clear; he just felt like eating.
"Sir, do you work at Umbrella? Are you developing medicine?" Reporter Alyssa walked over and asked.
"That's right. Is there something I can help you with, beautiful lady?" Eddie nodded.
"No, I was just asking. If you'd like to be interviewed, you can call me. Here's my business card. I'll give you an exclusive interview. I want to get firsthand news, so I'd appreciate it," Alyssa said, raising her glass.
"If I need to, I'll call you," Eddie nodded and took the business card. He seemed to have seen this woman with her fierce aura, seemingly fearless, somewhere before.
Wait, wasn't this one of the ordinary people who also escaped the outbreak crisis in Raccoon City? It seemed to be related to a sanatorium called Arklay Mountains in the suburbs.
Eddie's eyes flickered a few times; he seemed to have thought of a good idea. "Time flies when you're having fun. It's almost time to go."
Jill didn't know why her boyfriend suddenly wanted to go back. She knew the man must have something to do. "Alright, I'll go back with you."
"Wait!" Cindy, the beautiful bar waitress, trotted over in high heels, handing him a card with her fair hands. "Sir, you forgot your bank card!"
"Okay, thank you!" Eddie smiled and took the card.
The next day was a weekend, so no work was required. Only a small number of people needed to stay at the camp on duty; most of the Tactical Force members could go home to rest.
Jill had prepared breakfast. "Darling, I've noticed you've gotten stronger." Her beautiful eyes were full of smiles.
"I think so too, wife. I feel I need to talk to you about some things." Eddie thought for a moment and decided to tell Jill a part of the truth.
Jill rested her chin on her hands, listening intently. "Go ahead, I'm listening."
This look truly made Eddie sigh. She used to be so hard to pursue, but now that they were living together, things were progressing quickly; she was almost completely compliant. Yet, outside, Jill remained the capable elite of the squad, completely unchanged. What had changed was her attitude towards her boyfriend.
"I'm actually responsible for research on physical enhancement at Umbrella. Spencer, the chairman of Umbrella, conspired to murder one of my distant relatives, Marcus, who was also one of the founders of the Umbrella Corporation, a long time ago." Eddie's expression was serious, and he lowered his voice.
Jill's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, a little nervous. She hadn't realized her boyfriend had so many stories, and her expression became even more serious.
"I've successfully developed an enhanced serum. I haven't told Spencer. Before, to survive, I had to feign ignorance and lack of ambition. I've endured for so long just for revenge. Now the opportunity has come. I have a feeling Umbrella is preparing some terrible conspiracy, though I don't know what it is. I'm very worried about you, and I want to give you the enhanced serum. What do you think?" Eddie asked with an inquiring tone.
Jill frowned upon hearing this. "Actually, it doesn't have to be so troublesome. It's fine without the serum."
"Don't worry, there are no side effects. The only one, if any, is that you'll feel hungry, and your usual appetite will be larger than an ordinary person's. That's the only downside. Trust me, only with a good body can you survive," Eddie persuaded.
Jill frowned. She was very resistant to these things. At least before the Mansion incident, she was very resistant to even injections, or perhaps, she simply didn't trust them. "Let's not do it, okay?"
"No, I am your husband. What I say goes. The Arklay Mountains are very dangerous. Even well-trained special forces members can hardly guarantee their safety. You need to ensure your safety," Eddie said seriously, with an unyielding tone.
Jill had no choice. She really didn't want to, but she had to listen to her boyfriend, especially someone she was planning to marry. "Alright, I'll listen to you. Whatever you say, we'll do."
"Trust me, it's nothing. I don't want you to get implicated because of me," Eddie suddenly said in a very low voice.
Jill's heart skipped a beat. It seemed her boyfriend was planning something. Despite her resistance to the serum, Jill knew her boyfriend wasn't an unreliable person. She forced herself to accept the fact despite her discomfort.
After two days of leave, Jill returned to her squad for work. Her entire demeanor had changed significantly; she seemed a little taller and stronger, and her slender, city-girl arms now concealed immense strength.
"Jill, you're back? Training has been very busy these past few days. You seem to have changed," Rebecca stepped forward and said with a sweet smile.
Jill smiled back, "How have I changed?"
Rebecca tilted her head, seemingly pondering. "It's like you haven't changed, but you've become more beautiful and more elegant."
"Is that so? Rebecca, you really know how to talk. Come on, I'll treat you to a delicious lunch," Jill said with a smile. She also felt her condition was much better, and some minor ailments she used to have had disappeared. All of this was brought by those mysterious serums, and it was also a gift from her beloved boyfriend.
After successfully helping Jill complete her serum enhancement, Eddie did not leave but continued to stay in the laboratory. He was preparing corresponding enhancement serums for his other girlfriend, Alex Wesker.
Unlike Jill, Alex had an existing illness that needed to be cured, which could not be successfully treated by normal scientific means.
On the phone screen was Alex's pretty face. This phone was specifically for her to contact Eddie and would not be monitored by others.
"My dear, I've received your data. You've surprised me," Alex said with a smile, occasionally stroking a strand of hair behind her ear, revealing the unique charm of an older woman.
"This data is for normal people; don't use it yourself. You can use it as a reference. After I finish things here, I'll come to you and specially formulate a unique serum for you. Your situation is quite special, and I don't trust anyone else," Eddie said into the phone.
Alex nodded. "I understand, my dear. I'll wait for you here. When you come, I'll give you a surprise. I'm also researching the new model serum Spencer gave me; perhaps it will be useful to you. Be careful, Spencer has already sent people to deal with Marcus."
"I understand. You be careful too. I'm hanging up now," Eddie nodded. What Alex was researching was nothing more than some longevity serum data given by Spencer.
