"Quack!" The Hunter leaped again, claws bared, continuing its assault, its sharp talons directly severing branches as thick as a fist.
Eddie sneered, choosing not to engage in close combat. Instead, he pulled out the submachine gun from his back and unleashed a rapid burst, blowing off the Hunter's head. "Who's playing fisticuffs with you, you idiot!"
Ada suddenly burst out laughing. This situation was like two martial arts masters preparing for a duel; one strikes a 'White Crane Spreads Wings' pose, while the other pulls out a submachine gun and ends the fight in two seconds. Such a scene was indeed very amusing and made people laugh.
"What are you laughing at? Are you crazy? Coming here again? Don't you know the Arklay Mountains are very dangerous? Especially at night. Wouldn't it be much nicer to just stay in a bar, have a couple of drinks, and then watch a movie?" Eddie grumbled.
"Can you control where I like to go? Hmph, how would I know? I only know now that I'm here." Ada was not one to be trifled with. The strong-willed mature woman would never bow to a man.
"You're truly foolish, coming to this place. Do you think this is like any other place you've been before? Is it very heroic to venture in alone?" Eddie questioned.
"Handsome, we're not familiar. You have no right to question me! Understand?" Ada was also very annoyed. If she had a choice, why would she come to such a dangerous place?
"It's my responsibility to protect every resident of Raccoon City, you silly woman. I told you before, don't come here. Hurry back, we can talk about it later when you're safe. I still have a mission to complete." Eddie waved his hand, preparing to leave.
He had only taken two steps when he heard Ada say, "How do you expect me to go back? I just encountered a huge monster and my car was destroyed. Now you want me to walk back?"
Eddie stopped. "Do you think that means I'll take you with me on my mission? Idiot, if others find out, can you still escape? Take this. Hurry back, you're utterly clueless. Go to my villa first, fly about ten kilometers northeast. You can leave the next day!"
Ada was very confused as to why the other party gave her something resembling a backpack. Then, she felt herself lighten and flew out directly. It turned out to be a tool for temporary flight! She had never seen such a tool before. Before she could even say goodbye, she was already flying into the sky.
After adapting for a while, Ada found it easy to control, but a simple gauge told her that the fuel was running low. "Eddie? Don't think I'll be obedient just because of this!"
Svetlana stood guard with a submachine gun, not bothering with the situation there. As a bodyguard, she didn't interfere with her employer's affairs.
"We're going to the sanatorium. There are still enemies to deal with there." Eddie's eyes sharpened. These women were truly troublesome. Each one was so bold. Were they no longer afraid of zombies?
Chapter 40: Eddie's Embarrassed Anger!
In the abandoned sanatorium, a man wearing a triangular helmet and wielding a large iron axe appeared. He moved very slowly, but bullets only left white marks on his body.
"What the hell is this guy!" Joseph shrieked again. He felt like it was his unlucky day, always encountering unpleasant things.
"Get out of the way, Joseph!" Barry shouted, pulling out his Magnum, the most powerful handgun, known as a hand cannon. One shot, one kill, and the Axe Mask Man was sent flying backward.
Dark blood spread. A flesh-and-blood body couldn't withstand such a powerful handgun. Not even an elephant could, let alone a human.
"Done!" Barry said, lowering his gun.
"It's not over yet. There are still many monsters outside, and there must be other secrets in this abandoned sanatorium." Enrico, however, disagreed. His professional experience told him there were definitely secrets here.
Bang! The sound of a glass window shattering echoed. "Don't shoot, it's us!" Eddie's voice came at the same time, followed by the still elegant Svetlana.
"Eddie! It's really great that you're okay." Jill's face bloomed with a smile. She was truly worried about her boyfriend. Knowing was one thing, but facing it directly still made her unable to remain calm. She knew she would probably be stuck with him for life.
"I'm fine. I just realized that this sanatorium is the one Alyssa mentioned. Remember the old news? Strange cannibalism and violent crimes occurred here. Although it was eventually shut down and the personnel were dispersed, the turmoil hasn't passed. There must still be some secret here," Eddie said seriously.
"You mean the truth behind the Arklay Mountains disappearances is hidden here? Then can we get off work sooner?" asked Brad, the timid pilot. He truly couldn't stand these monsters. Was this supposed to scare people to death?
"It's not that simple. Everyone, split into teams and search. Contact each other promptly if anything happens. This place is very eerie, so don't act alone!" Wesker, however, gave the order. He was also very curious about what secrets were here. He always felt there should be something that would surprise him.
Jill and Rebecca went together. Eddie naturally followed the two women, as did the female bodyguard Svetlana and the freelance journalist Alyssa. In reality, five people moved together.
The five arrived on the rooftop, where they could see some enlarged geckos, currently climbing on the walls.
Bang, bang, bang! Eddie skillfully shot and killed the geckos. These infected geckos would definitely not be as gentle as before; they would only ferociously tear and devour all living creatures.
"There's someone over there!" Rebecca pointed to the corner of the room.
"Careful, it could be a reanimated corpse!" Jill stopped Rebecca from advancing, pointing her gun at the person.
The journalist Alyssa looked around. "Wait, I remember this place. It seems like I've been here before. Wait, my head hurts so much." She finished, clutching her head in pain.
Eddie took out a vitamin tablet. "Here, chew it. Replenish some nutrients, you'll feel a bit better."
Alyssa took the vitamin tablet and chewed it. Soon, her expression improved. "I remember now. This sanatorium had a horrific murder incident five years ago. My colleague, Kurt, and I came here to report and interview."
"Slow down, don't get agitated. With us here, everything will be safe. I promise I'll make sure every one of you lives. And then, continue." Eddie remained vigilant of his surroundings.
Alyssa gave Eddie a grateful look. "Then we encountered a terrifying attack. It was a woman, like a living dead person. She was like a demon from hell. She attacked my colleague. My colleague told me to escape before he died. After that, I lost my memory, and I was also fired by the newspaper."
"Attacked by someone? Who was that woman? Why did something like this happen here? We need to investigate." Rebecca asked several sharp questions consecutively.
Bang! Just then, the masked axe man, who had been knocked down by Barry earlier, walked back into the corridor. He held a wood-chopping axe in both hands, and with his metal mask, in this eerie, abandoned sanatorium, he was truly terrifying!
"There are no ghosts in this world at all. Everything is just an act. Playing tricks, screw you!" Eddie was also startled, and being scared in front of women made him feel embarrassed. His anger rose to replace his fear!
Bang! The axe man swung his axe forcefully, but Eddie naturally moved closer, using the same move Svetlana used to hit him: a palm strike to the axe man's wrist. The T-Virus enhanced strength should have shattered a normal person's wrist, or at least fractured it, but instead, his own palm stung. This axe man seemed to be made of steel.
When one move didn't work, Eddie immediately kicked out, sending the opponent flying backward, while also retreating forcefully. "This guy is a bit strange. He's stronger than a professional athlete. It seems he's been enhanced by something. So weird. You'd better be careful."
Rebecca raised her gun and accurately hit the axe man's finger, making him feel pain and stop his advance. "Be careful, he's going to attack again. Barry was able to knock him down with the Magnum earlier!"
Eddie felt no fear. He knew he was in trouble, having encountered the most troublesome monster in this sanatorium. This monster, already infected by plant spores, would not be defeated until the plant in the lowest hall, infected by T-Virus and transformed into a bio-weapon, was destroyed.
Running over again, bullet time appeared. Eddie, in a state of absolute focus, perceived that the axe man's axe swing speed had slowed down. He easily dodged it, then kicked back at a man's most vulnerable spot, using the infamous'Son-Shattering Kick' technique feared on the football field!
Bang! The axe man was repeatedly kicked backward, letting out an inhuman howl, as if enraged.
Svetlana and Jill, in this terrifying atmosphere, seemed a bit amused by Eddie. This man actually swore in front of so many women, and it seemed he was scared and then became angry out of embarrassment!
While this brought a knowing smile, it also made them realize their commonality: they were all ordinary people. When facing the unknown, everyone feels fear and apprehension. The difference is that some overcome their fear, while others do not.
After observing for a while, Jill took out an orange-red bomb. "Eddie, retreat!"
When Eddie kicked the axe man back again, he also retreated quickly. A bomb hit the axe man, then exploded directly, forming a flame that clung to the axe man's body.
No matter how powerful a bio-weapon, it fears fire. There's no monster that can't be burned to death!
Jill's insight was indeed unique; in an instant, she figured out how to deal with this monster.

Chapter 41: One Rocket Launcher Shot!
"Awooo!" The Axe Mask Man let out a wail, somewhat human, yet somewhat not. He struggled in the flames, retreating step by step.
Eddie gave the opponent no chance to breathe. He immediately drew his submachine gun, changed the magazine, and unleashed a rapid burst. An enhanced magazine, fifty rounds, almost emptied, continuously pushed the Mask Man back until he finally fell off the balcony.
"Are you guys okay? That guy's hide is really tough! My hand is aching from hitting him." Eddie shook his arm.
Rebecca, however, took out medicine and went to bandage Eddie. "You're injured. Let's bandage it up first so you don't get infected. There are many bacteria here. If you're not careful, bacteria can invade your bloodstream and eventually lead to tetanus!"
"It's fine, just a minor injury." Eddie didn't care. These minor injuries would heal very quickly.
