Chapter 28 - 28

"Thank you so much! Uncle is indeed a good person. Should I transfer the money now?" Eddie said, overjoyed.

Sergei felt a bit choked; was he really that short on cash? "I'll give it to you now! As for how much the Chairman will reward you, I don't know. Oh, and have you continued your research on enhancing physical fitness?"

"This depends on the individual. Everyone's physique is different, so the dosage used will vary. In my opinion, to design a tailor-made product for an employer, the best way is to clone them and then continuously experiment," Eddie suddenly proposed a plan.

This plan was to ensure Spencer wouldn't die too quickly, and also to satisfy his desire for revenge. Let the old geezer experiment on himself; let's see if it can sicken him!

Sergei nodded, "That's a very good suggestion. Have you looked into the G-Virus?"

Eddie was already immune to this question. "I don't know, I haven't looked into it. Dr. William keeps his secrets very well. Logically, even if the G-Virus is developed, it would take a long time to unlock its full potential. Comparatively, the T-Virus would be more controllable."

"According to Dr. William, the G-Virus is a more powerful product than the T-Virus. But here's the problem: we spent so much effort just to barely develop a reliable product. If we continue to research the G-Virus, the cost will be even greater. Until I see concrete results, I remain skeptical," Eddie stated his thoughts.

The meaning of these words was clear, and Sergei understood it. It was the mutual disdain between smart people; neither would yield to the other. If you have the ability, show the evidence. Who can't brag?

Sergei himself didn't have much affection for the G-Virus. He was perfectly compatible with the T-Virus, so he naturally disliked the G-Virus. In his view, the T-Virus was the most powerful, and only the T-Virus should exist in this world; everything else should be abolished.

What about the other serums? Good question. They need to be selected to be passed down. Those that are passed down are all excellent, not waste! (Specifically referring to the Rattlesnake Virus, which was too weak to even look at.)

"You seem to have a strong opinion about William?" Sergei changed the subject.

"No opinion, I haven't even met him. Uncle, if there's nothing else, I'll head back first. Remember to help me apply for a bonus from Uncle Spencer; I'm very poor lately and almost out of money for food!" Eddie immediately turned into a money-grubber again.

"Understood, you may go." Sergei nodded. Likes money? He liked people like that—easy to control, unlike Albert, who was always like a rat.

Immediately after leaving the Special Mobile Force's outpost, Eddie received two text messages: one for ten million transferred by Sergei, and another for a massive thirty million transferred by Umbrella Corporation.

As a financially powerful international pharmaceutical company, Umbrella was never short on money; thirty million was barely a drop in the bucket.

Eddie began to consider his escape routes. First, he needed to get all of Umbrella's data, then obtain the G-Virus data through Annette. With these two serums, he could achieve excellent results in the future, whether for research or sale.

The T-Virus diluted enhancement plan was just the beginning. Eddie had already tried it; this power was truly the cornerstone of human evolution. The only thing to watch out for was not to mutate. Mutating into a monster essentially made one useless, with severely reduced intelligence, becoming cannon fodder.

Think about how awesome Wesker was—dodging bullets, moving quickly, incredibly strong. After Chris gave him two injections, plus the Rattlesnake Virus, he became a complete imbecile.

From this, one can draw a conclusion: those who transform after receiving a serum are failures; those who don't transform are good stuff!

After returning from the mission in the Arklay Mountains, everything returned to calm. It seemed that no more attacks had occurred in the past few days.

Wesker didn't know if he had turned in the notebook, but Raccoon City proactively brought the director of the abandoned sanatorium, Albert, to court. Even if he was dead, he had to be dragged out to take the blame.

To calm the residents' anger, finding a scapegoat was undoubtedly the best choice.

Reporter Alyssa also wrote an article about what happened in the Arklay Mountains and submitted it. The Raccoon City newspaper, controlled by Umbrella, deleted the content about mutated monsters. The reports only stated that Albert had disguised himself as an axe-wielding man to harm tourists, with no other information.

At a bar in Raccoon City, Alyssa raised her glass and said, "Eddie, thank you. I found justice because of you, and Kurt can now rest in peace."

Eddie also raised his glass. "You're welcome. These are all things I should do. It's just a bit unsatisfactory that the final culprit wasn't found. I heard that the ruins have been demolished to prevent strange things from escaping again."

Speaking of those monsters, Alyssa still felt a lingering fear. Several times, Eddie and Jill had saved her; otherwise, even with ten lives, she wouldn't have survived.

"No matter what, I'm very grateful to you. Do you need a special interview? I can do one for you. I have connections at the newspaper. This could boost your popularity, how about that as a repayment?" Alyssa suddenly became enthusiastic.

Eddie said somewhat disappointedly, "I thought it would be a traditional repayment by offering yourself. Alas, you've truly disappointed me."

"Pfft! If you want, I can do that too." Reporter Alyssa, quite bold, raised an eyebrow. Who's afraid of whom!

Eddie coughed. "Haha, I was joking. A special interview is fine, but I don't want to be famous yet. At least as a normal person, I can still go shopping without worrying about too many fans. Enough talk, let's have another drink to celebrate that we're both still alive."

Chapter 45: Spencer's Poisonous Scheme!

In the Mansion, Spencer looked at the report submitted by his subordinate. The aging Spencer was in good spirits, but his increasingly frail body was telling him that he was getting closer to death.

Sergei walked into the Mansion, still followed by two Ivan-type Tyrant bodyguards. "Chairman, I just received news that Eddie suggested the best way to enhance physical fitness is to experiment with one's own clone. If the clone adapts, the original person should also be able to adapt. I thought this was a good idea, so I immediately came to tell you."

Spencer's eyes lit up upon hearing this. He was once a virologist himself, with average accomplishments, but he knew the feasibility of such a theory. "That's a good method indeed, Sergei. You did very well."

"It's all for the Chairman!" Sergei bowed respectfully. To Spencer, who had taken him in when he was down and out, he felt that kindness and swore to help Spencer fulfill his dream.

"The matters of the Arklay Mountains are entirely in your hands. Albert is still a good child; guide him if you get the chance." Spencer spoke only a few words before starting to cough. He couldn't speak much.

"What if he has thoughts of betrayal?" Sergei asked.

"Then kill him!" A cold glint flashed in Spencer's aged eyes. He would not tolerate any betrayal.

"I understand!" Sergei finally felt relieved. Since Spencer said so, he just had to make sure he didn't find any evidence of Wesker's betrayal, otherwise he would directly twist his head off.

Spencer coughed for a long while before stopping. "By the way, Eddie is still useful; let him continue to lie low. If the time is ripe, the final plan can be activated!"

What exactly was this final plan? Spencer was definitely a leader in schemes and intrigues; no one knew what his next plan was.

"Wouldn't it be too soon to implement it now? Many things aren't ready yet, and the Talos Project's base bodies are still being cultivated," Sergei frowned. He didn't care about casualties; he cared about whether he could complete the mission and about the bio-weapons and Tyrants he considered his brothers!

"It's not too soon. Hmph, when I can no longer control Umbrella, I will destroy it and start anew. I've used this tactic before. To scheme against me with tricks I invented?" Spencer sneered.

There were three founders of Umbrella. Besides the deceased nominal uncle Marcus, Edward Ashford, who had turned to dust, was also one of them. The remaining one was, of course, Spencer.

As a large multinational corporation, Umbrella had subsidiaries and research divisions almost all over the world. Long ago, the equally long-established Tricell had already set its sights on this rival.

While Spencer was vying for power, Tricell also began share infiltration, intending to understand the reasons behind Umbrella's rapid rise. Coupled with the attacks from the Simmons Family, Umbrella was now infiltrated by multiple forces.

Spencer's personality was very dominant; what he couldn't have, he would destroy. Marcus, who initially disagreed with sharing the T-Virus research results, was killed by people Spencer sent. Whoever dared to defy him would have to bear the consequences.

Umbrella was infiltrated, and its shareholders had already changed. Spencer, who held the core technology, was not at all flustered. Umbrella was merely a shell to conceal his research on immortality. If the shell became useless, he would discard it.

As long as he controlled the supercomputer Red Queen, which held Umbrella's data, and his right-hand people like Alex Wesker and Sergei Vladimir, along with the research team, Spencer could completely rise again.

It seemed Spencer was planning something terrible, using the resurrected Marcus as the source. What the consequences would be, an old man in his twilight years couldn't care less.

Unfortunately, Alex, whom Spencer trusted deeply and even regarded as a daughter, had already betrayed him. This was something Spencer had never anticipated.

Sergei remained silent regarding Spencer's words. He was a soldier and didn't understand the intrigues of the business world. When it came to combat, he was more adept than anyone.

Click! A peculiar sound seemed to echo. In the ventilation shaft, someone was eavesdropping!

This was a federal agent, who was so overwhelmed by the stench in the ventilation shaft and the crawling cockroaches that he couldn't bear it and made a slight noise.

Thud! One second, Sergei was reporting in place; the next, he shot up into the five-meter-high ventilation shaft, punching through the thirty-centimeter-thick steel pipe to yank out the federal agent hiding inside.

"Annoying rat, hehe!" Sergei directly crushed the agent's shoulder, rendering the unlucky agent unable to retaliate.

Spencer didn't even lift an eyelid. "Take him away for experimental candidacy."

The Ivan-type Tyrant grabbed the agent and threw him out. The guards outside quickly took the man away. Someone had infiltrated the Mansion; this was dereliction of duty! When investigated, no one would escape blame!
