Chapter 27 - 27

"What the hell is this?" Eddie Cai was startled as soon as he entered.

"Be careful, we don't know either. This thing sucks blood. Brad just got hit. Rebecca, come here and help stop the bleeding!" Foster, the sniper, shouted.

Clang, clang, clang, bullets had little effect on the plant spores. The huge plant skin effectively absorbed the impact of the bullets; kinetic energy had little killing power against it.

"What are you doing? Use fire! Plants are all afraid of fire!" Eddie Cai was speechless. Why couldn't these so-called elites figure it out? After saying that, he pulled the pin on an incendiary grenade and threw it over.

Boom! The plant's vines thrashed even more wildly, seemingly in a hurry. Fire was too destructive to immobile plants. Spreading flames, as long as there was fuel, could burn indefinitely.

Hearing Eddie Cai's reminder, all the team members reacted and threw grenades and incendiary grenades, blowing the giant spore plant to smithereens.

Foster, who had been aiming for a long time, also used his sniper rifle to shoot the masked man, forcing him to retreat. Sniper rifle bullets were much more powerful than ordinary pistol bullets.

Albert was clearly furious at being chased for so long, and angrily punched the masked man's mask off.

The masked man, who had been sent flying, struggled to get up again. Everyone looked over and realized it was the Mediterranean man who had led them to this abandoned Training Facility.

Alyssa, the reporter, exclaimed, "He's the director of this abandoned Training Facility! I remember now, it was him! He released his wife, who had turned into a zombie, to attack my colleagues, that demon!"

Alyssa was very emotional. She remembered everything. It was this demon in front of her who had caused her to be shocked and lose her memory. Thanks to that memory loss, she had become stronger.

"You are all delicious food, don't leave, hehe!" The director sneered.

Chapter 43: The Gentle Uncle Barry?

"You damn monster, you're the delicious food, go to hell!" Barry, who was usually gentle and reliable, suddenly cursed, which neither Chris nor Jill found surprising, clearly understanding Barry's character.

Eddie Cai was stunned for a moment. So Barry also liked to swear so much. No wonder Barry's daughter Moira also liked to swear so much. Assessment complete: she's his biological daughter!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Barry used unique incendiary bullets, and each shot ignited the spore plant upon impact.

"You're dead! How dare you hurt my wife!" Albert, the director, angrily picked up his weapon. The injury to the spore plant also made the masked man, who was connected to the plant, feel incredibly angry.

Bang! Eddie Cai quickly fired a follow-up shot, crippling the masked man's legs, and then fired another shot at the man's most vulnerable spot in the middle.

That shot made all the male team members present shiver. They couldn't believe that Eddie Cai, such a refined and handsome man, could be so vicious!

Bang! The giant spore plant shattered, and a zombie fell out through the damaged area. The masked man saw it and choked out in pain, "My dear, I won't leave you again."

Albert and Enrico were a bit confused, but only Rebecca and Jill knew what was happening.

"Arrest him and take him back!" Albert had just finished speaking when the abandoned Training Facility began to shake.

Eddie Cai grabbed Jill, Rebecca, and Alyssa and ran outside. "Run! This place is going to collapse! The plants were supporting the Training Facility, and now that the plants are dead, this dilapidated building is going to fall. Run!"

Everyone dared not delay. This was a seven or eight-story building. Being buried in a collapsing dilapidated building would truly mean death!

By the time Kenneth was the last to run out of the Training Facility, the tottering dilapidated building collapsed in an instant. The rapid wilting of the plants led to a lack of support.

The masked director did not escape, but was buried alive in the ruins with his wife, who had already turned into a zombie.

By this time, the sky was already starting to lighten. Unbeknownst to them, it was already past midnight. They had been fighting for over six hours, almost without realizing it.

"This is trouble. We didn't get the culprit or the evidence," Enrico sighed. If they returned empty-handed this time, it would cause big problems.

"Does this count? This is the director of the Training Facility's notebook. He said himself that this situation only occurred after he purchased medicine from a certain European pharmaceutical company and gave it to his critically ill wife." Eddie Cai threw the notebook over.

Enrico took the notebook and looked at it, his brows furrowed deeply. This was already an international matter. He handed the notebook to Captain Albert, letting Albert make the decision.

Albert's eyebrows twitched after reading it. This so-called pharmaceutical company, could it be the company he was about to defect to? This incident could serve as a stepping stone to join the rival company.

Albert knew very well that what happened here was just a small, unexpected bonus. The real reason still lay with the Umbrella Executive Training Center and the underground laboratory of the Mansion on the other side, where communications had already been lost. No one knew what was causing the trouble, or if it was the mysterious person impersonating Uncle Marcus.

At the mention of Marcus, even Albert felt fear. He was one of the murderers who personally participated in killing Marcus. If Marcus revived, the first thing he would do would undoubtedly be to seek revenge on him. He needed to do something to protect his own safety.

"I will report this matter to the director. You don't need to worry. Check for injuries, everyone stay alert, and rest. When it's light, we'll return the way we came!" Albert silently pocketed the notebook. No one knew what he was thinking.

"Eddie Cai, what exactly are your plans?" Albert was very confused. This incident at the abandoned Training Facility was entirely provoked by him.

Everyone checked for a while and all had varying degrees of bumps and scrapes. Only Brad, the pilot, was relatively unlucky, having been entangled by plant vines, but he was not seriously injured. They just didn't know if he would be infected with the T-Virus because of it.

Eddie Cai took out some compressed biscuits and handed them over. "Eat some, everyone, replenish your energy."

"You seem to have everything. Hey, Eddie Cai, when did you get a rocket launcher?" Kenneth asked as he took the compressed biscuits.

"I picked it up on the way. It seems someone deliberately left it here," Eddie Cai lied.

"Someone deliberately left it?" Enrico also found this reason a bit far-fetched.

"I think it's quite normal. The environment here is very dangerous. If someone was really doing something illicit and was attacked here, that would be very logical," Albert unexpectedly came to Eddie Cai's defense.

"Sometimes luck is like that. Maybe if I buy a lottery ticket when I go back today, I'll even win!" Eddie Cai laughed, nodding at Albert.

Neither man told the other their calculations. In other words, everyone was covering for each other to make money. As for whether they would become enemies later, that remained to be seen.

After crossing a broken bridge and re-attaching tactical ropes, they returned to where the helicopter was parked. They could see that the helicopter's glass had been shattered, seemingly attacked by something.

"Brad, you and Dury are really lucky. If you had stayed behind, you might have been attacked by something!" Edward teased the two pilots.

"Brad is injured, Edward, you fly the helicopter!" Squad leader Enrico gave an order.

Albert could certainly fly a helicopter, but there was no need. For a captain to personally fly a helicopter, it would lack a certain gravitas.

After the S.T.A.R.S. left, Sienna, the scout, and her teammate Caroline returned to the ruins. After collecting some samples, they also left. This time, they could go back and report. At least what happened here still needed to be reported.

Ordinary team members didn't know about the T-Virus, but as high-ranking federal officials, most people were well aware of it. The connections with Umbrella were also very deep, a relationship of both enemy and friend. If there were benefits, they were good friends. When there were no conflicting interests, they first thought about whether they had bought a burial plot, because dying without a place to be buried was the most tragic.

Ada spent the night in the villa. The next day, after finding diesel fuel, she drove the aircraft back to Raccoon City. She also took the opportunity to collect some samples and combat data, which should fetch a good price from her employers!

Chapter 44: Alyssa's Repayment!

After dealing with Jill, Eddie Cai went to Umbrella's mobile unit station and found Sergei. "That's the situation. This time, we discovered a plant-series biochemical weapon. It's very powerful, but its weaknesses are also obvious: it's afraid of fire and cannot move. I still haven't found that guy impersonating Uncle Marcus, that hateful dog! He even uses the reputation of the dead!"

Sergei nodded in satisfaction. This was similar to the information he had collected. "You don't need to worry about Marcus. I will personally deal with it. This matter has been suppressed, buying the company a lot of time. Do you need any reward?"

Eddie Cai nodded. "I want a large sum of money, and also, Uncle Sergei, I'm planning to buy a house, and I'm a little short on cash. How about you sponsor me privately? Anyway, you'll have to give me a wedding gift."

Continuing to play dumb, this was Eddie Cai's strategy: don't ask what shouldn't be asked, grab the benefits and run. Showing off feels good for a moment, but constant showing off leads to the crematorium!

Sergei raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but sneer. No one had ever dared to ask him for a wedding gift. "I'll give you ten million privately. Work hard. The chairman will give you everything you want."
